Chapter Thirty Four- another side of gregory

Chapter Thirty Four

After raising everyone's morale, I walked back down to the warming faces of Claire, Clara, and Rose.

What did they think of me? They must have known that I hadn't told the whole truth and twisted it slightly.

However, they said nothing and we continued to talk for a few more minutes before following Gregory outside.

The events had started and everyone was excited and bustling with energy.

"Hey, Gregory?" Clara asked while putting on a sweet smile. "I forgot my money, could you buy me some food?"

Gregory sighed, this had happened before, however, although he looked tough on the outside, he practically thought of Clara as his child and would give into anything that she, or any of us for that matter asked for.

"Argh, alright fine, the food is on me guys, however, don't go overboard." He especially aimed that at Claire, who would always think that Gregory was a loaded guy with tons of money to spend on anything she asked for.

That was true.

However, although that was the case, Gregory was a shameless hoarder. He hardly spent money, and that could be seen in his half-falling apart attire, his casual leather trousers with the occasional rip in them, along with the top which had seen many winters.

He was the definition of a middle-aged swordsman. Especially with that scruffy-looking beard of his.

"So kids, I think ill stay with you guys today, I mean I have nothing else to do, why not one of you spar against me?" Gregory said while sticking out his chest and budging his muscles.

"I'll do it later, however, I'm hungry so let's get food!" Claire said while pointing to the nicest smelling food stall.

"I'll have some chicken curry, what about you guys?" I asked.

Claire picked out the same as me, Rose picked out a chicken pizza and Clara picked out some chicken wraps with Gregory.

I guess we all got chicken.

"This is so nice! Gregory get me more!" Clara demanded more while her mouth was already stuffed.

Gregory could only sigh.

After a while, we finished our meal, however, it was getting a bit dark, but this was the time that the school bonfire would be lit and everybody would get into pairs and dance.

When we got there, I paired up with Rose, Claire and Clara paired up and Gregory paired up with one of the other teachers.

It was a fun night, I had been able to see a completely different side of Gregory, It was the side that he had never shown before, It was almost like he was enjoying hanging about with a bunch of us kids.

After a while, I got tired and told Rose that I would be back in a bit. I decided to sit down and watch the stars up on a hill.

A small bit later, Gregory popped out of nowhere and sat down next to me.

"I'm going to miss you, James. I don't know what you are going to do when you leave, however, make sure to always come back home to those girls." He said.

I guess he knew what I was going to do.

"Yeah, I will," I replied.

"Oh by the way Gregory, have you seen Claire and Clara dancing? I completely forgot that they never learned how to." I said while getting up and stretching my arms. Clearly trying to change the mood.

"Haha, the things those two girls do never ceases to amaze me, now anyways, how about we head back down, it's getting late." After he said that, I nodded and we decided to head back down to the girls before splitting up with Gregory at the main school building.

"Goodnight kid's enjoy the last few weeks of school."

"Goodnight," Rose said.

"Goodnight uncle Gregory!" Claire and Clara said together.

I simply just waved. However, I could see a little smile on Gregory's face in response to the way Claire and Clara's spoke to him. He had practically raised them since they were young, so i guess he could classify as a guardian to the two girls. So hearing that, must of made him feel extremely happy.

"Alright, let's get you girls back to your dormitory," I said before we started walking and chatting along the way.

"Today been fun, I quite enjoyed it, thank you, guys," Rose said while smiling.

"No worries, I also enjoyed it," I said in response.

"I enjoyed the food!" Claire interrupted before giggling.

"I liked spending most of today with Gregory, it's sad that he will have to stay here to teach instead of coming back with us to the family estate though..." Clara said slightly disheartened.

Yes, It was quite sad, however, it was his own choice, so we couldn't do anything about it. And he also had another four years left on his contract.

While talking, we eventually got to the girl's dorms.

"Alright ill see you guys later, enjoy your night," I said before hugging each one of the goodnight.

"Goodnight." they all said in unison before chatting and giggling to each other while walking into the dorms.

*Sigh*

It was a sure handful, however, I couldn't have asked for a better day.

"Alright it's getting dark though, so I might as well head back to my room and take a bath," I said.

"Oh yeah, I haven't been able to read for the past couple of days due to the stress of setting all the events up." I had another thing to do, however, I was really tired.

I'll fill in my journal tonight and just read it tomorrow…

While thinking to myself, I reached the main entrance of the boy's dormitories.

I said hello to the lobby worker (the person who would take the time to sit in their office in the lobby area of the dorms and would greet the students.)

"Goodnight Mr. Reshnick," I said before smiling at him.

"Oh, it's you again James. Do you know what time it is? Hurry and get to sleep, although it's near the end of the year, you still have a few weeks left until you can finally pack your bags!" Mr. Reshnick was sometimes harsh, but deep down he was a nice old man, someone to be respected.

"Alright sir, have a good night," I said before receiving a wave from the old timer.

However he was right, I still had two or so weeks left.
