Chapter 1The Great Collapse

The world was red. The fires raging against the heavens. The Holy Tower collapsing in the distance, taking with it the lives of thousands. Spirits rushed away from the tower in a frenzy, wishing to preserve themselves for what little time they had left.

Iris looked on in horror as the top of the tower crumbled, crushing hundreds of spirits as it fell to the ground. Iris's feet were stuck to the ground, unmoving. He couldn't move as fear struck him to his core. The anguished cries of those crushed, burned, and dying rang out into the night.

Someone toppled into Iris and knocked him out of his daze. Iris scrambled to his feet and began running out into the forest, sparing only a momentary glance back to see who had run into him. The spirit in question was Luna, the only sword emperor of the tower, or what was left of it anyways.

A giant chunk of the tower broke off and tumbled through the air towards the spot where Iris and Luna had bumped into each other. Iris' eyes went wide and he screamed at Luna. His screams joining the cacophony of screams that littered the air. Luna, limping slightly, looked up at the sky. The rock hurling through the air. Luna tore her eyes away from the large piece of the tower threatening her existence and knelt down into the grass. Sticking her sword into the dirt in front of her she looked up at Iris.

Luna smiled and her mouth moved, if ever so slightly. Iris couldn't hear what she was saying. He rushed toward Luna giving it his all. His legs pounding against the grass as he closed the distance between himself and Luna. Iris' heartbeat quickened with his steps. The giant piece of the tower crashed into the ground rolling. Luna had been crushed.

Iris was only feet away when the rock rolled onto her. He wailed letting the world know of his anguish. Iris fell to the ground weeping. His tears soaking his ashen shirt. He cried for what seemed an eternity before collecting himself. Wiping away his tears he approached the sword sticking out of the ground. It was Luna's rapier. He stood in front of it silently hoping that Luna would magically appear from around the stone. Pieces of the tower continued to rain down obliterating everything in their wake.

An immense amount of mana gathered at the center of the tower as Iris reached out for the rapier. Grabbing the rapier, Iris tore it from the earth. As he tore the sword from the ground the excessive amount of mana exploded out from the tower's center. A large blue dome of mana raced out of the tower swallowing all in its path, Iris with it.

Clutching the rapier, Iris cursed and damned his fate. His tears evaporating as the explosion swallowed him. He was thrown into darkness.

Shocked voices could be heard from the people and there was some which were also filled with scorn. Grey stood dazed amidst all the noises without any reactions. One word was constantly reverberating in his head, 'How?'. 'Why, why did this happen to me?' Grey asked himself over and over again **************** Unbeknownst to Grey, something greater lies in wait in his body.... *************** Check out the book, leave a review after reading, and also your powerstones. Hope you enjoy this, and Thanks for reading ^_^ P.S: When I started this book I had zero writing experience, so the first chapters aren't that great, although, my writing quality has improved over time. Also, English isn't my first language, so there are some instances where my choice of words are not good enough for what I'm trying to portray. A heads up, the book will be using a medieval setting. My world building is not the best, but it gets better over time, so bear with me on the early chapters! P.S: Cover art not mine I just edited it. If you're the owner and want me to take it down you can notify me. Other novel: Lunar:Secret Guardians Check it out as well! Discord Server: https://discord.gg/gs68a4ZzaN
