Mo's Strength

As soon as Mo heard those words, happiness evaporated from his eyes. His customary warmth, gone. The feelings of a laid back older man relaxing got swapped with a man on a warpath ready to do anything to save the ones he loved.

Although he has only known Korra and Gon for seven months, they had become family to him. Before that, he never really had anyone. He had lost his buddies in the war against Avatar many years ago and couldn't get passed that phase in his life. Heck, the only reason he had previously decided to teach them in the art of fire was that he was trying to repay the favor of them, saving him, but it soon changed from that.

As the weeks went by, he started to warm up to them, and soon he was training them to be his protegee. He cared for them and wouldn't allow anything to happen to them.

Mo ran in the general direction that the woman had told him that they were in, boosting himself with bursts of fire to get there quickly. He was afraid, afraid of what could and might happen to them, DEATH. He didn't know what he would do if they were dead though, Mo guessed that he would have mourned for a bit and then chase down every one of their attackers and eliminate them in the slowest possible way.

As soon as he got to the scene, he saw his student's attacker carrying them on both shoulders, looking as if he was about to leave.

"Stop right there!!!" Mo shouted, "How dare you steal my students. Give them back or die."

"Shut the hell up, old man," Iroh shouted, "You can't beat me. You're past your prime, man."

"You take my students, you insult me," Mo said, now very angry, "You have signed your death wish!!!"

"Like you could d--"

Before Iroh could finish the sentence, he was fire kicked by Mo and then punched to the ground causing him to drop Korra and Gon.

Iroh quickly stood up and spat blood from his mouth.

"Maybe this will be fun," Iroh smiled.

Iroh jet propulsion himself towards Mo and then attempted to use a fireball to his stomach, but Mo quickly dodged and threw knives of fire at Iroh's leg, weakening the man's mobility.

Iroh screamed as the fire daggers burnt his skin but quickly reacted and decided to shoot fire missiles at Mo, pushing him back to a wall. Iroh immediately rushed to do well, attempting to shoot him with a fire blast, but Mo promptly dodged to the side and attacked with a punch to Iroh's head, causing him to fall to the ground screaming.

"I take no pleasure in taking you down, none. I apologize, but it was necessary. You attacked my students, and so you had to pay the price. I am only giving you mercy because I promised to stop being a murderer after the war. You are weak, and that is a fact. I can't call this a cruelty because you tried to steal my loved ones from me. In my eyes, you are nothing. My students will surpass your strength soon. Don't you dare touch them till then or..." Mo whispered into the ears of his defeated attacker.

Iroh was on the floor, crying. This moment was the first time in his life that he had felt so weak. He was hailed as a prodigy his whole life and was one of the youngest generals, but this older man had just defeated him in seconds. He looked at the man that saw him as nothing but a fly.

At that moment, he thought, "I can't give up!!!"

Suddenly he stood up and attacked Mo. Mo, who was surprised at this man's willpower, decided to show him something special. White flames started to come out of his hands, and the Iroh's fire disappeared.

"This move is called flame eater. It absorbs a lot of oxygen from the air, causing other fires to go out hence the name flame eater," Mo said, "Maybe you do have potential, Iroh. Say hello to your mom for me. It has been years since I saw little Izumi. Tell her Uncle Mo was here."

Mo quickly grabbed his students and left the scene.

Iroh looked as the man walked into the distance and smiled.

"So, that's why he was so strong!!!" Iroh thought, "I can't wait to tell my mates in the army that I got acknowledged by 'The' legendary Mo."

Mo was a soldier who fought against many criminals. He was said to have locked up the worst of the worst back in the day like Zaheer and Ghazan. Each war he had fought in was a war the fire nation had won. He was a legend that was said to be even on par or mightier than his namesake, older man Iroh.

Iroh stood up and started limping in the direction of his boat.

(Thirty minutes later)

"Ah!! What happened?" Gon asked as he suddenly recalled to day events and then proceeded to shout, "Where's Korra."

"I am right here," Korra responded, "I woke up a few moments before you and asked the same question."

They looked around and saw that they were not on a ship.

"Did we already get to the water nation," Gon asked.

Mo suddenly came from behind them and said, "Nope, still in the fire nation. You guys are lucky I saved you. Tell me why that man was chasing you."

Gon was contemplating. He wasn't sure to tell the man because their last teacher had betrayed, and he was starting to have a lot of trust issues but, Korra spits it out.

"The White lotus is chasing me because I am the Avatar!!" Korra said.

Gon just sighed. Gon guessed that he would have to trust Mo.

"Well, shit," Mo said, "Why are they chasing you?"

"I kind of ran away from them with the help of Gon," Korra said.

"Why?" Mo asked.

"I want to explore the world and not be cooped up in some boring place," Korra replied.

"Ok," Mo said, accepting the answer, "You guys need to go. They could be back any second now. I know how annoying Katara and the rest are when they have a goal. But before that, I'll teach you a final move."

He started forming white flames in his hands.

"This is called flame eater. It is more powerful than regular flame/ It can be used for attacking but its main purpose is defense. It erases all flames in the immediate area and can burn faster than any other flame."

Gon and Korra quickly learned the technique and then rushed away.

"Bye, my students," Mo said.
