8. The forbidden forest (1): Promise to Beth

Vernox wore a battle robe a he prepared to leave. It had golden outlines and a golden dragon symbol behind symbolising the dragon kin race.

Checking himself out he smiled as he looked like some kind of anime main character.

*Clack*

Vernox was distracted by the sound of the door opening. He looked at who it was and sighed tiredly, although the person didn't know that she has been found out.

"I see you don't respect me enough to knock."

He turned around and saw a sexy black haired maid wanting to surprise him with her presence.

"Aww... I almost got you this time." Beth said with a pout.

'Uh... No you didn't.'

"Actually, the reason I called you is to tell you that I'll be leaving Azure for a while."

"What! Why?!" Beth shouted, confused as to why Vernox would want to leave the safety of the kingdom.

"I will challenge my brother for the throne soon. I want to grow my power as much as I can before then." Vernox said as he walked towards the window.

As if timing it, the wind immediately blew into the room. Vernox's robe fluttered and coupled with the sword in his hand he looked cool at the moment.

Beth licked her lips seductively as if she wanted to pounce on him but when she recalled what he just said, she looked at him with wide eyes.

"Wait! You know that's not possible because of your curse." Beth said sadly.

When the two princes were raised up, Vernox was always superior to Damien, in skills and magic. But it all ended when Vernox's evolution was blocked. No matter how much he tries, he won't ever improve.

This led to him becoming depressed and why he killed himself before.

The current Vernox was not like the former, he was way smarter, smart enough to create an absorption technique that will make a normal Recesser become a genius.

Vernox knew one thing for sure after he filtered through his memories. He wasn't cursed, he was poisoned... And he knows who did it.

"You think I was cursed?"

Hearing him, Beth it looked at him in confusion. Vernox shook his head slightly before continuing, "My dear Beth. I wasn't cursed, I was poisoned."

Beth: "..."

Beth stared at him dumbfounded. Vernox saw the need of explanation and began.

"How would a person, who was normal today, suddenly becomes unable to move anymore. Although curses can do that, I was in the palace when I had my first blockage."

Putting the pieces together Beth finally understood what he was saying. But if it was indeed true, then... The one that poisoned him was still in the castle.

"I have someone I'm suspecting but untill nothing is proved, I can't say anything."

The reason that Vernox had to be sure was of course, his system which he received from an unknown entity, along with the heavenly guide of course.

Even if the system wasn't there Vernox was not someone who was unreasonable. In his past life, everything he does always have a reason and he has been chasing his studies for years.

Now that he is in this new world where knowledge meant nothing, he was devastated. It's like studying for an exam and at the end, the questions on what you read didn't come out.

Now he has fully accepted this new world as it was. The only thing remaining for him now was to have power.

"Are you saying that you have a way to cure yourself?" Beth asked, curious as to what this boy had in mind.

Vernox didn't say anything and just smirked at her. He let energy from his soul core exude out of his body and when Beth felt it, her eyes widened uncontrollably.

"It–It's not possible. Soul king!"

Monster, a true monster. Even the strongest demon king's in history wasn't able to break through two main stages of soul evolution at once.

And if he has reached this level it means that he has removed his blockage.

"When..?"

Vernox racked his brain for answer as he didn't want to tell her that he absorbed that much soul energy in one night. No, that will be too much for her...

"I don't know but it's been a while."

With that simple answer Beth didn't ask any questions again and supported him.

"Can I go with you?"

Vernox looked at Beth with wide eyes as he heard that. She looked back at him with cute, pleading eyes.

If he wasn't a demon and had the experience of the previous Vernox, he probably won't be able to withstand Beth's charm if he was a human.

"I'm sorry. Don't worry, when I get back I'll be sure to compensate you."

Hearing his promise Beth smiled playfully as she said, "Make sure to reward me very well."

She said it slowly and so seductively that it was hard to not get a boner right now.

'Demon ladies just have to so hot. I should have been reincarnated in a world where I would be able to focus' Vernox thought as he fought the urge to grab a hold of her melons that threatened to spill out of the shirt she wore.

Seeing that Vernox didn't reply to her teasing this time and ignored her, Beth felt defeated, but it's just once though, she had numerous victories already.

"So where do you plan to go?"

Vernox didn't reply immediately and smiled.

"If I told you, you would worry too much." He simply said before grabbing his small bag and stepped out of the room. Beth quickly followed behind him and urged him to tell her.

"If you tell me, I won't worry, I promise."

Tired of her disturbing him, not that he despises the fact that boobs swayed in his sight he finally answered her with a smirk.

"I'm going to the forbidden forest."
