Chapter 5

The next day, being the season of rain it was drizzling a bit at 6 in the morning. Despite the roads being quiet compared to the daytime and the drizzle keeping most people inside their home, one person was different. In the quiet and empty street a man could be seen running while wearing a windbreaker and his destination was towards a brightly lit neon sign indicating that it was an MMA training center.

Yes, this person was Nick and after going to his home and researching up a bit he decided to sign up to the gym and since the gym would start functioning from early morning till 9 am and then once again in the evening around 4 it coincided with Nick's time schedule.

Going inside the gym Nick met with a different receptionist from yesterday indicating that they were part timers taking different shifts. After signing up Nick went straight inside the gym alongside the receptionist and got introduced to the bald trainer along with other trainers. 

A total of 5 trainers were present consisting of 3 men and two women trainers and alongside them Nick also met other trainees who were mostly professional fighters or on their professional path.

Nick just introduced himself and being a handsome guy made him easily blend with the group of men and women be it trainers and trainees.

The bald trainer who Nick had seen yesterday lead the group of trainers making Nick conclude that he is the head trainer and he asked the most important question of why Nick wanted to learn MMA. Whether it was for recreation and fitness purpose or whether it was due to profession and Nick didn't try to hide the fact that he was a cop and said that it was for self defence as he frequently came across dangerous suspects leading to fights.

None of them were overly surprised by this as it was quite common for cops to take up martial arts and MMA had been the most obvious choice as it had a plethora of moves and not restricting it to just punches or kicks or wrestling.

Then came the question of how serious and how intense he wanted the training to be and having already prepared his mind he gave an answer with a serious face by telling them that he wished to receive intense training with the intent of gaining expertise. 

As a normal cop he might not need such training, however knowing how dangerous this world was for a normal human and once he becomes a Grimm the level of danger would only escalate, he decided to gain expertise in combat. 

Seeing my serious look the bald trainer accepted it while warning Nick that it would be tough for him and he could tell them if he feels that it is too intense to the point of affecting his work and Nick gave a serious nod.

With that the training started with the trainer testing Nick's physical capability by doing various tests to decide the training routine.

Meanwhile he got to know the other trainers and the trainees. The bald man who was the head coach was called George, an ex MMA fighter who had long retired. Amongst the other two trainers, one was a professional trainer who has links with Hollywood to give C list actors martial arts training. His name was Stephann with a double n. Yes that's how he introduced himself to Nick and the final one was a part time trainer who also has his client, an active professional UFC fighter whom he was training. His name was Liam. 

Amongst the two women one is a soldier and a certified CQC trainer for the military. While the other is an up and coming UFC fighter and also trained people as a way to earn more money And their names were Madeline and Sara respectively.

Nick also mingled with the fellow trainees who were either active professionals while one was unsurprisingly a colleague of his albeit in a different capacity. He was an FBI agent and as an up and coming rookie he decided to train himself in combat.

Having realised that they come from a similar background made Nick and Funtes hit it off. The tests went on for an hour and after George studied the output he found that Nick was in pretty good shape and prepared a workout routine after taking that into consideration.

Following hour was quite tough for Nick as he was subjected to HIIT training followed by shadow boxing and posture correction. Around 8 in the morning Nick reached his home dragging his rather tired body and took a cold shower to rest his body before waltzing to his office after making a quick call to his girlfriend.

Nick was hit with an hectic schedule of going to work, to do paperwork in days where there were no cases and to the crime scene followed by chasing down leads, suspects and finally capturing/killing them, taking psychiatric tests whenever gun fights and killing took place to ensure mental fitness and finally juggling between Julliete's place and training facility to ensure physical fitness and before he knew 6 months had already passed with him barely having any breathing room for himself however in such environment Nick grew both physically and mentally.

Compared to the Nick from the canon the current Nick was far stronger and lethal and having assimilated with the skills present within the original Nick his individual skills such as intelligence, eidetic memory and drawing skills went up by a lot making him capable of solving cases which he was otherwise struggling during the initial weeks of his transmigration.

This was not all, the current Nick with his fitter physique was much more handsome and his toned physique accentuated his clothes making him very attractive to women and this had caused him to be flirted by girls whenever he was out on case or on dates with Julliete. His personal relationship with Julliete became much more closer at an even earlier date and their love life has been more active making her completely be head over heels for him, so much so that she had been suggesting them to move in together this past week which was 1.5 yrs earlier than the cannon. 

However good news doesn't come alone, it always comes together with trouble. Though Nick wouldn't call this trouble his earlier plans were no longer of much use. From the canon Nick knew that women would get the powers of Grimm earlier, possibly in their teenage compared to men who would get them from anywhere around mid twenties to late twenties. In canon Nick only obtained this power at the age of 29 however it seemed like all were not as simple as it was told in the canon.

The speed with which a man awakening his Grimm abilities seemed to depend on how much he could assimilate with his blood and Nick from canon could only assimilate and enter peak of his fitness only at the age of 29, however the current Nick with his training in MMA found it off late that his strength, agility, sense of balance and to a certain extent ability to predict his opponent's next move due to synergy of eidetic memory, intelligence and experience gained through sparring experience a sharp raise. 

This caused the people in the training center to be shocked and felt that he was naturally talented. George even suggested him to take up MMA as his profession and said that he was wasting his talent by being a police officer thought it was politely declined by Nick.

His talent made George to be fired up and thought him many different skills while Nick also learned CQC techniques from Madeline making him extremely lethal in unarmed combat. Further every weekend he spent two hours of his time training in a shooting range in different techniques and to train for various situations like hostage rescue, neutralising hostile in closed environment with SWAT after purposely getting to know the team leader and his team mates giving him the opportunity to train with them every once in a while.

All this had unknowingly activated his dormant bloodline and little by little the time of his awakening came closer.
