Need for Accelerating

Aisam awoke the next morning to darkness, having passed out after unknowingly using a stat scroll. Unaware that the scroll was meant for use when his constitution was higher than 5, it granted him 6 stats, which took a toll on his body.

"Hahhh!", Aisam woke up to complete darkness as his headache was still not gone, holding his head, he tried to stand up and lay on his bed.

"*huff *huff *huff, what the heck happened?" Aisam said to himself as he laid down on his bed feeling exhausted even more than he was doing the daily quests at the beginning.

"... I remember now, I did something I shouldn't have after getting a bit complacent that things were going a bit well," Aisam said feeling frustrated that Rayna didn't give him any instruction while also blaming himself for being complacent and not asking her although he knows nothing about this world.

"*sigh... playing blaming game solves nothing," Aisam thought as he got an idea that could probably resolve many of his confusions and prevent future mishaps,

"Can't I go to the Academy sooner?... I don't know what exactly they teach there, but if I can go there sooner than next year, I'll inevitably be able to learn new things rather than being stuck in this house and almost dying every time I make a mistake due to being unknowledgeable about this world..."

"I will ask Rayna in the morning, and if she says 'No', I will have to try even more and convince her to make it possible somehow. After all, I don't think she's just a normal magician or whatever, 'cause if she was she wouldn't be able to provide me with such probably valuable stuff in such a short time," Aisam thought as he felt his pain all over his body diminishing slowly but surely.

"Alright, I've made up my mind! Rayna said I need to show exceptional talent or performance to get accepted, so that's exactly what I'll aim for. My first step will be to boost my stats as much as possible, allowing me to explore outside the house on my own and learn as much as I can." Aisam thought resolutely and suddenly felt his eyes getting heavy as he felt the need for a night of sleep.

"*Yawn... I guess it's time to sleep," Aisam said as he stopped thinking about everything and let the sleep take over.

...

Aisam woke up in the morning after 4 hours of sleep as he had also slept while he had passed out.

He wanted to ask the question he had in mind from Rayna when they were eating breakfast but after arriving downstairs, he noticed Rayna was nowhere to be seen, and only the twins were sitting on the dining table with the breakfast all ready.

"Good morning, Erebus! How are you feeling? What are you looking around for first thing in the morning? " Riona asked enthusiastically as she stood up from her seat, and came in front of him looking straight into Erebus's eyes.

"G-good morning... I-I wanted to apologize for our argument the other day and for being upset with you later. P-please, forgive me!" Machaira stammered, rising from her seat after Riona.

She approached Erebus slowly, her nervousness evident in her hesitant steps and sporadic eye contact, which she avoided whenever their gazes met.

"... How caring of them, Erebus has to respond kindly to these girls, especially to that girl who isn't as bratty as I thought her to be," Aisam thought as he prepared to put on an act with a gentle smile.

"Thank you a lot you two! I am completely fine thanks to you all looking out for me. I was just looking around to see where was Rayna because I wanted to ask a question from her. Also, Machaira, you don't have to beat yourself up for that, I have already forgiven you!" Erebus said softly to the twins which brought a broad smile to their faces as if nothing had happened.

"YAYYY! EREBUS IS ALL. RIGHTY!" Riona said happily jumping on the spot.

"You really meant that, Right? I'm glad!" Machaira said while only smiling and being still on the spot.

"Ok, ok, you two! we've got the whole day, let's eat breakfast then you can jump around as much as you want." Erebus said calmly as they all sat down and ate breakfast cheerily.

During breakfast, Aisam learned from the twins that Rayna had embarked on an early morning emergency mission. The twins had prepared the meal themselves, consisting of simple fare—just some bread, tea, and dairy products that Rayna had taught them to make long ago.

However, it wasn't as delectable as when Rayna prepared it, and she was also cooking some things alongside them.

After eating breakfast, because of the twins' insistence and being a nice boy Erebus is to them, he had to play with them for 3 hours.

...

"*sigh... now that's done, Time for daily quests," Aisam said to himself after he finished playing with them.

"Phew, thanks luck for not screwing me up today," Aisam said lying down on his bed after an extremely tiring exercise although better than before for 5 hours.

"...I think I'm forgetting something... ❗ I haven't checked all the items Rayna gifted me!" Aisam said as he sat on his bed and picked up the box from the side of his bed.

Upon inspecting the box, he found a scroll and a book. Despite lingering suspicion from the previous day's incident, he cautiously reached for the scroll, hoping the system would provide information about its contents.

However, as he picked it up, no message appeared from the system, leaving him uncertain about its nature.

"Hmm... Do I have to actually read it?!" Aisam thought and after a few seconds of hesitation, he opened it.

"I never thought about it but how can I read this world's language without any problem? I'm completely sure it's not English from the way it looks... Well, I suppose Erebus has learned it from Rayna at home," Aisam contemplated as he noticed the scroll could still be opened more.

"What the hell!" Aisam said as he saw the scroll was so lengthy that it reached the door of his room and still could be opened more, "If this is another type of scroll that you have to read it yourself and train with it... I'm not reading all that!"

Although he said that, he tried to read it a bit. The title said 'Mana advancement from stage 0 to 3' which didn't exactly make sense for him, and after only reading two paragraphs of the scroll which had minimum drawings and illustrations, he gave up on it.

Aisam then put the scroll back in the box and picked up the book which said 'Secret Arts of Whispering Blade: Dagger Form' on it.

"The name implies it may be useful. But, if it's also like that scroll, I don't know what to do with it," Aisam said, then opened the book.

Despite the book containing a substantial amount of text, he found it fortunate that it was filled with numerous drawings, patterns, and illustrations.

This visual aid made the content more accessible and understandable to him, especially considering his combat experience which he had achieved by practicing self-defense techniques through online courses by himself, participating in underground fight tournaments, and living in prison for 5 years because of false charges against him.

"This one is much doable, and I guess magic is just not my cup of tea," Aisam said to himself, then he put the book under his dagger in the drawer.

"I will practice with it gradually... I've changed my mind about asking Rayna that question, I will ask her when I have something to show and impress her," Aisam said as he sat on his bed wondering what to do now that he had more time because he could finish his daily quests faster.

"I can't go outside obviously for now, so if there's nothing else to do... I guess I will study and practice the dagger with that book," Aisam said, then took out his dagger and the book from the drawer to start practicing before bedtime.
