Reincarnated as an Extra

In life, countless things might happen to someone at some point in their lives. Some people may call it fate, destiny, opportunity, or a turning point but for me, it wasn’t one of those. Fate? Nah, everything about my life was already trash to begin so to hell with fate right? Destiny? Who’s name was that? If destiny was real then how come nothing changed? Opportunity? What the hell was that? If there was an opportunity presented in front of me then I’ve grabbed it a long time ago. Turning point? To hell with turning points, everything about me had always been in twists and turns like I’m always riding a roller coaster of life. So, what’s the point of these things for me?

Chapter 2

One day, I received an anonymous mail giving me the opportunity to serialize my work and of course, I grabbed it instantly. After I gave my consent and some contract amendments, I happily went back home.

On my way back, I was still on cloud nine since it felt surreal. I just couldn't believe it since all my life I thought I was unlucky but now that unluckiness seemed to wear off its effects.

"Wow, I could not believe it. My long-awaited dream and stagnant life had finally gotten some oil to make the cogs move. Even though it's still early and I'm just at the starting point, I know that after this only good thing will happen… huh?"

But life's always a bitch that will bite you back once you tasted something sweet.

'Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, peeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!'

'Bang! Bang…'

'Crash…'

"Oh my god, call an ambulance! Call the ambulance immediately, there's an accident!!", a resident called out to the people who gathered around the site.

Hmm… why am I lying down the road? What is this hot liquid dripping out from my head? Why are the people looking at me with worry? Ahhh… that's right. I got hit by that speeding truck.

Sigh! Am I gonna die? Even until the end, my life was full of shit. How cruel, just how cruel can this world be?

It even let me have a taste of that sweet feeling of success and build my hopes up but reality eventually shattered it in an instant just like waking up from a dream. Maybe… just maybe it's about time for me to end living this unlucky life of mine.

'Tired… so tired.'

'Huff… huff… huff…'

Why did it feel like he was walking for an eternity? His legs wanted to give up, but for some reason, he kept on walking towards that small ball of light at a far away distance.

He was chasing it because he had an inkling feeling that if he wouldn't do it, he might lose his way eternally. It's as if telling him to come and reached it.

'Ugh… huff… water… wa…ter…'

His throat which felt dry and rough was now burning with an extreme thirst that he had never felt before and this burning sensation made him feel parched even more.

'Water… huff… ugh…'

He really needed water. Then a sudden thought came up to his mind that maybe he could find and finally taste the sweet feeling of wetting his throat if he somehow managed to reach the ball of light. And so, he kept on walking and struggling until he reaches the safe haven he thought.

'Tired… huff… huff… just… o…ne mo…re'

The thought of having water kept him moving forward. He didn't know how long he walked.

Days… weeks… months… years… maybe… perhaps, it could be… decades. He just did not know. And finally, after his long struggle, the small ball of light that he once saw became larger and brighter.

'Al…most th…e…re'

'Final…ly'

After his final struggle, his eyes that seemed to have lost their luster became bright and alive again, and just right after reaching the place, he lost consciousness.
