A failed mission

"What!" Muna screamed in shock as she stared at the quiet Arsenal. "You want me to enroll in a school?" She asked him.

"This is the tenth time you are asking me this," Arsenal said to her and she muttered and went to sit on the small stool there. "It will be much easier for you to associate with humans than me," he stated.

"But I can not! How do you expect me to associate with all these humans? They make me sick!" She replied.

"If you want me to help you, you must do what I want you to do!" He said to her.

"Hmmm," she sighed in defeat. What could she do? Her only choice was to resort to her fate. "Is it just enrolling there or is there a specific thing you want me to do?" She asked him.

"The school located in this city is mainly for those born with the ability to cultivate and use magic, I should go instead but my body is still very weak. I may end up revealing my true identity to them which I do not want so you are the only one fit for this job. While you are there, you must gather information about rare objects that help one during cultivation as well as areas filled with spiritual energy. I must improve my body as soon as possible," he replied.

"What about me? Won't they find me suspicious?" She asked him.

"You have failed to annihilate me which means you are no longer an immortal, no one will suspect your origin," he replied.

"No, I am not a human! My immortal root is still intact," she disagreed.

"Okay, whatever you say," he said and laid down to sleep. "Tomorrow, I'll make everything ready for you," he added before dozing off.

Muna was not happy with all the things that were happening to her. First, she failed to kill him and ended up becoming his servant instead, second, she hasn't even seen her mistress, so how was she going to save her? And now, she was going to go to school and associate with the humans there! Her life was gradually becoming a mess, she could see it.

"If not for you, master, I wouldn't have bothered myself with the things relating to the devil. I would have stayed back, at least, it was more peaceful up there," she said with a sigh. Later on, she yawned and lay down on the floor beside the bed before falling asleep.

Early the following morning, Arsenal was awoken by Muna's cries. He opened his eyes and saw her writhing in pain.

"Ah!" She yelled and he sat up immediately and cast a spell on her.

The spell he cast on her was to reduce the pain and fortunately, it worked as she stopped screaming and was only struggling with herself.

After some time, everything stopped and she opened her eyes, tears streamed down her cheeks.

"My immortal root," she said whilst crying. The time given to her had already expired and the punishment for her failure was her immortal root. Without the immortal root, she was no longer an immortal, and would never be able to become one again.

"My years of hard work have been destroyed," she said as she continued to cry.

"Do not worry about your powers. If you are willing, I can make you stronger than you were before," Arsenal said to her.

"You aren't even able to protect yourself yet," she said to him amidst her cry.

"For now, I am still at the moon level. With proper cultivation, I will be able to advance into the second and third levels of cultivation. As your Master, I won't let you be subject to ridicule so I must get stronger so that I can make you become like me," he said to her.

"To become a demon?" She asked him. She was reluctant to accept it.

"If only you are willing. Here, I'll give you from now till the end of this month to think about it. If by then you aren't able to make a decision, I will have to use my power as your Master," he told her.

"Fine, I'll think about it," she said and wiped away her tears.

After the day had finally broken, Arsenal took Muna and they both left the inn. He planned on making money first and one of the ways of making quick money in the town was partaking in the game called 'Dungeon Raid'.

Standing outside of the building, Arsenal read the rules placed on the notice board there.

"Ninety percent of the spoils acquired goes to the participant while the remaining ten percent goes to the organization. Hmmm," he said and sighed.

"Ten percent? These humans are greedy!" Muna said to him with an angry face.

"Isn't it better than the other two we visited? Let's go in," he replied and headed for the building.

When they went in, they saw other participants lined up so they went and joined the queue. Soon after, a lady came to address them.

"Good morning everyone, I am sure that all of you here might have read the rules written outside. With not much talk, I would like to proceed with the details of today's game. The dungeon has a total of twelve levels, and each level has its own master. These masters are ranked in the formation of their strength so you must defeat these masters to acquire the treasure. The winners will be one, the first participant to defeat the master and acquire the treasure, and second, the participant with the highest loot. You are free to use whatever weapon or means you feel like using but do not take anyone's life, that is against the rule."

After speaking, she directed them to a spot and pressed a button on the wall. A round diagram formed on the floor there and began to glow.

"This will lead you to the entrance of the dungeon," she said to them and one by one, the participants began to step into the spell.

When it got to Arsenal's turn, the lady stopped him. "Kid, it's dangerous. Are your parents not aware of what you are about to do?" She asked them.

"It's none of your business," Arsenal replied and stepped into the spell. Muna followed behind quickly and together, they disappeared from that spot.

After disappearing, they soon found themselves at the entrance of the said dungeon.

"The others have all gone inside the dungeon," Muna told him.

"Yeah. We should go in too," Arsenal said and she nodded and followed him inside.

By the time they arrived inside, they met the other participants. They were waiting for the first door to open as it was supposed to but surprisingly, three doors opened.

"Huh? What's happening?" A man asked.

"These three doors are optional, we just have to find the right door and go in," another man replied.

"But how do we even find the right door?" Someone asked worriedly.

"Leave it to me!" A bold man said and walked to the front with a long sword in his hand. He swung the sword right away and two out of the three doors were destroyed immediately. "This is it!" He said and went in. "Such a powerful sword," the first man said.

"Yes, I have to agree with you," the second man agreed.

They followed the man inside and were surprised to see three entrances.

"Hmmm, the man destroyed the doors but he couldn't destroy the main entrances," Arsenal said with a smug look on his face.
