The New Beginning

In an alleyway between buildings a boy could be seen sitting down lost in thought.

But to those passing by it seemed as though the boy was lamenting his situation; however, no one dared to offer a hand.

There were many such kids throughout the town after all they were located on the frontier.

The closest town to the vast wilderness that remains unexplored.

The boy walked down the streets until he arrived in front of a store looking at the window display case.

The store didn't sell food or essential items, instead it sold a small brown box.

The boy recognized it as one of the first televisions invented from his old world.

Inside the box there was a picture of a man that caused the boy's eyes to widen in surprise.

—--------------------

'I've been here for two years now and this is the first time Professor Oak is mentioned or on the television.

Though from his picture it seems as though he isn't as old as he should be at least in the games and what not.

Jin continued to watch the television as the reporter talked about Oak's life, his academic achievement and all the way up to his recent win against the elite four.

Oak's complete obliteration of the elite four cemented the Idea that Kanto was going to have their fifth champion since the League was established.

However it seemed as though Oak had withdrawn his challenge against the champion.

People questioned Oak's decision but Jin knew that Oak would choose to be a Pokémon researcher rather than a Pokémon Champion.

He even knew that now that Oak had more time as a researcher, Pokeballs would be more commonplace as Oak sought to bring humans and Pokémon together.

That's right. Pokeballs aren't used by the general public after all, most people don't even own a Pokémon after all, it is a big liability.

One Pokémon eats a lot, a Pokémon could get out of control, and if the Pokémon wasn't trained well it could cause a lot of collateral damage.

So the common household wouldn't have one after all it all costs money, and in a world where businesses aren't as developed, routes aren't secure, and there were no subsidies or funding from the league, how can one develop the economy?

Which left the rich, powerful, and those with connections able to get a Pokeballs since some major families are capable of producing them.

The technique tracing back to their ancestor from ancient times.

But with Oak finally deciding on his path it shouldn't be long before the populace have their Pokeballs though it wouldn't be the modern it could probably be more accessible than before.

After the reporter concluded his report about Oak he started to talk about how a frontier town had been completely overrun by a Pokémon Stampede.

Luckily the Rangers and League trainers were able to rescue the few remaining survivors from the stampede.

Jin watched as pictures flashed showing the destruction of what was once a vibrant town.

Seeing the walls that surrounded the town completely devastated and crumbled, Jin couldn't help but look at the ten meter wall surrounding Cape town suddenly thinking that it wasn't enough.

There wasn't anything Jin could do at the moment, he could only curse the entity that dropped him off.

Unfortunately for him the entity dropped him off as an eight year old orphan, Jin couldn't abuse his abilities as he didn't own a store.

His second ability required him to have a nearby Pokémon. His ability would easily identify the better Pokémon and how to train them but who leaves their Pokémon into a ten year old's hands?

At the moment Jin could only use his third ability now that he was ten he was allowed to leave town.

He could use his ability to find items and resources that could be sold in town.

Hopefully he would save enough money to buy a shop within Cape town so he could start his plan.

Jin sighs as he wanted the abilities he had so he wouldn't have to travel through the forest and possibly be killed by nature.

But now he is planning to explore the forest.

Jin could only pray that he wouldn't be the quickest to die after turning ten years old compared to his predecessors.

Jin continued to watch the television as they talked about the history of Kanto.

In Kanto there are major families such as the Silph family for the ancient technique in crafting Pokeballs, the Saffron family who are well known for trading even owning an entire city and many other big families.

Such is the case in the other regions all having big families that would simply care for themselves.

Eventually the first Pokémon Master appeared that defeated every champion from every region beating them into submission.

Even after they all attacked at the same time he beat them once more, and twice so they wouldn't forget.

He gathered the support of some major families and the majority of common trainers to establish the League that oversaw all the regions.

While the Champion was delegated the role to not only oversee the region but also to protect the region.

The first Pokémon master established the Gyms and the requirement to collect the eight badges for their respective region to participate in the tournament where the winner is granted the right to challenge the elite four and if they did they could challenge the champion of their region.

If a champion is able to defeat four other current champions they are granted the right to challenge the Pokémon Master.

As for how he managed to convince the families to abide by the rule of the league and the acceptance of it Jin couldn't figure it out nor did he need to.

It's been a hundred or so years since the induction of the league and there haven't been any problems.

With Oak around with Blue and Red in the future there wasn't a need to worry.

Right?
