Reigning over the Heavens

Joren's childhood was a cruel landscape, shaped by pain, suffering, and humiliation at every turn. Bullied relentlessly at school, he became an outcast, the target of both physical and emotional torment. At home, he was invisible, unloved, and neglected by a family that seemed to see him as nothing more than a burden. His parents, wrapped in their own indifference, ignored his cries for help, leaving him to fend for himself in a world that seemed determined to crush him. Every day, Joren endured a life that felt like an endless nightmare—a nightmare that was only made worse by the fleeting moments of hope he’d occasionally catch, only for them to be dashed by fate’s cruel hand. Just when Joren thought he might find a way out, a glimmer of salvation appeared—a chance to escape, a way to break free from the pain. But fate, ever indifferent, saw fit to deal him a final, devastating blow. He died—his life snuffed out before he could escape the nightmare. Or so he thought. Reincarnated in a new world, Joren’s torment did not end with his death. In an unimaginable twist, the Gods made a grave mistake: they allowed his memories to remain intact. All the suffering, all the heartache, and all the pain of his former life flooded back with him into this new existence. It was a gift and a curse—one that would shape the man he would become. But instead of crumbling beneath the weight of his past, Joren chose to rise. No longer would he be a victim. No longer would he cower in the shadows of those who sought to break him. The world that had once been his enemy would now feel the force of his wrath. With a heart hardened by years of torment, Joren set out to rewrite his story. The shame and helplessness of his previous life fueled his every step as he sought to amass fame, wealth, and power. Yet, his quest for power was not simply about inflicting pain on those who wronged him—it was a drive to prove to himself that he was no longer that broken child, that he could become something greater. But the world he found himself in was far from simple. It was a land filled with its own dangers, politics, and power struggles, and Joren quickly realized that the pursuit of power was more complicated than he ever imagined. As he begins to rise through the ranks of this new world, Joren must face not only the demons of his past but the temptations of his newfound abilities. Will he be consumed by his thirst for revenge and the allure of power, or will he find redemption and forge a new path for himself? Each step he takes forces him to confront not just his enemies, but the question of who he truly wants to become. In the end, will he be a ruler, a tyrant, or something entirely different? Joren’s journey is one of self-discovery, as he battles the forces of both his past and his present in his quest for dominance—and ultimately, to shape the world in his own image. Chapter 82 - Trey's torture

The layout of the hidden room looked the exact same as the dungeon. The only difference between the two was how clean it was. While the dungeon was filthy, blood was everywhere with other bodily fluids accompanying it, the hidden room was sparkling clean.

"Now, where should we begin? Start off with the hot iron, or maybe smash a hammer against your face? No no, how about cutting many slits on your body and start pouring acid onto them like you did to me that one time. Or maybe start with something simple, like this." He punched Trey in the face, watching as his neck bobbed back and forth.

Trey was strapped to a chair that had the same properties as the one in the dungeon so he couldn't use his mana. He had to sit there and take the beating that was being dished out to him.

Left hook, right hook, uppercut, palm strike to the nose. Joren did it all. He beat Trey's face until it was black and blue, not stopping until he felt good.

"Woah, woah, I can't have you die on me, you need to watch as I fuck your 'perfect' life over."

"Ptew" Trey spit blood at Joren's face but it sizzled when it came in contact with his Aura.

"Yes, that's the spirit, let's kick it up a notch." He grabbed a hot iron rod and heated it with his hands. "Pay close attention." He clobbered it across Trey's face leaving a nasty gash on his cheek.

"Arghhhh!!! Fuckkkk!!!"

"Yeah, I know, it hurts. Here, see if this hurts as well, and let's compare notes." He stabbed the hot iron into his leg, twisting it around to get deep into his flesh and muscles.

"AGHHHHHHHH!!!!! FSHEWWWW FSHEWWW!!"

"Hang on, I'm not done yet." He set the rod ablaze and watched as the iron for brighter as the metal was being heated. He watched as Trey's skin burned from the heat, his muscles tore and his blood started boiling.

"Arghhhh! Please!! ARGHHHHHH!!! PLEASE!!!!" He begged

"That's it? Are you tapping out already? The torturer can't take torture? That's surprising. Alright, I'll stop." He removed the hot iron, taking a piece of Trey's thigh muscle with it.

"Tell you what, I'm gonna take this knife and cut your chest with it. Then, I'll send a small bolt of lightning into your body and if you don't scream in pain, I'll let you go, but if you do, I'll cut off your finger with a butter knife, okay? You have ten tries so make it count."

Joren grabbed a knife from the counter and heated it up with his flames. "Oh, and if you lose all ten fingers, I'll attach them back and we'll start over again. Make sure to give it your all!"

"Son of a bit-" Joren punched Trey in the face.

"And no back-talking." He cut through the soft skin breaking it and entering the layer of flesh then muscle.

"MHMNNNNN!" Trey kept his mouth shut, groaning through his sealed lips. His legs and arms twitched with pain as his neck jolted back.

"Good, now on to the next part." He shoved the knife deep into Trey's chest and sent a lightning current through the metal blade, electrocuting his entire body.

Spazzing and convulsing in pain as the lightning coursed through his body, Trey tried his hardest to keep his voice under wraps but the pain was too unbearable. "ARGHHHHHGHHAHHGHGAHHGAHHGH!!!!!!" He screamed as the lightning made his voice skip.

"And that's strike one." He pulled a butter knife from his storage ring. "Now, time for your punishment ."

"Please, PLEASE! One more chance, just give me one more chance!" Tears and snot ran down Trey's face. Looking at him in such a state made Joren feel great, but also watching as he begged pissed him off to the core. How many times had he bagged? Now that he's in this position he wants mercy? Hell no!

"You're funny, you know that?. Having the audacity to beg for mercy after what you did to me! I'm being merciful enough by not killing your family at this very moment. Now shut the fuck up, I have to focus on cutting off your finger."

Twirling the knife in his hands for a bit, Joren grabbed Trey's index finger and lined it up with the knife. "Let's begin." Skin moved left and right as Joren started sawing through Trey's finger.

"Hmm, this is harder than I thought, let me add more pressure." Putting more pressure on his hand, Joren tore through the skin.

"Arghhh!! Fuck!"

"There we go!" Applying more force, Joren kept sawing until the flesh started to give way."

"GRHHHHHHH!!!"

"Hang in there, almost at the bone." He tore through the flesh and blood squirted everywhere. When he reached the bone, that's when Trey's screams sounded like a person in a horror movie.

"Will you shut up! It's not even that painful. Hmm? Oh hold up, the bone is tough, gonna need to put my back into this." He moved his hand at a fast pace, but only akin to a normal person. Joren didn't use mana at all when he decided to cut Trey's fingers since it would be a clean cut and he wanted him to experience agony.

Joren continued to cut through the bone, cracks forming around the cutting point until finally, he chopped the finger off.

"Phew, 'bout time. Sorry, I took so long, still getting used to all this. Don't worry though, next time will be more painful. So, shall we start again?" Trey didn't see Joren anymore, all he saw was a demon in front of him, one that he created.

After about two hours, the floor was covered in blood. On the table were 10 fingers, all belonging to Trey. Joren had to start over ten times and each time he did, he made the process more painful.

"Get up!" Obeying his command, Trey, who was unfashioned from the chair, stood up, his eyes devoid of emotion as he held his hands that had no fingers out.

Using his mana force, Joren grabbed all 10 fingers and reattached them to Trey's hand. He then used healing magic to barely heal them together.

"There, good as new. Oh, and before you go, there's something I want you to have." Grabbing the hammer on the table, Joren clobbered Trey across the face, shattering some of his teeth and cracking his skull, knocking him out cold.

Spitting on Trey, Joren cleaned himself up and headed upstairs.

"Hello, Freida."

"Joren, your back! How was your treatment?" She was sitting on a couch in the living room reading a book across the fireplace.

"It was a tedious process. I'll have to get more checkups periodically. Trey is down there trying to put together the best concoctions to aid in my recovery." Lying through his teeth was now becoming a normal thing for him.

"He's always working hard. Well, I hope you have a smooth recovery."

"Thank you." He bowed slightly. "I'm sorry but it's getting late and I need to leave now. I still need to find an inn to stay at."

"You don't have a place to stay?" Freida asked concerned

"Haha, no I don't. I came here in a rush so I forgot to find a place to rest."

"Why don't you stay here for the time being? We have a guest room."

"N-No, I wouldn't bother you to do that, I don't want to intrude." He scratched his neck nervously

"Nonsense, you'll be my son-in-law soon so get comfortable staying in our home."

"I-If you insist then I'll have to accept your offer. Thank you."

"It's no problem. Now, go and talk to Helen, she's been waiting for you."

"I'll do just that." He walked upstairs to Helen's room and talked with her for the next few hours before it was time to go to sleep.

"I have the time so why not just get the rest of the basic elements now." So for the next few hours, Joren cultivated the Water, Earth, and Wood elements. When he opened his eyes, it was still dark but he knew the sun would rise in a few hours.

"I'll worry about increasing my circle after I leave this place and make my way to the academy. For now, I'll have some fun."
