I was clearly frustrated and my expression showed it as I ran my fingers through my hair. "What does befriending a Mythical Beast have to do with this?" I said to myself in a quiet voice.
Elyena noticed me talking to myself and asked, "What was that?" I was a little startled and answered quickly, "Nothing!"
She just looked at me with a blank expression before saying, "I was wondering, what is your age?"
I looked at her and joked, "What, do I look like I'm old?" I smiled. "But really, I'm only nine years old." Her eyes widened in surprise as she shouted, "NINE YEARS OLD?!? That means we're the same age!"
I gave a slight nod in response to her, and she gave me an odd expression, as if she couldn't believe me. "What's the reason for your height then?" She inquired. "I'm not sure," I replied.
I was aware; however, if I had shared that information with her, I would have had to provide a detailed description of my reincarnation, which would have been too much trouble. In addition, I don't think she would have believed it.
Elyena realized I was not telling the truth, but she just stayed away from the discussion since it seemed I did not want to discuss it.
I rose from the fire and brushed myself off before turning to Elyena. In a calm voice, I said, "Alright, it's probably time to get you home. You've had enough tragedys for one day."
(Fun Fact: Elyena, who is nine years old and stands 4'9 tall, found it hard to accept Tomo's assertion that he was nine when his body was developed and he was 5'5.)
