CHAPTER 17

Stefan

　　I breat

　　Kara didn't respond to my message all day. I waited anxiously and excitedly, but she ignored me. I considered the possibility that Kara hadn't seen the message, but I dismissed that option. Maybe she got scared and didn't want to reply.

　　Or didn't she reply because of Derek?

　　My mind was in turmoil. I felt weak and tired.

　　My driver picked me up at the airport and took me home. Sara didn't know I had traveled to see her. I returned as a surprise. I bought a bouquet of her favorite flowers to lighten the mood for the impending argument between us.

　　I arrived home, opened the door, and got an unpleasant surprise.

　　Sara was on the living room couch with a visitor. The man was sitting in the opposite armchair. I surprised Sara to see me and got up abruptly. The man rose calmly. My presence didn't scare or intimidate him.

　　"Sara, can you please tell me what this man is doing here?"

　　The man was named Damon. He was my enemy.
