Reverberations from the past.

"What do you see when you look at me?" Vanessa asked, as she stared tearily at Raymond. "Broken? Hurt? Mad? Dangerous?" "Vanessa. That's all I see. I see you, Vanessa" Raymond replied shortly, as he bent on his knees to caress her cheeks. "A vulnerable Vanessa?" she asked "No. I see Vanessa, a woman struggling to make things right" he replied honestly. "I'm sorry I dragged you into this. I'm so sorry" she said almost in a whisper, but he heard her due to their close proximity. "You didn't do anything wrong. I should be apologizing instead. Vanessa, I..." "Stop, Raymond! Just don't. I can't even look you in the eyes" she said as she looked down. "You lost almost everything because of me. I'd understand if you blame me. But please don't apologize to me" she said as she wept uncontrollably. Raymond pulled her into his arms, kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly. "I'd never blame you, Vanessa. Never" "Raymond, can we start all over again when all these end?" "No..." ***** Aida grew up in a lovely home, with mother out of the picture. Chapter 53 Intruder

Theodore felt Raven's presence and his eyes turned to look in his direction instinctively. Their eyes briefly met, distracting Theodore for a second, and he almost got hit by Arnold. Cindy who kept her eyes fixed on her husband looked worriedly at him.

'At this rate, they'll all find out he's not human' Cindy thought.

Theodore kept dodging their attacks. Without a doubt, he knew these five people had inhuman strengths, and he wondered if they were indeed humans who had been brought this far by sheer hardwork or they were supernatural beings like him. He enjoyed dodging their carefully launched attacks and nothing amused him more than their confused expressions when he dodges their attacks. Their bodies kept moving for the next twenty minutes, non-stop, yet they couldn't even touch a strands of Theodore's hair. All the other members in the room were keenly observing the show that they all failed to notice Raven who leaned against the wall, relaxed, as he watched Theodore.

"Quit now, y'all. It's twenty minutes already" Kelly announced.

They stopped moving, and they all kept breathing heavily, except Theodore who looked calm. Cindy released a breath she didn't know she was holding. When Theodore raised his eyes to look in the direction of Raven, he realized he was no longer there.

"I guess it's settled then. My three men will be enough to guard this mansion" Theodore said, grinning happily.

"Well, for now, we can only agree to it" Caleb retorted as they took their respective seats. Cindy tagged along Theodore, who wrapped his hand protectively around her waist. After taking their seats, Cindy noticed Ciara looked more like she was in a trance.

"Ciara" Cindy called out softly, but loud enough for the others to hear. Ciara didn't respond nor move. Edith who sat close to Ciara tapped her on her shoulder, and Ciara snapped out of her daze, suddenly becoming conscious of her environment.

"Are you alright?" came the calm voice of Cindy.

"Yeah, I am" Ciara replied nodding.

"Is there anything else anyone would like to bring to our notice?" Caleb asked, and stared at everyone present in the room. When he realized no one had anything to add, he summarized, all they discussed and they adjourned the meeting, and they all dispersed.

Theodore turned to Cindy when they arrived in front of their room caressing her left cheek, he said;

"There's something I have to check upstairs. Go inside first. I'll come back in a few minutes"

Cindy raised her eyebrows, looking questionably at him.

"You can come with me if you want to. I don't mind you tagging along" Theodore offered.

"I'm not doubting you, Theo. I'm just worried. The last thing I want is others finding out about who you are. I..." Cindy began.

"You don't have to worry about that" Theodore interrupted and pulled her to him, eliminating any gap between them. He stared into her eyes for a while before crushing his lips with hers. After kissing her passionately, he pushed open the door, broke the kiss and gestured with his head (telling her to enter). Cindy slightly nodded and entered the room. Theodore closed the door behind her and began to walk upstairs.

Kelly tagged along Vanessa after the meeting. It was obvious the older woman wanted to have a private talk with Vanessa. Upon reaching Vanessa's room, Kelly sat comfortably on the edge of the bed. Vanessa climbed the bed, folding her legs, sat close to Kelly.

"Godmother, I am all ears" Vanessa said and Kelly smiled.

"We've got a lot of catching up to do. Don't we?"
