Fifty-One

As soon as they reached me I arched an eyebrow.

"Am I some sort of monster that will kill you instantly from you getting near it? Why are you two so scared?" I waited and the two looked at each other before both broke into speech at the exact same moment.

"Dad threatened that he would tie us up and hang us off the tower if we did anything like that again to you!" Arthur cried at the same time as Lance did.

"Yeah and my parents were searching the entire town to because I 'disgraced them' and we're furious! They said they'd get me an escort soon if I didn't start putting others in danger because of my will fullness! Do I not matter at all?" I laughed but it only fueled their talking even further.

"Dad says he's doubling both of our hand-to-hand combat and weapon training too! We already had two hours mandatory plus two hours of school! Now it's four hours of training, two hours each of both! How are we going to survive that plus all the homework?"

"Yeah and their making you get a bodyguard soon because we're quote on quote 'bad influences' and 'dangerous individuals' and they want someone with you in case we get near you! Are WE animals?" I laughed hysterically at two before calming down to talk again.

"Bodyguard?" I looked at his Majesty and he looked back determinatedly and I sighed.

"Fine, but only until I can use magic again ok?" This time the Queen stepped in, fierce and unwavering in her voice.

"No. You will have one and keep it! My son gets you into far to much trouble and these ones will likely be just the same! I am NOT going to allow this to run unchecked! Those two are also having escorts arranged because of their shenanigans and you will to. Besides, yours will be picked by the King, and I am certain he won't let you get a lackluster guard." I looked at her for a long moment before I finally spoke again.

"Why do you want to protect me so badily?" And at that moment both of them exchanged looks and I looked at both of them, and then the two boys who didn't meet my eye.

"Well, it's because of your mother..." The Queen's voice faded though, and I stared at her until she shrinked away.

"Mom's position isn't enough to do this, why are you trying so hard?" And finally the King spoke.

"The late king wasn't a faithful man..." Oh. Wait does that mean...

"My mom is...?" I stared blankly.

"On documents she's the seventh princess, and technically you are a princess as well. That is why, however it isn't very widely known, only a few knew, and until you turn eleven and have to make your debut we weren't going to say anything about it... It's safer..." I struggled to get out of his arms and he looked hurt.

"How could you not say anything? Let me down!" I struggled and he finally placed me on the floor, I took five long strides (for me, don't judge me I'm still small ok?!) and then turned to face him and crossed my arms and huffed. How dare he hide something like that! Why didn't anyone say anything?
