Test of Skills

Now that all the physical capacity tests were concluded, it was time to move on to the final test, the "Test of Sword." But before proceeding, he needed to recover his stamina that had been depleted by running miles.

"Here, drink it," she said, coming over to him and handing him a plastic-like bottle.

Although not weak-willed since he had been with many women in his past life, he couldn't help but get flustered when she bent low to hand him the bottle.

'Hormones acting up, aren't they?'

Certainly, he was right. It was not that he was weak-willed towards women due to lustful desires; it was his age since he had entered the phase of puberty that caused him this feeling.

*Phaa*

He chugged down all the juices from the bottle. As the fluid hit his lips, a wave of freshness swept over him. He felt energized to do anything within just a second. Although soreness was still there, it was not as bad as before. It was bearable.

Now, he moved around his arms and stretched his legs. With that, he was up again for anything.

'What was that drink? A potion?'

It was obvious; he would get curious since he had almost no knowledge about the regular things of this world. Not like the author of the book would mention every little object in his novel.

"Now that you are up and able to move your arms, you can also move your sword. So, let's move to the last test since it's about to get dark outside," she handed him a sword.

A plain steel sword with no signs of fanciness on it, except it was slightly more flexible and thinner than all the other swords that were present in the sword rack.

She picked a wooden long sword for herself and swung it around a bit to get familiar with it. He followed her lead.

"Are you ready?" She asked, tying her hair into a bun.

"Sure am."

Although he had questions about her choice of a wooden sword against the steel sword, he kept them to himself because she was the most experienced one, not him. She knew what she was doing.

"Let me explain about this test. You will attack me with your all while I only block or dodge your attacks without using aura. You have to do something that can cause slight harm to me, like a minor cut, if you can do that, you will pass the test."

Just like before, she kept her explanation brief and simple to understand. As she said, he only had to bring her minor harm to win, but would he be able to do that against someone who was a Seven-Star Aurar?

"I will keep myself to using a wooden sword to not harm you during the test. Remember, use all of your might or else you will get hurt," she added.

Her last sentence sounded threatening to him, just as she wanted, because if he underestimated her power only because she was just dodging using a wooden sword without aura, he was bound to get hurt due to their sheer differences in physical strength.

With that little doubt he had in his mind, now had evaporated into the atmosphere like water. He was ready to give his all.

They both took their stances.

"Let's begin!"

With that command, he made his move, rushing at her with all his might like a caged beast.

*Clang*

As his sword met hers, sparks flew off in all directions.

"What's up with the rush? Don't act like a barbarian."

She flung his sword, throwing him off to the other side of the training ground.

'What is this crazy strength? She's controlling it, yet it felt like I was tossed by an elephant's tusk.'

Barely managing to land on his feet, he was bewildered by her tremendous physical strength, even when she was controlling it. If it wasn't for his sword, his ribcage would have been broken by that swing.

'I'm suddenly thankful that she's only going to dodge and block my attacks.'

Now, he was being cautious in making his next move. With only one move, his mind was put in place. He knew that rushing in with force wouldn't work.

'No matter what I think, there is no possible opening I see in her. It feels like I'm trying to split a mountain with a toothpick.'

He again moved himself, launching himself into the air and delivering multiple consecutive strikes one after another.

Nonetheless, it didn't work out; she effortlessly blocked his attacks.

'Compared to before, his skills have gotten rusty, but it's manageable. I will make him get into shape in these few months.'

She hadn't even dodged an attack, nor did she move an inch back or forth. Although how disrespectful it looked, that was the difference between skills.

He kept on continuing his barrage against her, but with each strike, only sparks sprayed from his sword, and he only got more exhausted.

'It's not going to work out like this. I was too ignorant to think that.'

He coated his body and sword with aura.

"You really had thought it was going to work out with you not using your aura up until now, didn't you?" She scoffed.

"You are right, I was so ignorant. I though t I would be able to scratch you with that. I have to go all out, after all, you were the leader of the 3rd order in the main family," he chastised himself.

It took him quite some time to realize that, as he was now covered in sweat from head to toe. Exhaustion had also caught up to him. He had drained his strength into his continuous strikes.

'Well, I definitely chose bad timing to do this...'

*Fuhuff aha*

He was panting and sucking in air from his nostrils; it would be not wrong to say he was quite tired. No matter how tired he might be it didn't matter because he had a goal in front of his eyes.
