Its was been a few hours since I had made a break for it and gone into the forest. It was almost midnight and the fog was so dense that I could hardly make out where I was going. The chances of anyone finding me at this point were slim to none. I had no idea if they were still in pursuit or not.
I perched myself underneath an oak tree, utilizing the fallen leaves to shield me from the chilly air. The physical toll on my young body was immense, and I was unable to cope with the strain of the difficult situation I was in. Despite my efforts to remain composed, my heart raced in fear.
Why did my mother have to die in such a cruel way? Why had the Velk already arrived? Was it a plan of vengeance by the man because my mother refused him? All of these inquiries remain without a response.
My thoughts started to wander, and I sank further and further into sadness. I looked up to the sky, not knowing what I could do next. This was an unfamiliar sensation for me, considering I had been reborn only recently; I had never felt so helpless before.
I felt the moisture of the atmosphere caress my skin. I pondered to myself if the weather was about to change. Moments later, the scattered droplets increased in intensity, leading to a full-fledged downpour. I was beneath a tree, providing me with enough shelter to keep from getting soaked.
My eyelids started to feel heavy. The tension and environment had made my delicate body to feel exhausted and ready for sleep. I tried my best to stay conscious as I resisted my eyes from shutting. I didn't feel secure in this forested area..
I had wanted to stay up all night, yet my body had other ideas and I couldn't resist the strong need to sleep, and soon I was soundly asleep.
(Fun Fact! Tomo's mother restricted him from exploring the village and almost never went anywhere but his home and the forest and had only wandered into the village a total of three times. The third time is when he met the Village Chief.)
(Another Fun Fact! Rebecca, having low funds to barely afford ends meet, did not have enough money to send Tomo to school. He found it intriguing to read books in his mother's closet about this world's magic and law and he is extremely intelligent in terms of education wise.)
