Ch.6: Prestage
Though YGGDRASILL is shown to be a game which allows progress only through hunting, it is just a myth.
Through my game play here I discovered that there are other ways to level up.
One can get to level 100 just by doing quests and quite fast at that too.
But most of them still go out to play the game and hunt dangerous monsters to gather precious resources and data crystals as it allows making high level equipment and even the resources needed for working of a guild and making a guild base.
If you do quests, you can quickly achieve the fastest leveling speed unmatched by hunting monsters' day and night after finding suitable hunting ground.
But… do people really want that?
To only increase one's level and reach level 100 with mediocre jobs and items?
Maybe some but not most.
True players play the game day and night, finding suitable hunting grounds to gather material and level up, make strategy to defeat hard to kill boss monsters and explore unknown spaces to find secret source of resources and mine ores.
To become a strong player with good job class and materials for making high level equipment which can't be obtained through drops and mainly to get the sense of achievement and adventure, it is the 'Right' way to play the game for every player aiming to be a ranker.
But not for Eugene.
Eugene is still 5 years ahead of the start of the game. Leaving him with enough time to try building multiple different character builds before selecting on a final one.
One can even say he is right now on a trial period, trying and exploring jobs which might suit him and his preference best.
There is still one more reason, it is to gather 'titles'.
Seeing the kind of boost they provide, even he can't stop himself from trying to acquire most even the most useless one he could.
Keeping such hope in his heart he is here again today making his way towards the central library of the Beginner city.
Though there is no concept of beginner city or other cities in YGGDRASILL, Eugene still likes to call it that. As it is his first city to start out his journey from.
Now it's been about 3 months since he reincarnated in YGGDRASILL, he has completed many quests from then but the quantity and quality both were not as explosive every day.
But there comes a time when once a month, his luck is maxed out and he gets enough quests that last him till the end of the month.
He is now at level 100 and has completed the set of Production jobs with each job class of common, high and rare job class.
He found out that he can get one title for each job class he obtains and common, high and rare class of the same class tree, once obtained can merge and becomes even stronger with individual abilities of previous titles included.
Just like his [Title: Blacksmith], [Title: Master Blacksmith] and [Title: Royal Weapon-Smith] titles combined, and he got [Title: Production type Master: Blacksmith].
…
[Title: Production type Master: Blacksmith
Requirement: First to have maxed out a common, high and rare class in the Blacksmithing field. Effect: 1. Increase the chances of making higher grade items. Effect: 2. Making items grant 500% more experience. Effect: 3. It is possible to make custom-design items to be made. Effect: 4. When equipped, all acquired blacksmith related Job titles' effects will be added though it. Effect: 5. Once a day you can create a custom item(customized abilities, skills and design)]
…
Titles like these not only have all the buffs of other Titles combined, it also allows Eugene to equip any of the Job Classes from the combined Job classes.
As for how is he is so sure?
Dude, he also completed other series of Job classes in Alchemist, Herbalist and Tailor. With each class having its own common, high and rare job classes with 15, 10 and 5 level respectively.
Though he didn't manage to cover all fields of production jobs he did manage to cover 4 of them.
Still, it was pleasant surprise of a discovery, after all he only has one title slot and can only equip one title at a time and its better if one title can grant him effect of three, isn't it?
Not to mention that the skill 'Title Hunter' provides with the ability to gain titles just by performing certain condition. Like a few days ago he acquired the title 'Foodie', which he acquired after eating 1000th type of dish since he first ate.
One might think what does such titles even provide? After all it's a logical thought that a power which came from casually eating food will be as casual as it can get.
But no! It can be useful as well depending on what benefits it provides. For example, it allows me to see weaknesses and hints to ways of defeating different monsters.
Though more inclined towards a way to hunt monsters without damaging its body parts and rating the monster as ingredients for making a meal, it is still useful for reconciliation and information gathering before start of a fight.
And many such useful abilities can be obtained from doing seemingly unimportant things. And that's what I am doing now by deciding to complete level hundred without killing any monster just by doing quests and making items.
Oh! Have I mentioned that my hidden job class, Chosen-One' is also at max level which is level 5?
For leveling it up I didn't have to get experience point nor any quests, like many rare classes have as requirement.
It just unlocked after reaching a specific point by itself. Like first at level 1 then at 25, 50, 75 and 100 respectively.
For each of these levels I got one skill each, though not on par with 'Skill: Title Hunter', each one of them is still plenty good, some even having potential to be as even better than the first.
The second skill I acquired is an auxiliary type, allowing him to be able to infinitely store as many items as he wants in his inventory. The skill name called, "Collection master". The special thing about it is that you can't ever have your items stolen or dropped even if you were to die. Though I won't ever try if it works, I value my life too much to experiment on such things.
Next is Retreat, it allows one to teleport to a random space outside when it is virtually not possible to, like when you are in a dungeon, in middle of a boss fight. And you realize that you are bird shit compared to the monsters in there. You can run away with this.
Though it will make me lose 5 levels and enter a cooldown of 6 hours, it is still better than losing your life when you don't know if it is worth it.
The skill I got at level 75 is called Network, though the description was too vague like allowing one to hack and access any type of network. I didn't fully understand what it meant. But I know that I can at least access the internet for now…
The last one is Prestage, it allows one to reach level 1 from level 100…
Weird right? I thought so too!
Why on earth do I need a skill to help me reach from level 100 to 1? I mean can't I just unequip the job classes I have and get the same result?
'Such a waste of a skill!' I thought before reading the follow ups of the skill.
[Skill: Prestage
Condition: To be level 100. Effect: 1. Reset level from 100 to 1. Start your journey from the start once again, but this time faster stronger and with greater talent. Effect: 2. The exp gained after prestage will be +10% compared to before. Effect: 3. Talent in all fields will increase by a margin. Effect: 4. Other skills from the same Job Class may get strengthened. Effect: 5. User will get a 2 times buff in experience randomly for a duration between one day to a week. Effect: 6. After doing prestage all the stats will be multiplied by 10 times, INVINCIBILITY, MAX CRITICAL CHANCE, MAX CRITICAL DAMAGE, 100 times ALL DAMAGE will be applied for 5 seconds.]
Just the double experience buff thing is enough to make this worthwhile.
Not to mention other things like the 5 seconds of invincibility and 100 times all damage.
It's just overkill…
I will make sure to abuse this power to its fullest!
I thought as I saw the latest Title I had gotten after reaching level 100.
[Title: Pacifist Paragon], cringy but it was title unlike any I ever got.
I think the conditions required for this title were really a big deal, otherwise it wouldn't have gotten any stats bonus effect.
[Title: Pacifist Paragon
Requirement: First Player to reach level 100 without killing any in game entity. Earning experience solely though quests. Effect: 1. Reduce hostility from most creatures and NPCs by 75%. Effect: 2. The chances of succeeding in any kind of bargaining, persuasion and negotiation and related skills increase by 75%. Effect: 3. For every quest completed without resorting violence +10% increase in reward and reputation gain. Effect: 4: +5 in every stat (conditions all stats are under 100)]
It is the title I got cause I reached lvl 100 without killing any monster/player/NPC, obtaining experience solely through quests.
It still feels impossible despite it happening right in front of me.
Well, who am I to judge? I welcome all the powerups I could get.
Looking at the entrance of the library I got a notification window appearing in front of me.
[Job class 'Librarian' available]
[Insufficient empty levels to assign to the job class, please unselect previous Job class to select new Job Class 'Librarian']
"Now, Let's see how special this skill is, [Prestage]" I said as a golden aura surrounded me, the power was filling me from all directions, this feeling of exhilaration and fullness.
"…I-it's like I have b-become a… God…" I said, feeling shocked.
But this feeling didn't last long, soon the feeling vanished, and one even more weakness and feeling of loss appeared.
"Hah. Hah. Hah. Is this what it feels like lose everything you have built up?" I said as I breathed hard with hands on my knees.
The feeling of falling from level 100 to 1 was really weird.
Maybe cause I am living in this game world, not as a character but as a person?
"Anyway. Its time to grind again." I said grining at the new notification in front of me.
[You have been buffed permanently, +10% experience]
[You have been buffed temporarily, 2x experience for 4 days]

A/N: Will it be alright if I make smaller chapters with 1500 to 2000 words rather than 3000 words chapters I used to make in earlier chapters? I will be able to update faster that way.
