Why would the trial be delayed?

As expected, the trial took place on Monday. But, another situation came up. The case that they thought would close that day was postponed till further notice due to the protest of the abolishment of prosecutors. People strongly disagreed the availability of prosecutors. They believed that some prosecutors prove the innocent guilty and send them to jail. The protest was really strong to the extent that the press had to interview the chief prosecutor to hear out his opinion on the protest. When I heard about it, I couldn't tell my boss as things were awkward between us. I had not gotten over the fact that I almost had sex with him. I felt so much for Dave. Just how much would he had cried? I knew that those tears were too much for him to bear. Prosecutor Augustus might be sacked. He did nothing wrong.

"All blame is to go to the evil prosecutors who covered up the truth and punished the ignorants. But, can we really live without prosecutors in this world? If there were no prosecutors, what would become of lawyers? Would the law still remain the same? Lawyers defend, prosecutors accuse. If there were only defenders, would there be any accuser? The court to me is like a debate, the opposing and supporting team. If there were no opposing team, then is that a debate? The main reason why prosecution cannot be abolished is to make the law firm. We should come together to support the prosecution and punish the evil prosecutors. I generally don't support the idea of the abolishment of the prosecution. Even the prosecution itself is trying to sort things out, we hope that all the bad prosecutors that brings bad image to the prosecution will be removed. I hope the people would take this into consideration. We will do our best to fight for the citizens rights no matter what happens. " The chief prosecutor made his speech.

"What was that? Is the chief prosecutor this sweet?" Karina asked me. We had just finished watching the news.

"You really have no clue. How's it working with Dave? " I asked.

"Well, it's manageable. What would I have done? You forced me to defend him?"

"Ah! This is pissing me off. Why would everything fall on the same time? Firstly, issue with Miami book company, Dave murdered someone, Maya died, my boss is sick, trial dismissed, prosecution protest. Karina, what does this mean in your sense of reasoning?" I asked concerned.

"Well, in my own opinion, I think it's fate. " She said acting serious.

"Fate? Fate? I mean, what kind of fate is that?"

"It is to bring something out. Who knows, if Dave didn't murder his boss, maybe you would have? Or, maybe if your boss had not fallen sick, maybe I would have. That's how fate is. " She replied nodding her head positively.

"Wait, why did you link me up with Dave and link yourself up with my boss?" I asked her looking straight into her eyes.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You said it what happened to Dave didn't happen, it would have happened to me and if what had happened to Hart didn't happen to him, it would have happened to you. Are you kidding me?" I shouted.

"That's not what I mean. I think I fell for your boss. You didn't tell me your boss was that hot. I could not resist his hotness. If I have any chance, I will date him." She spouted.

"You cannot date him. He's not your type. You love dark short guys. My boss is so flirty. I can't make you get him. "

"Flirty? What did you mean by that? Is it that he is seductive?" I nodded my head. "How many times has he seduced you?"

"Once, in the hospital. He almost had sex with me. " I whispered.

"Oh my god!" She screamed.

"Lower your voice. You're the only one I'm telling. Don't tell anyone okay?" I asked.

"Wait. Did you two kiss?"

"Well... I didn't mean to. But, unfortunately we did. "

"This is a stupid fate. All what is happening right now is to bring the both of you together. Do you like him?" She asked me.

"Of course not. Why would I? I kissed him because I couldn't resist it. Anyone can feel that way right? " I asked.

"That's a relief. I thought you liked him. Hey, let me follow you to the hospital today. Maybe, he might fall for me?" She asked.

"No. I'm not planning to go there today. "

"Why? Are you embarrassed? Come on. You don't like him, it's just that you wanted him. Nothing is a big deal there. Let me go there with you. " She said biting her lips.

I was convinced by her and went over to the hospital. We entered the ward.

"Good evening sir." I greeted.

"Secretary Mesa, you're here. I thought you wouldn't come. " Hart replied without noticing Karina.

"This is Lawyer Karina, the one in charge of Mr Dave's case. " I said.

"Oh! Hello ma'am." He greeted as he bowed for her. I was moved. He never treated me with respect, then, he treated my best friend formally. Urggh!

"Nice meeting you sir. I have always wanted to meet you. But, here you are. " She replied smiling.

"This girl is pissing me off. Why did I bring her over to this place?" I thought.

"How's it going with Dave's case?" He asked.

"It's like you didn't see the news sir. There is currently a protest for the abolishment of the prosecution. Due to this, for now, I can't move further with the case till all these things go down. But, I'll try my possible best to make sure he would not go to jail. " Karina stated. I went to find a seat to sit as I thought the conversation would take longer than expected.

"That's bad. Poor Dave. Please, I urge you to do all what it takes. " Hart said — his face looking down.
