Let me know if you're the owner and want it down. This is my second novel, so you can expect an above average quality of writing. There will be romance but it'll be gradual, and he won't be dense or anything since that would be annoying. The MC might be a tad bit insane at times, and he won't be OP immediately. But he won't be losing too often. Anyways, enjoy! And check out my other novel, The Child Soldier's Reincarnation if you like my style of writing. Upload schedule: As of now, daily but I'll take a one day break whenever I need it.

Chapter 16 - Leaving Hell [1]

Ignition.

That was the chant that I used when I wanted unleash the power of the God's Heart. During my time here, I had understood something, it was that my soul was constantly suppressing the power of the God's Heart. This protected me from it's overwhelming power, but consequently, it meant I couldn't use that power.

However, when I chanted 'Ignition', I could use a small fraction of the power this heart held.

Heat radiated from my body, then, that heat coalesced into my hand. And so, a brilliant white flame burst forth. The flame didn't seem to obey my will, rather, it seemed to want to consume me. The flame's power was immense.

However the flame was so fierce that it threatened to harm me if I didn't use every fibre of my being to control it. The flame was so full of wrath, so full of hatred that it threatened to consume me.

I looked at the old man, he was on the floor, kneeling. I walked over to him, and then I looked down at the man.

"What am I? Are you... a God? I just... can't understand how else you could've awakened to the power of Flame so quickly, or how you just seem to grow impossibly quickly."

Without answering him, I placed my hand on his face, and soon the flame began to burn his body. It consumed his body in its entirety, his body was devoured by the brilliant flame.

"What am I? How the hell should I know."

I looked at his body, it was burnt to a damn crisp. And so, I kept walking until I found the room that I was looking for.

According to my memories, this place had an Artifact known as 'The Cloak Of Darkness.' It was an Artifact that could act as a storage system, if memory served right, it was found by Caelus and he handed it the Imperial family who basically stored it away.

It wad eventually used by the Villainess, but she really doesn't need it. Not more than I need it anyways. The Cloak Of Darkness could also act as armour, it could be used to shield oneself from attacks.

The Cloak Of Darkness was one of those crazy useful items that basically never gets mentioned after it's debut. I personally found that annoying considering how cool I found the name to be.

And so, as I walked through the facility, I found a door with a sign that road 'Storage Room' on it.

When I opened the door, the only thing that was there was a winter cloak that was black in color, it had a mane of fur alongside the neck area that ran down to the shoulder region.

As soon as I touched the cloak, I felt my soul bond to the cloak, and then, it dissapeared from it's hanger. I was confused for a moment, before realising that I had 'bonded' with the Artifact. There were many types of Artifacts.

One kind of Artifact was the 'soul bound' type, they bound the soul of the user and could be materialised and dematerialised as the user willed. They were among the rarest of Artifacts and were immensely expensive.

Artifacts weren't something that could be made, and as such, the rarer the Artifact and the more unique it is. The more expensive it is.

Artifacts ranged from things that were formed by the world itself, to legendary items left behind by heroes and Gods. The Cloak Of Darkness's origin was unknown to me, but it likely had something to do with either the world or the Gods.

Not that it mattered, all that mattered now was that I had a backpack that doubled as a shield and as a cool cape.

Since the Artifact had bound to my soul, I could understand another thing, it was a 'growth type' Artifact. These Artifacts generally weren't well liked as they scaled with their user's strength. So if the user was weak, the Artifact wouldn't be that strong. However the stronger I was the more durable the cloak would be.

Now as for why this is here, I have no idea. My assumption would be that the 'Master' left it behind, maybe as a reward for the researchers or maybe it was for me to use once I had been made into their pawn.

And so, I walked out of the room and ran to the burnt body, and stuffed it into the Cloak Of Darkness. Then I decided to look for a Knight, I was sick and tired of being in this place.

I wanted to see the sun, the actual sun.
