Chapter 22

But he hit Trent right back.

“You wanna hurt me, huh?” Trent yelled in his face. “Come on, hit me!” His fingers dug into Kieran’s cheeks, pushing the flesh into his teeth, bruising his gums. Kieran tried clasping Trent’s shoulders, but Trent knocked his back against the door again, rattling his brain. Kieran’s side felt like it was going to split open under Trent’s palms. He couldn’t take it anymore. The adrenaline was fading fast. He pushed Trent’s face, slapping his shoulder.

Trent finally stepped back, wheezing and raging. “I wish I’d never met you,” he said, between ragged breaths.

Trying not to burst into tears, Kieran straightened his shorts and smoothed out his hair. He’d had it. That was it. The last straw.

“I want you out by the end of the month,” Trent said in a drawn out voice. “Understand me?”
