2. Heavenly guide

John finally looked around the room. The room was quite spatious. The walls were painted red with black stripes on it. The bed was big enough for a whole family by earth's standards.

John was extremely confused on what he was supposed to do now. From the memories of the boy which he inhabited, he seems to be a prince.

'Now why would a price kill himself for a girl?'

John had no answer to that so he just shrugged off the question as soon as it came into his mind.

'Wait a minute! Daeth!' he thought in shock.

Daeth was the name of the world of a fantasy game which he played on earth. Actually it was one of the few games he only played but it doesn't matter.

"Could it be that the world of the game and this world are the same?"

He was confused now. He was sent to this world with nothing. Normally, from the novels and anime's he watched the people who reincarnate gets a benefit to grow strong.

Most of them get a system, some get a powerful grandfather that will teach them... Some even get a genie, but what did he get.

"Oh! That's right. On that screen it said that I got a heavenly guide."

*Ding*

The low sound of a bell brought him out of his thoughts. He looked forward to see a blue screen displaying information about him.

John just stared at the screen which displayed correct info about this new body that he is in now.

The previous owner of the body was a genius with the sword. But he didn't have much talent when it came to magic, that was why he wasn't fit for the throne at all.

He is currently inside the demon castle in the demon kingdom Azure.

"If this world is really like the game then I know exactly what to do. After all, I played as a demon in the game.

John... Or should I say, Vernox stood up and walked to the mirror at the opposite side of the room to get a good look at himself.

"No... Way."

He had to blink a couple of times as he stared at his reflection in the mirror. What he was seeing was the same character he created in the game 'fantasy life' when he played it.

'Surely this cannot be a coincidence' he thought as he checked himself out.

He had short white hair with two red horns protruding from the sides of his head and curving upwards. His face was refined, with a smooth jawline and pink lips. His eyes were purple, a very light purple that made him look handsome and unique overall.

"Yep! It's him. I created this character to play Fantasy life." He said as he thought that his situation has probably passed coincidence.

He was reborn in the world of fantasy life, in the body of his character in fantasy life. If you that is not coincidence, then he doesn't know what is.

*Ding*

Vernox turned to his left as he heard that notification sound of the system.

"Ah ah!" Vernox looked at the sentence on the screen, wondering to himself whether something was wrong with the system.

How would a system tell you that you have power and not tell you how to use it... That's uselessness!

"I'm not even sure whether this heavenly guide will be useful," he said with disdain.

[Aww... Don't hurt my feelings]

Vernox's heart skipped a beat as he heard a feminine voice. He looked around and saw... Nothing.

'Did I just imagine that?'

[No!]

"What...! Who are you?"

This was getting really creepy. If he is really in a game world then... It will be the best thing that ever happened to him.

[I'm your heavenly guide. My duty is to guide you on your journey to become this world's protector] the voice explained.

"Oh. Okay."

That was all he could say. Even if they called him to be a villain he would do it. As long as he gets to live again.

In this new life that he has been given, nothing will stop him from reaching the top.

"I'm supposed to become this world's protector so I guess I need to get stronger," he said, sketching out his plan.

[Yes that's right. The first course of action will be to cleanse your body as there are remnants of poison present...]

Vernox listened carefully.

It seems like he was not the crown prince of Azure and his brother has already taken the throne.

'If I wish to get power, then I need to take the throne. But I'm not strong enough to face him now' he thought.

While he played the game with this character, his brother was very powerful from the start. If he is that powerful then... Vernox would have to be of the same level with him to challenge him.

'This world might be different from that of the game so I'll check his strength first'

He finally moved from where he stood and as he was about to walk out of the door, he heard a knock.

*Knock knock*

'Who could it be at this time?' he thought as he glanced outside to see that it was already dark.

"Come in!" He said as he went and sat on the bed.

The door of his room opened and a black haired beauty came in.

She had a beauty face and a perfect body to match with it.

Vernox recognised her at first glance.

"Beth." He murmured.

This black haired beauty was his childhood friend and one of the people that still gives him value despite his low talents.

"Are you okay? I heard what happened!" She said as she sat beside him.

"I, uh... It's okay. I don't actually care about that anymore." He said.

'Shit, I can't talk normally.' he thought as his eyes wandered into the open cleaverage of this girl.

"Whatever! Fiona may be the most talented demon but she took it a little too far!"

'Duh! It's also the former owner of this body's fault. He kept disturbing the girl so it's understandable'

"Just remember that I'm always here for you. No matter what." Beth said, looking at him with a slightly flushed face.

"Okay." Vernox said with a slight smile.

He remembered that he saved this girl when her family was assasinated years ago, and she has been close to him ever since.

Beth, she was really talented. A genius with the sword and a rare talent when it comes to magic.

Vernox's sword skills alone beat her's but when it comes to magic, they are incomparably far apart.
