Chapter 1: Regnum Donum Habitum

Yep, I'm definitely lost.

Ugh, are u serious right now!? First day of school and I'm lost, wow how great.

Damn it, the letter said that I need to be there by 1:00 PM or I won't be accepted in the school, who even built this place? Why the hell is there a maze right after you enter the gate!?

Sigh, it's 12:30 already. I only have 30 minutes left, I have to get out of this maze fast, but is there even an exit? I've been going in circles the whole time I was here...Come on Surryl, think! Use your brain, hmm...Wait a minute, the letter!

The way the letter was written was really weird, I thought it was just some typos, but it might actually be a clue to this maze, let me check it for a moment.

"Dear Gift Holder Surryl,

We are happy to tell yo1U that you have been chosen as a student in our school, 2Regnum Donum Habitum. A driver wi3Ll pick you up from your house at exactly 12:00 PM, we hope that you will be able to arrive in time, as we only accept admissions until 1:00 PM. We wish you a safe 4Drive, goodluck!"

I see, it's the numbers and capitalized letters from the weird words, 1st Up which probably means to just go straight first, 2 Right which means I need to make 2 right turns, it's the same with 3 Left, 3 left turns, and finally, 4 Down... That's the only one that I don't know the meaning of, but for now let's just follow the first three clues.

10 minutes later

"Ha, Huff..." Phew, damn I'm tired from running all the way, but...huff... I can't waste any time, it's already...12:43.

I only have a few minutes left, but I'm finally on the last part.

Let's see, there are four holes here, I probably need to enter the 4th hole based on the letter.

Although I don't know where this hole leads to, I don't have much time to think about it now, I'm running out of time.

Oh well, here goes nothing.

*Jumps in the hole*

*Pops out in the sky*

"Huh?"

"...aaaaaaAaaaAAAhhhHHHHHHHHHH"

WHAT THE HELL, WHY AM I FALLING FROM THE SKYY AHHHHHH

*Falls on top of a big and round cushion*

"Oof!"

Ugh...what a wonderful welcome, very satisfying, 10/10 definitely not doing that again. Hm, looks around, there's no one here...?

"Where..."

"Welcome student, I have been waiting for you."

Holy- Oh it's the driver that picked me up from my house earlier.

"Why did you suddenly disappear? Were you just waiting for me here the entire time?"

"Yes, it is my duty to escort you to the Gate of Babylon. However, I can only escort you to the gate, escaping the maze will be completely up to your capabilities, if you had failed to escape it, then you are not worthy of attending this school. But now that you're here, it seems that you are worthy of our invitation, well then without further ado, welcome to our school!"

Gate of Babylon, so that was the name of that place. If I remember correctly, Babylon is one of the oldest cities known in the history of mankind, but legends say that it was completely destroyed already. Does that mean Regnum Donum Habitum is built from the remains of Babylon? The person who founded this school must either be really old or powerful then.

"I suggest you make haste student, as you're actually one of the later students that arrived. The majority of the invited students of this year have already arrived in their respective classes.

Oh, you and that student over there should go together or both of you will be late, I shall take my leave then, good luck, and I hope you enjoy your life here."

Hm? Student over there?

Turns around

"Heyyy! Please wait for me! Ugh, who the heck welcomes their students like that? Suddenly falling out of the sky, although, I'm glad I was able to escape the maze, even though I just randomly went in circles."

He...seems like an idiot.

"Hey come on be quick, or else we'll be late. I don't want to have a bad image on my first day of class."

Especially since I haven't unlocked my Gift yet, if I already have a bad image at the start, then there's the possibility of me getting isolated, or worse, getting bullied.

If that happens, then I won't be able to fight back due to me not unlocking my Gift yet.

"Hehe, don't worry my friend! We still have enough time to go to our class."

"I'm not your friend."

"Aw come on, don't be like that now! It must be fate that we met like this. Here's my number, call me in case you need anything. I'll be waiting for your call in the future, okay?"

"Ugh fine fine, let's go now, or else we'll really be late."

"Okie dokie! The name's Hendrix by the way, nice to meet ya Surryl! We shall make haste then!"

"Nice to meet you as well I gues- huh? Did I ever tell you my nam-"

"Come on Surryl! What are you doing slowing down over there? We'll really be late if you slow down like that."

Hm... I must have just forgotten, I probably already told him my name, oh well I do have a bad memory I guess.

"Yeah yeah, I'm coming just don't yell like that please."
