Chapter 108

"I swear, he is trained. Do you want me to put him in the other room?"

From Parker's kitchen table, Maddie smiled at the dog. While waiting for a dinner delivery, they'd played with Domino in the backyard. Since sitting down to eat a few minutes ago, he'd plopped his butt next to her chair with his head in her lap.

He was adorable. Hopeful, endearing eyes and a sweet demeanor. A big baby. Well, not incredibly big. He was a medium-sized dog and about as tall as thigh-height when standing. He had lean muscle and was in great shape. Soft fur.

"Naw, he's good. Aren't you, boy?"

The half-hearted arrrooouuufff response was barked against her knee because he wouldn't lift his head. Or go lay down when Parker had asked. Or leave her side since their initial bonding mauling upon arrival.

Parker ducked his head under the table. "You're not giving her a very good first impression, you know."

Domino shifted his eyes to him, then up at her, never moving his head.
