18. Holy light rune skill: Absolute slash
Being scratched or bitten by a Corrupted meant that the person will become one of them. However, the corrupted prefers to devour their victims depending on the emotions that consumed them.
In this Vampire's case, hatred for humans. Vernox looked back at the village and saw Minova watching. He guessed that the vampire knew that Minova was a human, the one who he was after right now.
Vernox gritted his teeth as he vanished from his position. He appeared before the corrupted and slashed his sword down.
*Clank*
The Corrupted blocked the attack with its finger nails which were very long. The corrupted then slashed at him with its second hand.
Vernox jumped back to evade the attack upon seeing the hand. Vernox and the vampire corrupted vanished from their position and clashed at a random point over and over again.
The villagers looking on couldn't even see through their movement as they just saw a flash of light which was probably the sword clashing with the claws.
The power of a Corrupted on the same corresponding level of a Recesser is the same or is far greater than that of the Recesser.
Everything was so complex. Vernox couldn't even understand why someone will go through so much stress just to create such a curse.
He couldn't think about such things right now as he was engaged in battle with the vampire corrupted.
*Bang*
Vernox was punched on his stomach and was pushed backwards. The soil was dragged along with him and he stabbed his sword into the ground to stop himself.
*Pant pant...*
Vernox panted.
Drops of sweat seems to be rolling from his forehead. His skin was pale as he looked as losing soul energy rapidly.
One thing he was surprised at was the fact that he didn't feel any pain from the punch. Of course he understood why. The demons, have ranging level of resistance to pain.
The vampires have the highest resistance followed by the dragon kins and the others.
To Vernox, the punch was like a baby's palm pushing him backwards.
"Even if I don't feel pain. I can't afford to get scratched or bitten, or else that would be the end."
Vernox then stood up straight again, his eyes filled with resolve.
He charged towards the creature with a new motive. He and the creature began exchanging blows again.
No matter where the creature slashes it's hand or bares it's fangs Vernox would always counter.
His level of swordsmanship could be considered elite among the demons and even humans.
There was only one final level of swordsmanship which remained for him to learn. The Supreme swordmanship, a very hard to master technique that Vernox isn't ready for currently.
Vernox blocked the corrupted ferocious and relentless attacks while waiting for an opening so that he can launch his strongest attack on the creature.
The creature seemed to be getting frustrated as none of its attacks were landing on Vernox even though it was more superior in speed.
Of course the reason for this were the holy light runes which floated around his head like a crown.
'Gotcha!'
Vernox moved his face backwards as the creature swung it's hand horizontally and carelessly, leaving it open.
Vernox immediately moved forward with his sword in his hand. However, before his sword could even connect, the creature's second hand lunged towards his eyes like a snake.
Vernox had to jump backwards to avoid the strike, missing his chance to end the creature once and for all.
Assuming he didn't care about his eyes, he would have killed the creature but... How was he going to admire this world and it's beings with no eye, especially the women.
Vernox brows raised up in surprise as the corrupted's brows were furrowed. It finally showed emotion.
The creature lunged at Vernox while extending it's claw towards him.
Vernox have already anticipated this and bent down backwards, he twisted just below the creature that passed over him with his sword.
'Absolute slash'.
As Vernox's blade moved towards the corrupted's waist, it lit up in a golden light.
In one swift motion, the corrupted's waist was cleaved off.
The body, which was now cut in half crashed right behind Vernox, lifeless.
The runes around Vernox's head dissappeared as he fell on his knees and used the sword to hold himself and he panted tiredly.
...
"He... He really did it."
"We're saved!"
"The corrupted is dead, we'll get to live to see tomorrow."
The villagers we're overjoyed as they saw the Corrupted suddenly split in two when it went close to Vernox.
In this life, nobody wanted to die. So seeing a creature capable of wiping out their little village suddenly fall down dead all the demons were naturally happy.
The liches weren't even bothered as they are just skeleton. The Corrupteds will see no meat to devour.
All of a sudden a person in a black cloak ran pass the demons that were chatting towards the demon prince.
The demons noticed her and wondered why she didn't even protect the demon prince as she was probably his guard.
The villagers, who were too excited to notice that the demon prince's weakness after the battle suddenly kept quiet and watched the cloaked person run to him.

Vernox tried to get up. He tried so hard but his muscles twitched and twitched, sending shocked through his body.
He felt extremely weak right now and he couldn't even stand up.
All of a sudden he felt a soft and tender hand helping him to get up. Turning to his side Vernox saw Minova looking at him with worry.
Vernox only smiled as he took her hand and stood up. Minova wrapped his hand around her shoulders as she helped him up.
Vernox grabbed his sword and they began making their way back to the lich demon village slowly.

Upon entering the village, the villagers suddenly swarmed him.
"My prince are you okay?"
"Thank you so much for saving us!"
"All of you should let them pass."
Vernox couldn't even answer them right now and was taken straight to his room.
Vernox now knew one thing for sure, his journey in this world is not going to be very smooth.
