Naya & Rie

"How did you find me, Rie?" Naya asked, looking at her friend.

The person who was in front, fluttering her wings, was none other than her good old friend Rie, and the first thing she did was to question.

"Because I can smell presence, and that's rude to say something like this to your childhood friend, you know," she said as she came closer with open arms, going in for a hug.

"Seriously? Smelling my presence, are you a stalker?" She said, pushing her aside, not looking too happy about her old friend reuniting with her.

"Putting the jokes and stuff aside, why do you look worried and bothered?" She asked, noticing the expressions on her face.

"Well... Yeah, you are right. I am pretty bothered by something," she said.

"Ohh really? Now what's bothering you, who's always been careless? Tell me, I am here to hear your troubles, so speak," she said, lending an ear to Naya.

As she was used to her friend's peculiarities, she lent her ear not out of genuine concern but in anticipation of what eccentric matter might be bothering her. She was ready for a dose of entertainment from whatever peculiar topic Naya was about to share.

"Well, my contractee, you know I recently contracted some--?" She started.

"I know, no need to tell. It's that girl called Alaya. You've been watching over her since her childhood. I don't know why you care for her so much, but continue..." She interrupted.

"Well... You know that kid has always been on the bad side of the world. Her life has been terrible from birth until she was taken in by that guy..." She talked about the past.

She wandered off into a different story instead of really answering her friend's question, going in a circle.

"Yea, I know all of that, but you haven't really answered my question. Why do you care for her so much?" She asked her friend.

"Well, the first time I saved her from the demons that killed her people, it was out of pity. But when I was about to leave, I saw how her own race treated her, calling her a demon and a hellspawn. Some of them even threw stones at her when she was still a child who knew nothing..." She said, her eyes getting wet.

She began to talk about her relationship with Alaya and why she cared for her.

"She just held her teddy and cried! What was her fault? What did she even do? She was just a little child! A child who knew nothing! Why were her own people against her when she needed them the most..." She was enraged, having anger against the humanity who harmed the most precious.

As tears fell from their eyes, rage also took over her hands. She clenched her tiny hands in anger as her body trembled in frustration.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to get emotional here right now. I hope you got your answer now. I care for her because I don't want her to get ensnared by this world's evils. I don't want her to fall into the hands of this world's malevolence and be harmed by it. I will protect her always," She said, controlling her emotions and wiping off the tears from her face.

"That's fine! That's fine! It's okay. Now, I know why you never told me this part, but that's fine. Your anger and emotions are justified when you see the evils of this world," Rie said, soothing her emotions and caressing her back. Naya then continued to tell her about the story of Alaya.

"So, yeah, that's the case. I helped her when she was in the snow forest alone. I led her to food sources and water, but I never revealed myself up till now. I really don't know why I didn't do that, though," she said, laughing and smiling.

"Well, when she reached safety, that took about 3 years, she became 12 years old. She found her way to an orphanage, then I left her and came back here for the time being, but I continued to check up on her weekly..." She continued to tell the story in detail.

Rie, who was doing nothing now but listening, smiled happily from ear to ear.

"She then got taken in by Arthur, who trained her under him and gave her a place in his family, and that's when I left her, knowing that she was going to be alright. Since I had to be available due to my position here, I couldn't afford to spend too much time in the outside world," she said, a smile appearing as she talked about the happy ending.

"I know those times when you sneaked out of your way to the human world. Those days were truly great since I always enjoyed you getting scolded by the godmother for sneaking out and being absent from your duty," Rie said, laughing and reminiscing about the past.

She cracked up when she remembered the things Naya did to be absent from her duty to visit the human world.

"Well... I swear godmother's expressions were funny and to be looked at whenever I informed her that you had sneaked out," she cracked up, and so did Naya.

They both sat together, having a great time talking about their past and laughing.

"You snitch," Naya pinched her arms really hard.

"Ouch, what the heck, stop! it hurts!" She said, playfully slapping her hands away.

"Stop whining, that's the reason why I left that post. It was frustrating to be called in for a mission and work at any time. I couldn't give time to those I cared about," She said, as her mood got soured by thinking about her frustrating job.

"Well, it sure is tough being a general and an elder at the same time," Rie said, relating to her friend's emotions.

"Yea, you are right, it really is. That's why I left it all to be free," She said, breathing a fresh of freedom.
