Rise To Stardom

Orphaned in the old world after taking care of his irresponsible and sick mother for years on end, Kyle finds his life turned upside down. His already dim world turns even gloomier and coupled with his trauma from losing her, Kyle felt like he had lost his purpose in life. Living day by day, akin to a soulless puppet, he struggled to keep his suicidal thoughts in check, all whilst trying to make ends meet as a cabbie. During those dark times, Kyle slowly begins to find solace in the world of music and movies. Even though it had always been there, it truly became something as a bloodline of sorts for him because, individually, both pieces of media, transported him to another world, one where he could feel happy, if even for a fleeting moment. And, as if the universe wanted even more for him, Kyle met some lovely old people, all of whom treated him as the son they never had, making him feel like he had a family after so long. This eventually, helped him let go of his trauma and turned him into the lovely soul he was always meant to be. But as fate would have it, these same people, wanted for Kyle to pursue his dreams because they saw the potential for greatness in him and the wonderous things he could go on to do, even if Kyle himself was oblivious to it. So, in an effort to make his dreams come true, they ended up gifting him a brand new chance, one that Kyle himself would only go on to realize after his untimely death in a fatal car accident. Now awake in the new world, still orphaned but with a brighter perspective on life, Kyle, armed with a System, another gift from his loved ones in the previous world, decides to take the chance to pursue his dreams of being a star, one that he was unable to pursue in his previous life due to his lack of talent. This is the story of a man who will go on to become the most versatile and renowned superstar all over the world... and it starts, just as he takes his first step into the cutthroat world of fame and fortune by registering for the popular singing reality TV competition, 'Rising Voices'. Known to be a fiercely competitive TV show, Kyle will meet with top contestants from around the world, go up against them, level up and become better, and ultimately, battle with them for the number one spot in the show as a dark horse! --- |AUTHOR NOTE| Just wanted to make it clear, that the singing competition which will be the first arc of the novel, will end around the late twenty-ish or early thirty-ish chapters. After that, you can expect so much more from the story so look forward to it! Also, although the setting is in a parallel world, all the songs, scripts and movies (although I will draw inspiration here and there), will be originals penned by yours truly (-‿◦).

Little Minxes

<Why do you write your spells in French anyway?> a curious Kyle asked.

<Just because I can> Christina replied with a smug smile.

<That's so odd> Kyle chuckled, a thin smile on his lips.

The lady had a radiant expression form on her features in response to that as she kept nodding happily.

Sitting side-by-side on a long table placed on the stage in the lively theatre club, both individuals kept conversing in sign language, Kyle remembering the spell from some of her other scripts and finding her quirk a bit amusing.

The stage itself had quite a bunch of people rehearsing a few lines of a play they were going to perform next month, Ryan among them and trying his hardest to master his lines despite the small role he was given.

A bunch of ladies who had been watching, giggled and exchanged hushed whispers between themselves as they enjoyed Kyle and Christina interactions, some ladies even squealing slightly.

Haley who was also present in the auditorium and was sitting far away from the stage, pretended to focus on her phone, although she frequently kept sneaking glances at the young man, a bit of annoyance and jealousy creeping into her mind.

"Hey Christina! I need your help with this part of the script!" one of the other members of the club suddenly called out from backstage and the lady reluctantly got off the table with a slight pout.

Signaling to Kyle, she said;

<I'll be back>

<I'll be waiting>

After replying to her, the pretty lady practically skipped along as she left to help out the guy who had requested for her help.

Katie and Lily on the other hand who had also been watching their entire interaction, glanced over to themselves and nodded, a whole conversation already exchanged between them judging by the mischievous expression on their faces.

What actually became amusing though, was how the same bunch of ladies who had previously been watching, suddenly moved in on Kyle and began to give him the exact same exact mischievous looks.

Noticing the gazes of many ladies on him, he soon raised his head from the script he was reading and tilted his head slightly.

"What?" he asked curiously, wondering what the girls were up to.

If they wanted him to perform another song again, Kyle wasn't particularly going to reject their wishes. It did serve as good practice for him after all.

Also, considering they had already bombarded him with as many questions as they wanted over the past few days he'd been coming to the theatre club, he'd expected all their curiosity about him to have completely died down.

That didn't seem to be the case though… or so he thought.

"You, are an exceptionally dangerous man Kyle Kestis!" one of the girls suddenly said and like a stack of dominoes, all the other ladies burst into a wave of laughter!

What they had been getting at obviously, was how animated Christina seemed to be around him, indicating that she clearly liked him, though not in the romantic sense.

Besides, they all found it cute how they interacted but Kyle didn't even have any of such thoughts in mind considering he was just communicating with the lady as he normally would.

He also enjoyed experiencing the lady's stories because she wrote really interesting ones worth reading.

The script he was reading right now especially, was one that he had already reread a few times over.

Slightly tilting his head in confusion at the ladies' laughter though, Kyle eventually sighed in resignation and resumed reading the script.

This was one of the many things the ladies in the theatre club on the other hand, had come to like about him over his short visits to their club… just how calm, mature and down-to-earth he was with them, even when they were practically being little minxes.

The amount of questions he had been subjected to respond to alone was enough to make the average person decide to run away but Kyle had just taken it all in and replied the best he could.

Much to their surprise and disappointment though, the young man still did not have any main social media handle they could follow him on.

"Alright people! Let's take it from the top again!" Katie, club president, finally brought everyone's attention to the stage after a while.

"Whose scenes are we going to be acting out first?" one of the members suddenly asked and Katie mused to herself for a short moment.

"Let's go with Austin and Lily's part! Scene 7!" she clapped and instantly, everyone who wasn't supposed to be on stage, filtered themselves away to the auditorium's chairs, Kyle included.

Soon, Lily, dressed in a cheap-looking gown that dated back to the 19th century, made her way up to the stage.

"Um, Austin still isn't back yet!" someone suddenly called out from backstage.

"What?! Why not?! What's he up to now?!" Katie asked, a bit of disdain in her tone.

"Well apparently he said he wasn't feeling too well a few seconds ago and he needed to use the restroom. Haven't seen him since then" one of Austin's acquaintances explained to her.

'Or he's probably shagging with another girl as usual…' the lady frowned whilst thinking to herself.

Letting out an annoyed sigh while massaging her temples, Katie then said;

"Sorry Lily. We may have to push your rehearsal back a few scenes"

"It's fine. When Austin comes, we'll sort it out" the dark-blonde beauty replied.

And just like that, Kyle, along with the rest of the small audience present, watched all the other people act out their scenes until Katie was satisfied with their performances.

However, even by the time the others were all done, Austin still hadn't arrived, causing everyone to be quite annoyed, some even sighing in mild frustration.

It didn't even need to be said before everyone collectively knew that he was probably having another make-out session or whatnot with another girl again.

Although the dude was fairly good at acting, he usually had a tendency to pull stunts like this, only to pretend like he never even did anything wrong in the first place when he finally arrived.

Maybe it was due to the fact that he had already starred in a few indie movies at his young age, the young man didn't particularly give much importance to the club's activities.

Basically, Austin was a prideful, big ol' douchebag a lot of the time.

At some point, as if already tired of waiting for the douche, Katie gave up and then spoke;

"Let's just allow someone else play Austin's part for now…"

"I mean, he pretty much already has the scenes down but, considering Lily and I will be traveling back to L.A tomorrow, her rehearsals need to be done with today!" she declared.

"So, anyone willing to volunteer?" their club president asked.

Instantly, all the guys began to pretend as if they didn't hear those words, some even moving a few rows back, leaving a confused Kyle in the front row with many other ladies who just burst into laughter again.

Even Lily who was on stage couldn't help but chuckle whenever situations like this arose.

The reason why the guys had all behaved in such a manner was because Lily would always outshine them whenever they acted a scene together, even when she was seriously holding back.

So, despite having a chance to act with the campus belle, they'd all rather protect their fickle pride and ego.

The only person who was quite good at matching Lily to a certain extent though, was Austin of course and yet, he was nowhere to be found.

Sighing again, her hands on her hips, Katie's eyes soon landed on Kyle who seemed to find the entire situation curious.

Considering she had seen Kyle re-read the exact script they were practicing now due to Christina conversing happily with him over it, an idea instantly came into her head.

"Say Kyle, would you be willing to help us out here, please? You can even take the script onstage" she pleaded with puppy eyes.

The moment she did though, all the other ladies in the hall, as if on cue, followed up with pleading eyes directed at the young man, their own hidden intentions obvious.

'These ladies… they just want to play dress up on me don't they?' he squinted at some of them who instantly averted their gaze as if they had been caught red-handed.

Ryan, along with the other guys in the theatre club just shook their heads in resignation at their shameless female club members and their obvious, hidden agenda.

Musing to himself for a few more seconds though, Kyle's heart's rate gradually quickened in excitement despite his outward appearance been completely calm.

In fact, it had actually been beating very fast from the moment Katie had requested for his help.

Acting was something he had grown to become passionate about in his past life and finally, this was a chance for him to act!

Regardless of how insignificant it was in the grand scheme of things, the young man finally had the chance to bring a character to life and he was more than willing to take it!

"Well, if you all insist…" he replied after a short while and everyone in the auditorium cheered happily at that.
