Refusing Five Ladies

It was such an immature trick of playing hide and seek!

But, Huan Xue had never imagined that watching people running foolishly with full enthusiasm and then expressing their dismay afterward would bring such entertainment.

Yet, he really took his time following the crowd with his deep green eyes. He was standing in the small shade of a tree, successfully avoiding the scorching heat of the summer sun.

Lady Zhou must have been enjoying the scene from afar!

After a while, Huan Xue suddenly realized that there was something more to this childish game.

Do these people not realize that they are being played?

The longer he observed the crowd of beast hunters and cultivators, the more he noticed that their numbers were simultaneously increasing. The crowd is getting larger!

There were groups that Huan Xue had not seen earlier. It was obvious that after several times of repeatedly answering a call for help, some of those who responded to it were not locals. Those men had similar clothing and outstanding physique.

And then it came to his realization, Lady Zhou was not just simply playing around. She was probably calculating who were these forces that were trying to capture her.

If it was just a simple trick of the game hide and seek. Then, the lady was certainly not hiding! She was seeking her real enemies and forcing them out of their hiding place!

After the fifth time going around, this hide and seek scene finally stopped, leaving only those group of beast hunters and cultivators angry and frustrated.

"According to those business owners, they really saw Lady Zhou!"

"How can we not see her, then? Is she capable of hiding in space? Did Lady Zhou become a ghost?!"

Some of those pursuers had gone to the corner where Han Xue was standing. He somehow recognized a few of their faces from the daily restaurants he had visited and they even offered a friendly smile to him.

"How could we catch her if we don't even see her?"

"We should give up on this. It had been many days but this idea is fruitless! Maybe we can apply to do labor?"

"I've already applied. They only accept tall laborers!"

Huan Xue scanned the food stalls one more time and pretended not to hear their conversation.

"It looks like the fun is over," he muttered subconsciously and finally crossed the street. Before he entered his pavilion, he could not help but glance at the location where he saw the silhouette. It was now an empty table. But, he attempted to remember the figure and see if he can make up its face.

While gazing at the distant table, a group of five ladies came behind him. They were wearing bright colors of garments and looked like they were from a wealthy family.

"Brother Xue, is it?" one of them called his name, pulling him out of his reverie.

Huan Xue turned around and peered at the five ladies. They had a charming smile on their lips and their eyes beamed brightly while staring at him.

"The lady, are you calling me?" Huan Xue asked, feeling a little bit uncomfortable with how this lady acted so intimately.

"It's really him. His eyes are really like forest leaves!" another lady spoke while happily clapping her hand.

It was rather an odd comparison to describe his eyes, but, he managed to hold his laughter. Perhaps, the lady is not so knowledgeable when it comes to literary compositions.

"Brother Xue, I am Xuan Mei. These are my sisters in cultivation. If I may ask, would you like to be our cultivation partner?" the first lady to approach her immediately said.

Such an offer made Huan Xue scratch his head. Although there were five ladies in front of him. He could sense that their elixir fields were really just average.

"My elixir field is not suitable to be your cultivation partner. I hope the lady won't get mad," Huan Xue directly declined.

"Brother Xue, according to an expert, your elixir field is quite unique! But, it is unstable. Maybe you are not aware... however, the expert says that it is normal for sea travelers to have a weaker elixir field. If you agree to be our cultivation partner, our Xuan Sect will naturally treat you with generosity. I can also ask my father to arrange a marriage for us," said Xuan Mei with a determined expression on her face.

Her first words quickly alerted Huan Xue. Who is the expert that noticed his elixir field? Was it the same person that was looking at him earlier?

But then, he suddenly realized that Xuan Mei was proposing a marriage!

"T-This... Lady Xuan Mei is it? Well, I really have to decline your generosity..." Huan Xue trailed and raked his brain to find a reason for his refusal. Who would have thought that the ladies in this region were actually this aggressive?!

Coincidentally, the disaster of Feng Sect suddenly occurred in his mind. And before he realized it, he had already spoken an alibi! "I have a cultivation partner, Lady Xuan Mei. If I accept your offer, my partner will definitely turn vicious and cut my vital organ. She is quite a force to reckon with. I can't replace her or she will hunt me and you will be her next target."

At that point, his mind turned blank and all he was talking was pure nonsense. But, for some unknown reason, he was quiet proud of his quick thinking skills.

"Brother Xue, the Xuan Sect is not really afraid of anyone. You don't have to worry about our safety. We will definitely protect you too," Xuan Mei insisted. She would certainly not accept his rejection. "In fact, brother Xue, if you don't want to be our cultivation partner, someone will target you and steal your elixir field. It is better if you think wisely."

"I am just a sea traveler. There is really nothing special in my elixir field... It's weak and ordinary. Perhaps, this master misled you to approach me, Lady Xuan Mei?" Huan Xue emphasized. He was certain that the ladies had no capabilities of measuring his power. Thus, he could just easily deny everything.

"Ohh... then, don't blame us for not trying to protect you. You have such a good physique and attractive eyes. It's a waste if you just become a cripple. But we won't force you. Brother Xue, see you around," Xuan Mei finally yielded. The five ladies offered a customary bow before they walked away.
