Chapter 39: Battling the Ogres

Grunt...

Roar...

Bang...

The entire hall reverberated with the battle cries of ogres, accompanied by the destructive noise of pillars cracking and crumbling under the relentless assault. The battle between the ogres and me was fierce; I dispatched any ogre I landed my fist on, while they inflicted damage on me with their powerful punches.

The battle had raged on for thirty minutes since the battle began. My hands were soaked in the greyish blood of the monsters before me. I had already dispatched more than twenty ogres with my bare hands, crushing their bodies as they dared to challenge me. The scene was gory, with splattered brain matter and destroyed hearts of several ogres littering the ground, dyeing it with a greyish hue.

Badum… Badum…

Staring at the still-beating greyish heart in my grasp, I marveled at the resilience of these creatures. Despite having their hearts removed, they remained vigorous, launching desperate attacks to reclaim their vital organ.

These ogres possessed extraordinary vitality, akin to tanks brimming with sheer physical power capable of crushing adversaries with ease. And, I was killing these monsters with my bare hands.

Their punches were not just painful; they were nearly incapacitating. I was brought on the brink of unconsciousness once when a blow on my stomach nearly emptied my lungs of air, leaving me dizzy for about two seconds. Such a short span of time may seem insignificant, but for these monsters, it was ample to unleash a barrage of strikes that could heavily injure peak transcendents while killing the unlucky ones.

"Also their punches weren't something everybody could protect themselves against." They were showering me with punches from every side making it hard for me to deal with them properly.

Even with my elite-level defense, I struggled to shield myself from their relentless assaults. Their tier might be at the entry level of transcendent, but their two skills and immensely powerful physique elevated them to the brink of peak transcendent rank making them a hard opponent to deal with.

I had refrained from using my combat technique, opting instead to gauge my limits against these formidable foes. This decision resulted in me dealing with several heavy blows, feeling the weight of each strike resonate through my body.

I dared to engage them without weapons or runes, relying solely on my bare hands and physical prowess because they were lower-ranked, and my two basic attributes were at the elite rank, granting me with edge over them in the battle.

These tier-2 monsters were at the lower end of their rank's attributes, making them suitable for such a test. If they were at intermediate ranks of 'Transcendent' and had other skills in their arsenal, the battle would have been different from the one I was participating in.

"I might have been forced to use my runes along with weapons to kill these monsters."

Squelch...

With a final squeeze, I crushed the heart in my grip, bringing an end to the ogre that had continued to assault me even without its vital organ.

These were the monsters I was trying to solo today inside the Dungeon filled with several other ogres that were more powerful than the ones I was battling with.

Five hours later….

I was slumped in one of the pillars that was still standing in the hall, taking deep breaths and trying to calm my heart that had been forced to overclock as several ogres had assaulted me for the entirety of time without letting me take even a proper breath to adjust my body.

I dispatched each ogre that charged at me in a frenzied onslaught, instilling fear even in these warmongering beasts that lived for war. By the time their numbers had dwindled to around twenty, they weren't even attacking me but were trying to run away, fearing me for I had single-handedly massacred their brethren numbering more than hundreds.

My eyes were bloodshot, and my body was covered in wounds. The relentless battle had left me feeling dizzy, as I had been unable to catch even a moment's breath while battling them. And those infuriating creatures had me gasping for breath several times due to the sheer power of their punches.

Roar.....

Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed through the hall, shaking the very floor beneath me. As the thunderous noise subsided, a new, even more formidable monster appeared before me, ready to continue the relentless onslaught.

'' I wasn't even ready for the battle right now.''

"Well, who asked me to overestimate my strength and enter the most dangerous dungeon within our town by myself, without even bothering to learn about the battles that I would be taking part in after entering the dungeon?"

No one.

"And, was anyone going to help me out of this predicament?"

None.

So, I did the best thing in the situation and got ready to battle the monster in front of me. Longsword had been unsheathed, now resting peacefully in my left hand, ready to drink the blood of the monster that was standing in front of me.

________________________________________________

Monster: Brown Ogre

Tier: 2(Uncommon)

Skills: [Brute strength] [Regeneration(Intermediate)] [Club Adept]

The more powerful variant of Ogre residing in this area. Has greater strength and resilience than its grey counterpart. Especially lives as a guard protecting the entrance to the living chambers where other powerful ogres reside.

__________________________________________________

The monster in front of me was even two heads taller than the grey ones, its body was a shade of brown resembling the bark of a tree due to several scars left on its body. These scars told the story of several ferocious battles it had fought to protect the Ogres that it was protecting. The bony club it was carrying over its shoulder was even more dangerous because the amount of blood lust this club was emanating was off the charts, even greater than its master who was looking at me.

And now, that same monster stood before me with its partner, its dark eyes fixed on me, ready to strike the moment I made a move. The one who roared earlier was looking at me with disdain, for I was an unworthy opponent who required such a long time to finish every worthless creature in the hall.

Only its partner that was one head shorter than it was coming towards me, its eyes shining with brutality. It was swinging its club towards me as if trying to taunt me before killing me with a single strike.

Huuuu....

Looking at these two monsters in front of me, I was finally able to relax my body as dealing with these two was going to be way more easier than dealing with those hundreds of monsters earlier.

These two might be more individually powerful than their grey counterpart, but their number was just two, several times less than the grey ones.

This time, I wasn't in a hurry to engage in battle because I was still recovering from the fatigue I had accumulated while massacring the monsters earlier.

I even had the time to enjoy the little show the monster in front of me was showing while swinging its club in the area, trying to taunt me!!!

"Was it trying to intimidate me??"

It was amusing for me. The monster wasn't strong enough to intimidate me, nor was I out of my mind to start battling with it when I was clearly given a moment of respite to gather myself by the monster showing off its club-swinging skills.

Grunt...

This idiotic play went on for about two minutes before the one standing behind it couldn't take it anymore and ordered it to deal with me.

I could clearly feel the contempt that Ogre had for me but I wasn't bothered by it as I didn't have the mood to throw a tantrum just because the monster inside a Freaking Dungeon disdained me.

Instead, I was slightly grateful for it because it gave me enough time to gather myself and calm down in those two minutes, as its subordinate swung the club, attempting to taunt ... or intimidate me.

Roar...

Shhiiiing...

Whimper....

It only took a single swing from my blade before the once-lively Ogre lay motionless, a fountain of blood spraying all over me. Its decapitated head, with a smile still etched on its face, now lay in front of its senior, who looked towards me with slight amazement.

It was refreshing to see the disdain on its face change into slight amazement before extreme hatred within a moment after looking at the decapitated head belonging to its subordinate.

"Was it your son??"

I couldn't help but taunt the grieving monster that was looking at me with extreme hatred. Even the serene aura surrounding it had changed into that of extreme bloodlust, its club ready to beat me into meat paste for I had killed its only child and family.

"Was I someone who feared blood and death?"

Hell Nah.

Roar....

Shhhhiiiiingggg...

The battle between a lone human and a towering monster began with a single clash between the two creatures. One was enjoying the fight, while the other fought for its life, having lost its last family member to the human standing before it.

Anddd....
