Chapter 2: IDAHO

Vince POV

Beep.... Beep.... Beep.... Beep

I groan as I slowly open my eyes to bright lights and repetitive beeping. A sharp pain in my stomach radiates through my whole body begging me not to move again. Looking around, white walls and sheets. I'm in the hospital? I questioned. Scanning the room, I find the two doors. Okay. One is the bathroom and one is my way out. Realizing then, I am only in a hospital gown and my clothes are nowhere in sight. The door swings open and a woman with dark hair appears with a smile when she sees me.

"Glad to see you're awake." a nurse says walking further into the room. "I am Violet, your nurse, can you tell me your name?" she asked. I look at her blankly. She's beautiful. Probably 5'5", bright blue eyes and long brown hair that's tied up.

Realizing she's been watching me stare at her, I clear my throat, "First, where am I? Second, how did I get there? And lastly, where are my clothes?" I roughly ask with a dry throat.

She grabs some water, handing it to me with a smile. "That's a lot of questions. First, you're at St. Luke's Boise Medical Hospital. Now-"

I cut her off, "I'M IN IDAHO!" I yell, causing her to flinch. She nods her head and then continues quickly.

"I understand this can be confusing. You have been here for two months after going into emergency surgery. Now, can you tell me your name? We have registered you as John Doe however, there have not been any visitors for you." she finishes and gives me a pleading look.

I need to get out of here and to my pack so I decide answering her questions is the fastest way to do that. "My name is Vince Carter. I am 18 years old. I would like my clothes and to talk to someone in charge." I demand and lie about my age.

"I will get Doctor Cooper, he did your surgery and has been treating you." She replies with a smile and walks out the room.

Shaking my head I try to remember anything that would help me. I remember the party and dinner toast my father gave. I remember Griffin being in a mood and my wolf trying to act out. Victor I call out to my wolf but get silent back. I can't feel him anymore, where is he? 'Come on, Victor, where are you?' I ask my wolf but get silence back.

Moon Goddess please let my wolf be okay, how can I be alpha without a wolf? I plead with the Moon Goddess. I try to mind link my parents but I don't feel any connection. "Please be okay…" I whisper out loud. Feeling helpless I fight with my body to move into a sitting position and try to stand.

"Woah there tiger, sit back, we don't need you fainting off the bed." A thin man with a white lab coat and glasses walks in, who I can only assume is Dr. Cooper. He watches me carefully, slowly coming closer with his pale hands out waiting for me to faint.

I shake my head. "No, I am no longer light headed. I just need answers to my questions and to leave as soon as possible." I reply with a stern look.

Dr. Cooper sits down next to me, opening a folder labeled 'Vince Carter'. "Alright, Mr. Carter, you were found near Sheep Mountain in Idaho at the end of June. It looked like you were shot and dumped out of a moving vehicle, you were exposed to the elements for approximately 2 weeks and it's amazing that you were even found alive. A hiking group found you and you were airlifted here. I did emergency surgery to remove the bullet from your chest that missed your heart by less than an inch. The damage to your ribs and lungs is what caused you to fall into a coma.

"For the past two months, we have been keeping your vitals stable and waiting for someone to claim you. You had a large amount of silver and a herb called wolfsbane. Over the last week, your blood has cleaned up, ribs and lungs are both healed. I would advise you to stay with us a few more days so we can get you into physical therapy. Your muscles are tight from the lack of movement." He looks up at me to get a response.

"If I can get up right now and walk, can I have clothes and leave?" I stand to my feet and continue. "I don't know where my family is or what happened to me. I just want to go home." I walk to the bathroom door and back to the bed without a noticeable struggle. 'An Alpha must always be strong' I hear my father's voice in my head.

"Mr. Carter, it is impressive that you are walking. However, we need to take some blood and do a complete check up on you before I can even consider letting you leave. If everything comes back stable including you eating a full meal. I will sign a release form." I nod. " Is there anyone you would like me to call? There is a phone on the wall. Dial 8 first, wait for the tone and then dial the phone number." He explains.

"Okay. Thank you." I answered him and sat on the bed.

"I will have the nurse come back in here and take some blood and check your vitals. There is a menu on your side table. You can order through the nurse or dial out to the kitchen which is 585." He stands and leaves the room.

I hang my head, closing my eyes, focusing on my parents. Suddenly a sharp pain hits my heart and I can't feel my connection to my pack. My pack is gone. My parents are gone. My body starts to shake in anger, I rip the IV out of my arm, open every drawer to find clothes. Slamming and breaking everything in my way of getting home.

The nurse walks in and screams, "What happened? Are you alright?" She grabs my arm to check me for injuries.

"LEAVE!" I growl. She stubbles back and runs out the door. I need to get out of here, I can't shift. I get dizzy after my rage fest and find my way back to bed. Dr. Cooper walks in, observing the damage to the hospital room. Slowly finding his way to me.

"Mr. Carter, are you okay?" he asked gently.

"I apologize for the damage, I will pay whatever the cost is. I just need to get out of here. Please do whatever test you need to do and have the nurse order me anything." I replied, closing my eyes and laying on my back.

"Of course. Violet, please take blood and get Mr. Carter some food." I hear him tell the nurse. I hear the door close and reopen a few minutes later.

"Okay. I am going to draw some blood. I have ordered you the lunch special which is a sandwich, fries and applesauce." She quietly tells me and starts to prepare my arm for the needle. Once the nurse leaves, turning off the lights, I fall asleep from exhaustion and pray to the moon goddess that I am home soon.

'Vince. Vince. Vince.' I wake up to my name thinking it's the nurse but I have only been asleep for a few minutes. I close my eyes again. 'VINCE!' I startle awake. "Who's there?" I ask out loud to the dark hospital room.

'It's me, you dumbass.' Victor says weakly.

'Victor, you're back! Are you okay?' I ask him urgently.

'I have been better, I had to stay away to keep myself alive, I knew you would be okay, once you were found.' My wolf answered.

'How did you know I was found?' I was confused.

'I was trying to keep you alive but not drain myself too much. I had to leave you once I knew you were safe so I didn't die.' Victor proudly stated.

I can't believe my wolf was so strong to hold on and keep me alive for two weeks. Well we are alive. We are in Idaho somehow. 'Do you know what happened Victor? I can't remember anything, I can't feel the pack or our parents.' I cry to Victor. Hearing him whine and howl.

'Vince, our parents are gone.' He howls back to me.

My body shakes in anger and loss. How could they be gone, who is watching over the pack, who is making sure the pack is okay? My thoughts haunt me with the unknown. 'Vic, who is Alpha now?' My parents are gone, the future Alpha is probably thought to be dead. I finish slowly as a memory smacks me in the face.

"I guess the new title is 'Dead Future Alpha' now." I heard the voice say in my head. I close my eyes, concentrating on the voice that is repeating in my head. Someone said that to me. I can only remember the dark figure standing in front of me, but the words are his.

'Victor? Who is this monster who destroyed my pack?' I asked my wolf.

'I don't know if you're ready for that yet Vince. You could end up burning the hospital down.'

The nurse walks with a tray, "Here is your food. Your blood work should be back within the hour. As long as you eat, Dr. Cooper will sign the release forms. If you need anything just hit the call light." She turned to walk out but was stopped by me grabbing her wrist.

"Actually, do you know where my clothes are?" I ask her to try to not scare her again.

she's staring at my hand on her wrist, I don't know if she even heard my question. I clear my throat. Her head snaps up to me and replies with a small smile. "When you arrived, you had barely any clothes on. Let me go check to see what we can find for you. My shift ends soon so I will give your next nurse the clothes for you." I nod and let go of her wrist.

I guess it's time to see if this hospital cooks like Joey. Victor had fallen back into my mind when the nurse walked in. He's probably exhausted.
