#Chapter5

The past can haunt us

Ryker

I woke up every day with my family giving me the same expression. Their expressions put me in a foul mood. I sat at breakfast, quieter than usual, moving my food around with my fork. They glanced at each other. I had enough and got up.

/"When the past stays in the past,/" I countered.

/"You worry, Mom and Dad?/"

/"Why? So they can remind me of what a fuck up I am. No thanks./"

I had a harshness to my tone.

/"Ryker, let the past go, man. What happened affected us, too,/" Evan said.

/"You don’t think I realize that? I live with the past with Dad criticizing me,/" I retorted.
