Chapter 339

Vorbuk felt no sense of time passing as the Siren's song lured him along. He was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. The further he ran the slower he started to move until he came to a halt in his steps. In front of him stood a woman with beautiful features. Everything about her seemed similar to Princess Isis and yet she was very different.

Something about the aura she gave off was much darker but gave little hostility towards him. She stared at the wolf beast without moving an inch from where she stood. Unsure of what she wanted, Vorbuk could only stand there in hesitation. It was difficult to consider how he should react to the woman. Confused on why she looked so similar to the princess.

In a thick black fog the wolf morphed into his human form. Carefully calling out to her while remaining cautious of her movements, "Who are you?"

The girl did not speak a word and only observed him quietly.

"You're a siren?" Vorbuk asked her bluntly as he started to understand why she probably resembled the princess. The siren was making him see her as the princess. Though it was not really her at all because the princess was back at the Theapan Palace.

The siren replied to him casually, slowly taking steps towards the wolf beast, her words like whispers to his ear as her body leaned in close to his, "Does that frighten you?"

"... No." Vorbuk replied while his body was frozen in place. He could not move his body away from the siren as she spoke to him. It felt like his entire body had frozen in place.

The siren admired his lack of fear towards her kind, "How admirable of you."

"Do not use her face as you like. You know nothing of her." Vorbuk felt uncomfortable seeing the siren using the princess's image in front of him. He knew the siren was only feeding off of his own memories and emotions to use her image.

A light flickered in the siren's eyes. Her body slowly shifting into a different appearance that Vorbuk presumed to be her true form. The siren had long light pink colored hair and a beautiful pair of pink eyes that almost seemed jeweled. Those eyes reminded him of the vampire back home at the palace, Aoki. They were not eyes that just anyone had.

"Does this form make you more comfortable?" The siren asked with a frighteningly beautiful smile. The dress she wore exposed much of her delicate features.

Vorbuk took his hand and covered his mouth to clear his throat, looking away from her as he tried to cleanse his own thoughts, "Thank you."

She could tell he was being agitated by her appearance and slowly slid her hand up against his chest while leaning in to speak further, her voice was like a gentle melody in his ears that gave his body shivers, a flicker of light in her eyes as she gazed into his, "You look rather tasty."

A deep growl escaped his throat, feeling intoxicated from the melody in her voice, his face flushed slightly at his words as he replied, "What did you bring me here for?"

"I would like to eat you." She spoke bluntly, her harsh words sounding exotic as her fingertips slid up his neck o grasp him by the chin. "However he would not like that."

Vorbuk wanted to move but his body was not responding to his own thoughts. He could not even begin to keep his own mind on track. A heat was coursing through his body as he felt how close the siren was to him.

"Who are you talking about?" Vorbuk asked while trying to keep his mind straight. His breathing was becoming heavier. Almost panting as he breathed.

The siren giggled as she leaned her head against him and spoke up innocently, "The headless horseman."

"... You know him?" Vorbuk asked curiously.

The girl puffed her cheeks as if jealous and said, "You can call me Raene"

"R-Raene," Vorbuk tried to ask her again, "You know the headless horseman?"

"Of course." She spoke like it was something obvious, "I work for him. He wanted me to bring you to him."

"What does he want with me?" Vorbuk asked her.

"I do not know." She replied before standing up on her toes to kiss him and add, "But maybe when he is done with you I could eat you."

Sirens fed on the life force of other living things. The one that Vorbuk gave off was strong. It was something very tempting for someone like her kind. She wanted to consume him. Though she was also drawn to him as much as she wanted to devour him. Something about Vorbuk felt like his soul did not belong to her world.

"Do you think I would allow that?" Vorbuk growled as his body shivered. He tried to resist the temptation of the siren.

Raene smiled and said in a whisper to his ear, "Do you think you could stop me from getting what I want?"

He struggled against the melody that held his body hostage. Inch by inch he forced himself to take a step towards the siren. His arm reaching up to grasp her by the shoulder. Losing his footing the two of them stumbled to the ground.

Landing with a thud, the siren was pinned under Vorbuk. A deep growl echoing from his throat at her. He felt embarrassed by their position but he could tell the siren was unfazed entirely. Those pink eyes stared up at him as if she was anticipating something from him.

"Why are you so hesitant to admit that you enjoy this?" Raene whispered sweetly to him, finding his embarrassment towards her humorous, her hands slowly sliding up under his clothes, "Even kings are allowed concubines of numerous count."

"At least I do not need to intoxicate someone for attention." Vorbuk could not help but remark rudely towards her. The methods she used towards him with her abilities felt dirty. He considered grabbing her by the throat and strangling her beneath him.

Raene's face darkened as she heard those words. Slamming her fists against his chest, Vorbuk was tossed aside. She stood up and flared as she shouted at him, "We should move now!"

"Are you trying to kill me?" Vorbuk coughed from the sudden hit he took from her.

"Get up." Raene stepped over to where Vorbuk knelt while coughing and said to him, "Do you really think I have an interest in killing you? I could have done that long ago."

"That hit felt pretty real to me." Vorbuk slowly got to his feet.

She scoffed and said, "Talk like that to me again and I will show you what a real hit from me is like."

"Did you think I was going to desire you because you were a siren?" Vorbuk asked her bluntly.

Raene's face flushed deep red as she flared up at him again, "SHUT UP!"

She really thought I would fall for her because she was a siren? Vorbuk suddenly realized that Raene's pride must have felt shattered. It was rare for someone to be able to refuse the approach of a siren. The siren did not know how to react when seeing someone fail to be seduced by her melody entirely. She could draw Vorbuk in but he could not be entirely seduced under her control.
