Chapter 90

The undead king staggered slightly as his body felt heavy. He could not die but he could still feel weakened when his body took enough damage. Blood tickled down from his wounds and his aura send shivers down the spines of all around.

Waves of pure force from Vorbuk's mana directed at the undead king impacted against him. It was black and swept past everyone else with ease. With careful concentration the only one who could feel the impact of the brute force behind the wolf's attack was the undead king himself. Anyone else who came into contact with the black mist felt only a damp coldness. It almost seemed gentle like mist on a rainy day.

He could feel his mana draining the more he used the shadows to directly attack.

Isis was already staggering back to her feet while holding onto her arms. It was clear to him that she was feeling the impact of the attack she had just endured. She stumbled over to his location and stood on the ground below the carriage. Her gaze swept up in his direction with a faint nod to him. Something told her that he wanted to ask if she was alright so she wanted to put him at ease. Even if her body ached she did not want to admit to it and cause him to worry.

"Vorbuk! Daryl!" Leo shouted for their attention.

The prince repeatedly struck at the undead king. At the request from the prince for aid Daryl as well moved in to strike from a different angle.

Sweat dripped from Vorbuk's body as he shivered from exhaustion. Mana pulsed throughout his body and he began to feel very cold. It felt to him as if his body was freezing from the inside out but it was simply due to his mana being pushed further then he had done before.

As the three of them repeatedly attacked the undead king princess Isis stuck up on the enemy from behind. Her hands grasping at the sword she had lost before and pulling it out clean. Seeing her actions the prince did not want to give time for the enemy to turn around and attack her again. Moving more quickly with his strikes he fought to keep the undead kings attention on him. Giving her enough time to shift her position in time before his strike in her direction.

Blocking his mana attack with her sword she was able to remain standing. Heavy weight seemed to fill her legs as she felt nervous. She was exhausted both mentally and physically.

Just a bit more! Zoe thought to herself on the roof of the building as she continued to channel the ancient light magic she had studied in the past from books. Light mages were rarities in the world. Not many understood why but many believed it was due to their abilities relating too closely to life. To give life to one who was already dead was considered a taboo that even the gods did not easily cross. If a life was lost, it was considered as that person's fate. For someone who could heal to the extent of pulling a soul back from the void of death it was considered a taboo.

There were two different kinds of raising the dead. The undead king merely brought the motion back to the corpses of those who had become deceased. Though, a light user when strong enough, could completely bring the soul back. Completely escaping death's embrace all together.

A perfect light wielder was believed in ancient legends to be able to heal even the most extreme of wounds, defying the scale of life and death. Due to that those who worshiped the gods considered light wielders to be rarities that were only born when gifted the ability of light mana from the gods. Zoe who was a light mage could not heal others. Her abilities were self taught from years of labor in studying her own capabilities with books.

That was why Zoe hid her magic ability. The only fate for one with light magic was fear or awe from the people who knew. It also risked her being coveted by those who wished to use her light mana. Power did not come without those who covet to use it. Whether that purpose was good or bad depended entirely on the person who desired it.

"Now!" Zoe shouted as her channeling ended.

A bright light burst forth from the rooftop blinding everyone for miles momentarily.

Rays of light swept far and wide until nobody was able to keep their eyes open but her. Grunting sounds could be heard from the undead king as she threw the stone she had been channeling her magic onto straight down towards Vorbuk.

"Seal!" She shouted as loud as she could in hope that it would really work like she'd read about in the books when younger. It was her first time doing something to such extent.

The darkness from all around could be seen fading away. It was being eaten by the light of her own mana. Pulsing sensations could be felt from the stone that was in her hands as the darkness was being force ably pulled into it.

Filthy.. The aura the stone is giving off.. feels.. so gross.. it hurts.. Zoe thought to herself as the mana from the undead king tried to refuse being warped into the stone.

Struggling to fight back against the rejections of the undead king she could feel her consciousness fading. Dizzy from the fight his mana was putting up she continued to force her own mana to rope him in. The lights were beginning to dim along with the darkness as his body began to fade. It was working! Feeling excited for a split second she almost forgot herself and staggered.

Once the figure of the undead king was gone the streets became silent. All the mana that had been released during the battle had vanished completely. The undead king was alive, but he was sealed away in the stone. He would no longer be able to hurt another soul was long as nobody set him free. She would need to protect the stone from now on.. but as long as she had it he would never be able to escape his imprisonment.

"So.. Tired.." She mumbled under her breath as her eyes began to close. Her body collapsing from the fatigue on the roof top.

"ZOE!" Daryl called out to her from where they stood as he took off running in her direction at the sight of Zoe collapsing. It felt as if his heart was about to stop beating the second he saw her go down. The only reason she was a member of their group was because he had brought her in himself. If something happened her it was uncertain to himself how he would react.

"D..aryl.." She could hear his panicked voice in the distance below. They would find her soon. It was obvious they knew where she was.

It should.. be alright to sleep now.. He'll come.. She thought to herself as her eyes closed shut. With her mana drained it was impossible for her to remain awake any longer.
