Chapter 71

The hands that have comforted me in my worst nights, the owner of those hands who had protected me and gave colors to my life is now being held captive.

If she pulled the trigger, she would be sad. She would mourn for me and be overridden with guilt for killing me. In my last moments, she would remember me as nothing but a cold body lying in my pool of blood.

Biting my bottom lips, I closed my eyes and accepted my so-called fate.

I've promised her that I will protect her with all my life, and if my death would cease this suffering, I'll accept.

I won't fight my fate.

I won't change.

I won't leave anymore.

"Great choice" I heard Shaoyan say with my eyes closed and wait for my permanent companion; darkness to envelop me once more.

It seems like darkness is my only companion, something that I would always count on yet we have a hate and love relationship.

Then all of a sudden, I heard someone shouting freeze, and before I knew it, my eyes opened and the light almost blinded my eyes. I squinted my eyes to clear my vision and blinked away the sudden haze.

Then I saw the situation in front of me, armed policemen were seen with their guns pointed at Shaoyan and her men. I saw Zhu Rong Heng on the side, although he looks cold, his face is pale and sweating.

Then I happened to met eyes with An Yi Wei. His majestic aura couldn't be hidden by the mass. I could feel his eyes traveling up all over my body as if he was searching for something as he stares at me.

"Freeze! Put your hands above your he-" One of the policemen was cut off when all of a sudden, he was pointing his gun towards me and then pulled the trigger resulting in his comrades pulling him down.

I didn't get injured since the bullet went past my face but it was still so near me I could feel my heart thinking loudly.

The situation became messy, some armed policemen started shooting at their colleagues as I stared at the events that were out of control.

I know it was Shaoyan behind those scenes, she has the power to control this man-made world and she needed things to start again.

Wait.

Start again?

Why would she need to kill me for things to start again? Doesn't she have the power to move things around and control every situation? Why would she do these things, she can lift her fingers and my misery would start again.

My head cleared up and I started to think again if she needed me to die for things to start over again, she dies, would things work out for me as well?

I stood up, looked beside me, and saw Shaoyan and the rest of her minions scattered In the place. A'liu was still out of her consciousness and is standing still, some step away from us.

I walked to A'liu's side and yanked the gun out of her hand and scrutinize the situation orbiting Shaoyan.

I looked at Shaoyan for a long time, she seems like she's concentrating and her face begun to sweat. She didn't even see me so I decided to go to her side.

My hands were still holding the gun, sweat pooling in my palm as I reached her side and pointed the gun at her forehead.

"You-"

"I'll wait for you in hell"

Then I pulled the trigger without hesitation, I watched her eyes widen in terror before her body fell to the ground, limp into the cold dirty ground.

Then I faced the people around me, my eyes met An Yi Wei's panicked eyes and smiled before saying.

"Goodbye"

And soon, the world turned dark.
