Chapter 44: Just wanted a day off…

Chirp… chirp…

It always refreshed my mood whenever I listened to the birds chirping in the trees, enjoying their life. 

Haaigh…..

" That was refreshing." I entered the bathroom while scratching my back, ready to start the day with a refreshing bath.

Drizzle…Drizzle…

The water cascading down my body was cool, refreshing my body and relieving it from any fatigue I had accumulated from yesterday. After that, it was time to empty my stomach and get ready for the day.

Sizzle…. Sizzle….

The sizzling of the monster meat on the pan, its aroma that tickled my nose making me salivate, was heavenly. It was refreshing to have some time for oneself after battling with the monsters in the dungeon without stopping even for a minute. 

[ Alert!!! Message from the 'Guild master'!!]

[ Haha… Brother. Why don't you come to the guild today? We have an important thing to discuss with you.]

[ Alert!! Message from the 'Lord'!!]

[ Good morning, sir. We are having a meeting scheduled for today at the guild. Hope you will grace us with your presence in the meeting. As for the time for our meeting today, It would be at one in noon, right after the missions in the bulletin are refreshed.]

And… the time I was going to give for myself was destroyed by the two messages from the guild master and the lord.

" They sure know how to destroy the peaceful atmosphere." Even the sumptuous meal I was preparing started looking pale, its aroma getting weaker as I looked at the message flashing on my ring.

" I still have time" I tried to cheer up myself as it was just eight in the morning by the time the breakfast was prepared.

I trained for about two hours after breakfast. Left-handed swordsmanship and chaotic battle art, these two were the ones I trained with. The 'Armor of Rune' was also activated, encapsulating me within the scarlet armor.

As for Scribbling with runes, I wasn't interested in drawing anything today.

"Heck, I wasn't even interested in going to the guild", but having a message from both the guild master and Lord was giving me a hard time.

" Should I revoke my identity as a protector?"

Nah, I was enjoying the peaceful environment on the property. No one was here to disturb me, it was a haven for somebody like me. And l, I wasn't going to leave this place just because of some message from two elites.

It was twelve thirty in the noon by the time I was done with everything I needed to do before getting ready to go to the guild. The mask adorned my face, protecting it from the prying eyes of others, long coat with gold linings covered my body with one long sword strapped on my back.

I was back to my character as Grey, the merciless warrior who single-handedly killed the tier-3 monster in the stampede while also soloing the dungeon yesterday.

" Should have inscribed rune on my long coat and longsword", I was thinking to myself as I walked towards the guild. 

Several people were pointing at me, their gaze filled with awe and reverence. But I paid no heed as I walked towards the guild. Or did I pay the heed to them….

" Yup, I definitely needed the rune of stealth."

Tik… Tok… 

Looking at the clock that was showing 'two' by the hour hand, I couldn't help but get frustrated. 

" Where are you guys?"

It was the message I had sent to the guild master and the lord as I sat on the chair, getting bored because I wasn't able to do anything in the hall. This was already the fifth time I sent the same message, asking them about their arrival. I was getting frustrated but I had no choice as I was the protector of this freaking town.

" Dang, I will surely revoke the contract." 

It had already been more than an hour after I entered the room. I had arrived at the guild just in time, five minutes earlier if I had to say. But, nobody was here, even the staff that led me to this room didn't know about the time for their arrival making me irritated.

" They must be coming." It was the thought I had when I didn't see anybody at first but as the time progressed by, my brain couldn't help but wander itself, thinking about several possibilities for their absence. 

" Why am I here?" Now, I was questioning the life decision I had taken due to my greed for a peaceful environment(Property) that day. 

Five minutes later....

[ We will be there within a minute.] 

It had already been five minutes after this message was replied to me by the lord. This wasn't the first time this message had been sent to me by those two freakers as they had done the same with every message I sent them.

Bang…

I looked at the table that had been destroyed due to my punch. My face was filled with anger, Nightmare was in my hands ready to cut anyone that dared to come in front of me.

" Did they think of me as a pushover?" My thunderous roar reverberated within the whole guild, scaring everyone who was in the guild. The aura that I had been suppressing till now gradually surfaced inside the room, suppressing others who were in the guild.

I waited for five more minutes before moving outside, ready to leave the guild and return to my place. This five minute was the longest five minutes of my life, of course, the time spent while obtaining the rune from the legacy was excluded from it.

My mind was slowly getting filled with bloody sceneries, getting influenced by one of the runes on me, exciting me in the process. I was having a hard time suppressing such thoughts resulting in me slowly losing control over myself. 

Bang…

I left the guild, smashing the door of the room to oblivion in the process. My steps were somewhat chaotic, the false aura of strength encapsulated me, making everyone fear me. I had a longsword in my left hand, ready to slice anyone that wanted to stop me. As for my right hand, Nightmare was already manifested, ready to drink the blood of anyone who had been slain by the sword.

Well, I was prepared for the blood, but nobody was ready to have their blood spill on the ground making me disappointed yet thankful at the same time. I really wanted to bathe myself in the blood of anyone that came in front of me.

My mind was filled with thirst for blood as it was getting influenced by the rune that was getting fueled by my anger and frustration. If anyone had dared to stop me from exiting this area, I might really have wreaked havoc in this town, becoming an even more disastrous monster than I had been while living in Lumia, hunting the culprits mercilessly.

" Human…. Why have you come to my castle?" 

I looked at the monster that was flying above me looking at me like an ant that could be squashed by it any time. My body was covered with blood from every monster I had mercilessly killed till now, the blood lust I had on me had already subsided but I didn't leave any fairies alive as I was enjoying the sensation of the blood that was doing its wonder on me.

I wasn't covered by Runic armor nor did I have the shield on me, just the long sword that had sufficed while dealing with these monsters. Even the excited rune had stopped influencing me after having killed every monster in this dungeon except the 'Blood Mother'.

 I was going overboard while killing these monsters. My blade killed any fairy that came on its way, even those that were several meters were killed by the aura that had been generated by my blade. 

" Rise, My minions. Kill the intruder in the name of this lord."

The same dialogue and the same action of swirling its hand in the air. I didn't even bother for it to complete its actions before jumping up in the air. I grabbed the monster by its neck, yanked it down from the air, and slammed it into the ground killing it in the process. 

The abomination that had just burst out from the ground wasn't even able to roar before its controller was killed. I looked at the abomination, it was still grotesque but didn't feel as dangerous as it had been when battling it for the first time.

Bang..

My legs couldn't hold me as I fell to the ground, taking in deep breaths as I felt the strength slowly leaving my body. The blood thirst may have gone but the way I had dealt with the monsters here wasn't humanly possible if I hadn't been influenced by the rune that had made me able to even battle with all the monsters without even blinking for a second.

" Damn, isn't it deadly if the rune would make me useless every time it gets satisfied with the blood?" This was the question that my legacy had the answer to.

Or, Didn't it have the answer to.
