The Black Cat, Part Eighteen

Exhaustion gnawed at Zenith, a relentless ache that spread from her throbbing muscles to the pit of her stomach.

[Ah, shit. I feel like I weigh a thousand pounds right now.]

Although {Ferocious} gave Zenith stamina every time she hit an enemy, apparently, the amount was not enough to give her infinite stamina or anything like that.

Right now, each step she took felt like wading through mud.

A glance back confirmed she wasn't alone in this feeling. Asuka, usually brimming with nervous energy, looked like a wilting flower, pale and drawn.

Even Emi, perpetually restless, moved with a sluggishness that spoke volumes.

The trail of carnage they'd left behind was a morbid comfort. A pile of gutted goblins here, a smoldering skeleton there, and the fresh corpse of a particularly nasty orc that had taken a nasty swipe at Emi.

The constant fighting was getting old, to be honest.
