Chapter 16

Jenny intimately linked arms with Edith and laughed, "Edith is truly the most admirable person in my life!" 

Edith gently patted her head, "Don't flatter me!"

Seeing their close relationship, Ivy felt a bit more at ease.

Recalling how Alston had been so protective of Edith yesterday, Ivy suddenly had a guess. 

She had already noticed yesterday that Alston and Edith must be old acquaintances.

It's no wonder Alston was showing such care towards Edith.

It's just that she prejudged and took it for granted that Edith must be Alston's girlfriend. 

She never imagined there could be this other situation.

At this moment, there was another sudden knock at the door. 

Tony's voice came through, "Edith, I'm here to pick you up after work!"

Edith looked helpless, turned her head, and sure enough saw the well-dressed Tony.

Tony had made a special effort with his hairstyle today, clearly having put some thought into his appearance.

"Edith, I'm here!" 

Edith turned her head helplessly, while Tony sidled up to her. 

"Tada!"

Tony took out a bouquet of roses from behind his back.

Edith was speechless, "What's this? Who still uses roses to court people these days!"

Tony awkwardly scratched his nose, but still forcefully stuffed the bouquet into Edith's arms.

"It's for you, you can't refuse!"

Edith could only accept them.

"Why did you come?"

Tony looked eager to be praised and said with a smile, "Of course I came to pick you up after work!"

Edith shook her head, "I can just take a taxi back. You don't need to come all this way to pick me up!"

Hearing this, Tony immediately looked dissatisfied, "That won't do, let me show you my new car!"

After saying that, Tony grabbed Edith without letting her refuse and walked off.

Watching their departing figures, for some reason, Ivy finally breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems she may have overthought things.

Not to mention that Alston and Edith are not at all related, how could they possibly have suddenly become boyfriend and girlfriend? 

Moreover, his protectiveness of Edith that day was only because Ivy was in the wrong.

And Edith is Jenny's home tutor.

So Alston's words to her that day were understandable.

Now that Tony was constantly pestering Edith, Ivy felt even more at ease.

Very soon, Tony pulled Edith into the car and finally showed off, "Isn't this car cool?" 

Edith looked speechlessly at the flashy car in front of her, having to admit it was indeed in Tony's style.

"Nice, nice!"

Edith could only flatter him.

However, Tony's eyes suddenly lit up.

"Do you like it? If you like it, I'll give you one!"

This is just having so much money that it makes one oblivious to propriety!

Edith quickly shook her head, "That's okay, just forget about it!"

Since Edith had rejected him, Tony didn't insist further.

So Tony immediately started the engine to leave, "Where are you going? Let me give you a ride! Don't you want to join me for..."

Before he could finish, Edith cut him off directly. 

Edith was afraid Tony would pester her again, so she hurriedly said, "Just take me back to school quickly, I have classes to teach!"

Tony sighed, "You really are such a busy person!"

But he still sent Edith to the school.

This extremely flashy sports car attracted the attention of countless people as soon as it arrived at the school gate. 

Everyone gathered and paused to see who was in this car.

Sharon, who happened to be at the school gate, had also noticed the situation here.

She frowned, "Whose car is this?"

Soon the woman who got out of the car left Sharon shocked. 

It was Edith. 

Edith was even holding a bouquet of roses, getting out of the passenger seat and walking towards the school gate.

Tony then hurried after her.

After saying a few words to Edith, Tony finally left.

For some reason, the smile at the corner of Tony's mouth as he left deeply unsettled Sharon.

Sharon never imagined that Tony really was Edith's boyfriend. 

This made her feel envious.

"What's so good about Edith, to have all these men flocking around her!"

She had seen with her own eyes Alston send Edith to school before. 

Now Tony was also kowtowing under Edith's skirts. 

How could she tolerate this?

"She just attracts admirers, even with Alston it wasn't enough, she had to go lure in Tony too!"

Sharon was furious, her teeth itching.

Thinking that Louis also liked Edith, the envy in her heart just couldn't be suppressed.

So she simply spread this news openly and loudly. 

Soon there was a heated discussion on campus about Edith's character.

Many said Edith was capricious as a willow tree, with a foot in two boats.

Of course, there were also many who believed this had nothing to do with Edith.

Sharon spread rumors everywhere that Edith was impure, soon indirectly hinting to Louis not to like Edith anymore.

Louis's expression was difficult to read. 

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Sharon stubbornly continued, "The whole school is talking about it now. Before, Edith got in Alston's car, now she's together with Tony. Isn't that capricious as a willow tree in water?"

Louis took a deep breath.

"You're mistaken. Edith definitely wouldn't be that kind of person."

Sharon sneered twice, "I'm mistaken? It's not just me saying this, the whole school is talking about it!"

After hearing this, Louis was filled with uncontrollable rage.

He angrily grabbed Sharon's hand.

"You know what should and shouldn't be said!"

Sharon was a bit scared and backed away a few steps.

But Louis still threatened directly, "I don't want to hear that again a second time, or else I'll make you regret it!"

After saying this, Louis left the classroom. 

The whole way, Louis's mood wavered unsteadily, constantly imagining Edith's situation.

He could accept Edith with Alston, he could accept Edith with Alston, but he just couldn't accept Tony.

How could he tolerate this? 

Thinking this way, Louis became furious.

So he went to block Edith at the classroom door.

Seeing the red-eyed Louis in front of her, Edith had an ominous premonition. 

But she pretended to remain calm.

"Louis, what are you doing here?"

Louis took a deep breath, "Are you together with Tony now?"

Edith paused, clearly not expecting Louis to say such words. 

She instinctively shook her head, "What nonsense are you talking!"
