Clearing Operation Part 8

"All stations, I just received a notification from the system. The monster that you just killed and deemed a threat is known as a Krall. They are as valuable as the Bigfoot Cherubs. I want you to exterminate every Krall that you find in that mine."

"Actual, this is Alpha 1. Orders acknowledged, eliminating every Krall that we see on this mine…"

The Kralls that were following the lead Krall stopped for a moment as they seemingly assessed the situation. A human killing their kind so easily with their weapons. It didn't feel right.

But the soldiers didn't even bother with their temporary pause as they reignited the tension by pulling the trigger, and shot them all squarely on the body.

Some of the Kralls raised their forearms to block the projectiles, but the kinetic force of a bullet was too much for their biological defenses. The bullets tore through their crude armor and flesh, sending the Kralls reeling.

"Keep firing!" Alpha 1 shouted.

The soldiers unleashed a relentless barrage of gunfire, their M4 carbines roaring in the confined space of the mine. The air was filled with the deafening sound of gunfire and the guttural roars of the Kralls.

One by one, the Kralls fell, their bodies riddled with bullets. They tried to fight back, swinging their massive weapons with desperate strength, but the soldiers' superior tactics and firepower proved too much for them.

Alpha 2 noticed a particularly large Krall trying to flank their position. "On your six, Alpha 1!" he yelled, spinning to fire at the approaching threat.

Alpha 1 turned just in time to see the Krall raising a spiked club, ready to strike. He fired a burst of rounds into the creature's chest, causing it to stumble and fall backward, its weapon clattering to the ground.

"Nice save, Alpha 2," Alpha 1 said, nodding in appreciation.

"Don't mention it," Alpha 2 replied, reloading his weapon. "We need to keep moving. There could be more of them deeper in the mine."

The team pressed on, moving through the tunnels with renewed determination to kill every monster in the mine. The fear of facing the unknown was washed away as they believed their weapons could kill everything in their path. And they were right; Kralls and kobolds were no match to the point it was the monsters that were running away from them.

"Damn…I feel bad chasing them," Alpha 1 chuckled.

"Monsters in this world don't have morality. It's just their instincts kicking in and telling them to escape for preservation. Once that feeling is over, it's just them or us. I will choose us," Alpha 3 responded grimly, eyes scanning the darkness ahead.

They continued deeper into the mine, systematically clearing out every chamber and tunnel. The mine was a labyrinth of dark passages and caverns, but the soldiers moved fearlessly.

In one particularly large cavern, they encountered a group of Kralls and kobolds huddled together, as if planning a last stand. The monsters roared in defiance as the soldiers entered, but their bravado quickly turned to desperation as the soldiers opened fire.

"Alpha 1 to Actual, we're encountering larger groups as we go deeper. They're putting up more of a fight, but nothing we can't handle," Alpha 1 reported between bursts of gunfire.

"Understood, Alpha 1. Keep pushing forward. We need that mine cleared," Vincent's voice crackled over the radio.

The soldiers pressed on, their determination unwavering. They moved through the mine like a well-oiled machine, covering each other and maintaining constant communication. The deeper they went, the stronger the smell of damp earth and the more oppressive the air became.

Eventually, they reached the deepest part of the mine, a massive cavern that seemed to stretch on forever. In the center of the cavern, a massive Krall stood, even larger than the others they had encountered. Its eyes burned with a malevolent intelligence, and it wielded a gigantic mace that looked capable of smashing through solid rock.

"Looks like we found their leader," Alpha 2 whispered.

"Geez how tall is that thing? And how did it even fit here? It's like fifteen feet tall."

"I don't know, it must have a secret passage elsewhere," Alpha 2 said.

"So should we bring out the big guns? Alpha 1 asked.

"Well I don't think the M4's are enough to take that thing down. Let's head over outside and request some arsenals from the boss…"

"Agreed…but you know, we have walked for over twenty minutes from here to the chamber. Heading back now seems risky," Alpha 1 admitted, keeping his eyes on the massive Krall in the center of the cavern.

"Then let's call for support right here," Alpha 2 suggested, pulling out his radio. "Actual, this is Alpha 2. We've encountered a massive Krall, at least fifteen feet tall. Requesting heavy ordnance support. Over."

Vincent's voice came through the radio. "Alpha 2, this is Actual. I have received your request and I will buy a rocket propelled grenade for you. How many do you think it would take to take it down."

"I'd say about five just to be safe," Alpha 2 responded.

"Copy that. Sending reinforcements with RPGs. Hold your position," Vincent replied.

The platoon leaders then waited for the soldiers outside to bring them the rocket propelled grenade and they simply watched the Krall standing there as if it had not detected their presence.

About forty minutes in, the soldiers arrived with a wooden crate containing the RPGs. Alpha 2 quickly opened the crate, distributing the RPGs among the soldiers.

"Alright, everyone, listen up. We have five RPGs. We'll take turns firing at the Krall. Aim for its chest or head, and be ready to move if it charges," Alpha 2 instructed.

The soldiers nodded, taking their positions and preparing to fire.

"On my count. Three, two, one… fire!" Alpha 2 ordered.

The first RPG whooshed through the air, hitting the Krall square in the chest. The explosion rocked the cavern, sending debris flying. The Krall roared in pain but remained standing.

"Fire!"

Another soldier fired another RPG, this one hitting the Krall in the shoulder.

"FIre!"

The third soldierfired his RPG, aiming for the Krall's leg. The explosion caused the Krall to buckle, but it still didn't fall. Its roars grew louder, echoing through the cavern as it swung its massive mace in fury.

"Fire!" Alpha 2 commanded.

The fourth RPG struck the Krall's head, the explosion sending a shockwave through the cavern. The Krall staggered, its eyes filled with rage and pain, but it remained on its feet, defying the soldiers' relentless assault.

"Last one! Make it count!" Alpha 1 urged the final soldier.

With a deep breath, the fifth soldier took aim and fired. The RPG streaked through the air, hitting the Krall squarely in the chest. The resulting explosion was immense, engulfing the Krall in a blinding flash of light and debris.

When the dust settled, the massive Krall lay motionless on the cavern floor, its body riddled with burns and shrapnel wounds.
