Journal entry #3

Welcome back my friends. Now here comes my biggest secret.

Dun..dun… DUN!

Remember that pesky thing called a soul trait before my birth? Well turns out I'm immortal. Immortal adjacent. Well on my way to immortality really. It's close so don't start doubting me.

The main reason I originally started these journals is to maintain my sanity. Let's just say that woman keeps being a constant presence in my life. Yours truly has been in so many genjutsu I'm starting to lose my grip on reality a little.

Which is why I thought she'd finally broken me after running into that little blue screen on my third birthday. Was it not for my first journal entry I may not have discovered my so called soul trait and just written it off as my descent into madness.

That birthday wasn't much different from any other day. I did my training duties, got my daily dose of abuse, cursed that woman, plotted my escape, and then came home. A small birthday cake was waiting for me alongside a note. It simply read:

Happy birthday. Don't stay up late.

That was it but it meant a lot after my life was going haywire over the last year. All I could think as I held my little cake was I wish I could save it.

Then it happened.

A little blue screen appeared. I more or less ignored it since I thought I was going crazy, but I had a quick realization. That woman couldn't possibly know about this. So I started to read it.

Item Save

1.

2.

3.

It continued until the number ten and I thought holy shit the legendary Inventory! I will be the king of thieves! It's not the most powerful cheat but I can't complain! I casually clicked the first box. So now it read:

Items Save

1. Cake

2.

3.

Etc.

So I thought ok now load and it changed to an Item Load panel and I couldn't click the cake fast enough. Then as I was holding my hand over my head like it should land there…after a few minutes…I felt like a mighty idiot. I went to my door and made sure it was locked before any more attempts.

I came back inside and stared at the table. The cake hadn't moved from the table, so no pulling from a dimensional space, for that matter no storage happened, as far as I could tell nothing had happened. So i tried again and again but zilch, nada, nothing, nanimo!

What kind of bull shit Inventory was this!

After several more and quite honestly embarrassing attempts… that I won't get into…I'd more or less given up. I had no idea how to use this and after— ahem let's forget my dark history— I worked up an appetite and there was cake so I took a bite. It was decent going stale but can't complain after wasting so much time. At this point by reflex I clicked on the first load option. Then shit got real!

My cake was back! Not like it suddenly went somewhere but it came back good as new. No bite mark, not so much as a scratch, and it seemed fresher like it was at the start of my experiments.

So my current thought process was: holy shit I can reverse time! That unfortunately wasn't remotely correct because I kept eating the cake till only half was left, clicked load and there it was again. Except I was still semi full. So it's not like the cake I ate was spit up and went back to the original. I then finished the cake, and quite honestly I may not eat cake for a few days now, as soon as I left a sparkly clean plate though the cake option in my save and load disappeared.

Naturally in the next few days I went absolutely bananas trying to save the things I had and just about anything I could touch.

The rules more or less appeared after a few days.

1. My ability had some form of matter manipulation and generation. I was not rewinding time. It required touch and I don't have to click on the panels just mentally select it.

2. I could save the state of items and people. No large structures from what I could tell. aka the attempt to save the whole house. I tried more than I care to admit. Weird hole in the wall, roof, and floor I had to explain.

3. There was a 10 item limit AND 10 character limit.

4. It took my chakra sort of. Not a lot considering the god like ability but a 1% drain per use on item save and load. Character save technically had chakra drain of 5% but it could be undone by loading my own save.

5. Two halves of the same item could be reloaded essentially duplicating them.

6. Each duplicate cost exponentially more chakra to make.

7. The effect was instantaneous and save files could be overwritten, updated, or deleted manually with my mind.

8. Items that met complete destruction would be automatically deleted from the files.

9. Save files would appear with the name I thought of when I was making the save.

The main experiments to get this information were as follows:

1. My pencil.

If I broke it in half and selected load I would have a new pencil. I could then take the other broken half and load again. This would still cost 1% of my chakra. Break the duplicate in half and it would cost 2% per half to reload. Break again and then 3% etc. What I deemed the original or first broken half I loaded would always be 1% to reload it broken again. So I had a lot of broken pencil tips lying around. This house will never need pencils again.

2. Duplicate pencil

I decided to break a duplicate pencil again but instead of selecting load on 1 half I selected save over the original pencil file. Further damage to the pencil returned it to half state and back back to 1% chakra drain. Ie I could update the save file. Load didn't work on the other non saved half though. I could make a new save file of it but not load it into becoming like the other broken half. ie. if the bottom half of the pencil was saved, I couldn't grab the top half click load and turn it into the lower half. Not the way it worked.

3. The 11th pencil.

With 1 new non duplicate pencil I used a kitchen knife to cut a line into it. Seeing as I had made 10 saves already of duplicate pencils. I selected save. No 11th save file. I just thought overwrite the first one and it did. 10 was my limit.

4. My self

This had the least amount of shenanigans since I had no intention of seeing if I could clone my whole body. Yet it was the most ridiculous.

As I woke up I selected save on my self. This brought up the character save panel and it had 10 slots just like item save.

I could make multiple saves of myself. I made one in the morning. One after breakfast and one after my training.

Loading my morning save that night undid all the new bruises I'd gotten that day. It made me hungry and feel like I just woke up… so well rested and fresh out of bed basically.

Loading my after breakfast save gave me a full belly, no bruises, well rested, in essence my peak state before training! In the same moment I gave my self a small cut and selected load again. Wouldn't you know it good as new.

Every time I did this it would cost me 5% chakra on both making and loading the save, but on load it would be refilled by the previous state. Ie I had 50% chakra by the evening. Spent 5% on saving my state and then another five to load my morning state. Should be 40% chakra right? Wrong. Loading my 95% chakra self from the morning made it exactly that 95%.

As long as I had 5% of my chakra left I basically had infinite chakra, stamina, and health.

Sounds awesome right?

Well sort of.

Problem one is that it undid my training. I could feel and see it with my byakugan. The chakra and physique strengthening I had gained from training wasn't present.

That did put me in a rough spot. If I loaded 3 year old me when I was 15. I could essentially redo my life. Immortal.. ish. That was the problem though. Everything I'd gained physically up until 15 would be undone. Now my physique might not be that big of a deal but my chakra was a different story. This was a bit of a catch 22.

Especially when I had my eyes on stealing a tailed beast for myself. Silver lining I kept my memories, problem was even if I became a taijutsu master and could perform the jutsu it didn't mean my body could. Again catch 22.

Problem two is that this definitely couldn't be used openly. Forget the fact the Hyuga clan might make me into a breeding, money printing, or even medical machine. They would be the nicest option. This world had Danzo, Sasori, Hiruko, and freaking Orochimaru one whiff of me and I'd be hunted and they might not even be the worst options for all I knew.

Problem three is why problem two was scary. I had no idea what could happen if I used load on a cut off appendage and I was afraid to find out. Worse than that is despite the abilities strength something became clear after a few experiments on items. Should the item be completely destroyed the save file would vanish and I couldn't select load in my sleep.

These two facts were scary if someone wiped me out in one hit. Screwed. If I was knocked out screwed. If I had my mind broken. Screwed. There was countless ninja that could pull any of these things off with just a sneeze my way in the coming future and people aimed for the head here. I had no Thanos plot armor to be able to guarantee the abilities use in battle.

I was more or less a pay to win player with top tier items that could still be one shot by a random noob. This shit cray.
