Confusion and Realization

Ten million gold!

For a few seconds, Huan Xue was also stunned. Those people that Qiaolian had offended really put their resources to work just to exact their revenge!

"Come, join us! Don't just stand there and waste our time. You should be aware that many beast hunters and cultivators are willing to capture her! We have so many competitors!" One of the beast hunters urged Huan Xue to follow them.

"Brothers, I don't think I will be useful if I join you. I only plan to hunt beast core... not to capture Lady Zhou," said Huan Xue with a small smile on his lips. He could not help but admire the determination of these beast hunters. They should have realized already how big of a gap their ability to their target.

"Hah! This is why you join us! We do not wish you to help us capture Lady Zhou Qiaolian. We want the entire prize for ourselves! But, she is indeed in the same place as you plan to go. It was reported that the lady had been hunting around the area in the finest area of the Green Mountains. You can proceed to hunt beast when we get there. Don't mind our business!"

"So, that's what it is. Then, you have my gratitude, brothers. Good luck with your plans," Huan Xue expressed. The three ventured just a few miles away from the Feng Sect territory at such a fast speed.

After two hours of their journey, they passed over a hill and stood at the foot of the Green Mountains.

"You go on your way," one of the beast hunters told Huan Xue and they quickly entered the dense woods.

After his companions left, Huan Xue stood in a place for a few minutes and observed the entire place. He wanted to check the elixir fields of the nearest cultivators around, but, with his depleted power, he realized that it would be just a waste of his energy.

After a few moments, he started circulating his power and flew towards the top of the mountain. His primary interest was to get a fine beast core. As for those beast hunters around the Green Mountains, he had no intention to interfere with their business.

While reaching above the air, Huan Xue lowered his eyes and noticed that the peak of the Green Mountains contained a basin of water.

He quickly approached the area and realized that two figures of large tigers were on the ground, mating!

No matter how good the cores of these beasts were, he just could not bring himself to disturb their ritual.

He switched his attention to the water and slowly walked closer.

However, the brisk sound of the air brushing past the leaves startled him. And when he glanced at the area, the two beasts that he dared not disturb had already stopped moving.

The beasts were dead!?

Huan Xue's eyes dilated but he managed not to make a sound. He even utilized his power just to conceal his presence.

He did not blink his eyes and continued to wait. Whoever attacked the beasts would surely appear.

Soon after, the branch of a tree above the tiger corpses snapped and the shadow emerged.

"Oh! How careless of me! I don't like your cores."

Despite the darkness of the night, the brightness of the moon provided enough light for him to see the person's faint purple garment.

And when the person gasped and spoke, Huan Xue was certain that it was a female!

They were just a few meters away. And, with his sharp intuition, Huan Xue somehow recognized this person.

Even if he had not seen her face before, his instinct was clear. Who else could act with such ruthlessness other than Lady Zhou Qiaolian?

If she was heartless enough to cut off the vital organ of her cultivation partner, then, only she could also brutally attack an unsuspecting prey!

Huan Xue suddenly felt the cold sweat on his forehead trickle down the side of his face. But, after a while of watching, he saw a flicker of bright silver light followed by a dense black aura forming on the side of the beasts.

And before he realized what was happening, the two beasts started running wildly and left the place.

At that point, Huan Xue was too confused!

What had just happened?

Did she just bring those beasts back to life? His heart beat wildly like a drum and his hands slightly trembled at the thought.

He wanted to examine the strange aura and its source of power. He had heard the rumor that she was a forged cultivator.

But, no one mentioned what was her elixir field. Huan Xue was too eager to know yet, his instinct told him not to reveal his location.

Only after the shadow walked away and vanished into the night did he take a deep breath of relief. He then recalled the expression of elder Xia when they were having a conversation about his enhanced elixir field.

"Master Xia must have found something but did not tell me about it. He sounded uncompromising when he gave me his list of candidates to be my next cultivation partner."

To clear his mind, Huan Xue turned toward the water and splashed his face. He squatted for a while and just gazed blankly at the stillness of the water.

Then, a plan started to form in his mind. Since master Xia had selected the lady, why not obey it?

"Right now, I don't know what she is capable of. But, my crimson vines may be able to capture her."

In the end, Huan Xue decided to just join hunting the most expensive beast in the mountain. He clasped his hand and the string of vines appeared once more.

"Find her location," Huan Xue instructed before the vines jumped out in the air and slithered to different locations.

Huan Xue's eyes glimmered in a deep green aura and his vision slowly changed to the locations of the vines. With the crimson vines help, he easily scanned the entire mountains.

After a quarter of an hour, he finally saw the same figure, walking lazily in the middle area of the mountains.

For the second time, Huan Xue circulated a green aura in his body and concealed his presence. Without wasting a breath, he hastily flew towards the location.
