Two days passed for James to get fully healed. He wanted to leave after a days' rest, however, he was not allowed by the medic to leave if he wanted to be useful in the future. Therefore with command from the higher ups, James took an extra day to rest up and heal-up his wounds.
The change of room has helped him with his rest. The improved bed from the room change is more comfortable compared to the run down room he had. His accommodation now is also with the other knights. Even though most knights still did not see him as their equals, James had indeed proved himself to some small groups with his achievements.
Exiting the building, James stood in the courtyard, taking a deep breath of fresh air. As he was stuck in his room for the whole day yesterday, he sure missed getting outside. The view outside was familiar to him. The soldiers gathered up in the courtyard, like the day they had arrived and left for the battle. In the past days, the schedule of what will be done had been explained to the knights. Every morning there would be a training exercise for an hour. This was in order to enhance the reflexes and pump up the adrenaline, of the soldiers before the fight started.
Afterwards, if there was no horn blown, the soldiers split into two different shifts. One would stay back and continue training, while the other half would station on the walls. This was done in shifts, and changed every few hours. However, when the horn was blown, all the knights left for the wall within 20 minutes, no matter what state they were in.
As James walked into the courtyard, he was greeted by several other knights. Some even motioned him to come over, as they had started to grow some respect towards him. One knight even approached him. This knight was older compared to James, however compared to the most, was still rather young.
"Good morning James, I am glad that you could finally join us. I cannot wait to fight alongside you in the upcoming battles." The knight said eagerly. James remembered who he was. During the first day, this knight was in a pickle fighting one of the devil beasts. If James did arrive a bit later, he might not stand here at all today.
"I am glad to be back, Francis." James said smiling. "I was getting tired and lazy from all that laying around all day. I can finally pick up my sword and swing it again."
Francis Bridges, from the Bridges family comes from the northern region of the kingdom. His family is one of the middle tiered nobles, however they are a bit in a pickle. As Francis' father has some gambling addiction, the family is the brink of losing their medium nobility status and might degrade into a low tier noble. To offset this, Francis went to the king's city to take up any possibility to improve the prestige of his family back up again.
During his rest, James was visited a few times by Francis and they started to get to know each other better. This has affected James in a positive way, as he now finally felt that he was not left out anymore. Now he had at least someone which he could hang out with during his stay in Hermes.
