Preperations

All right the first chapter after so long. i hope you enjoy, things will start to pick up a lot after this.

Also after overwhelming votes, Jason is the name of the mc who reincarnated in body as Klaus Mikaelson. Seriously almost felt bad for name John

Klaus was sitting in his office overlooking the city, listening to some slow jazz that was being played in the evening.

He was enjoying a small bottle of bourbon while reading a grimoire, or attempting to, as his mind kept racing through all the new ideas and plans he had for the future.

After taking a large gulp from the bottle, he wore a satisfied look on his face.

He had never been one to enjoy drinking alcohol back in his world. He cared neither for its taste nor the loss of control it would bring. However, as a hybrid, his taste buds seemed to have changed, and he actually enjoyed the flavor. As his tolerance allowed him to drink an entire bar without getting drunk, he chose to make an exception.

Originally, he deemed alcohol to be nothing more than a weapon he could use to extract information from someone, and because of that, he never wanted to be on the receiving end of it; not to mention becoming a laughingstock in front of everyone.

This was precisely why he always held onto the belief that alcohol should never be enjoyed in public, but alone in the comfort of your own walls.

Klaus let out a loud sigh as he took another swig from the bottle while the recent events played out in his mind, which soon turned into a smirk as he recalled Rebekah's tale of Little Wolf putting Jackson in his place, or rather how Rebekah eloquently phrased it, "put him down in his doghouse."

While refusing to show or admit it, he was quite relieved by this.

Although he and Haley had grown closer these past few weeks, unfortunately, due to his planning and plotting, they had not reached the point he initially hoped they would before curing the "pack of fleabags," as he liked to call them.

He had thought of delaying the cure for a month, but he reconsidered as he recalled the night before when he and Haley shared an emotional, intimate moment that resulted in her sleeping in his room. That, coupled with the revelation of Jackson's family, gave him confidence that she would choose them over the mutts.

He was also grateful to know that Haley remained as strong and fierce as he thought her to be; the fact that she acted much more vulnerable around him, not needing to keep her walls up as she had her entire life—as he had to, to survive—was another indication of how close they had gotten.

In fact, it worried Klaus himself, as he found himself being drawn to her more than he had planned. He knew full well that childish foolishness like love would always be followed by a dagger in the heart or in the back.

However, all of this still didn't put him at ease. He knew how important family was to her and how desperate she was for one. Klaus was aware that this meant she might still choose to remain at their side, but if that was the case, he already had a suicidal bomber in place to pay the dogs a visit. By now, he had several dozen new vampires and hundreds of locals in this city under his compulsion, giving him eyes and ears everywhere in the city except when it came to the witches.

An issue he looked forward to resolving permanently.

The thought brought a grin to his face as he flipped the page of the grimoire, trying to learn and memorize as many spells as he could while silently cursing the original Klaus for his ignorance regarding magic.

One would think a paranoid bastard would hold more knowledge about the only power that could truly threaten him, especially considering that magic practically held limitless potential.

"How the hell do these witches memorize all these words without photographic memories?" Klaus mumbled to himself as he could feel a headache coming on.

While he understood the language, it was still a pain to make it out properly, especially since this one belonged to their mother, which was far more complicated and difficult to decipher.

He turned another page while rubbing his eyes, allowing his thoughts to once again venture to the rest of his family.

His sister Rebekah and Marcel seemed to be getting a lot closer lately, especially since they did not fear Klaus's reaction this time.

Klaus himself remained indifferent to their relationship as he had more pressing matters to attend to, but he still remained wary of Marcel.

While Klaus's theory about Marcel proved to be correct—that he was a puppy longing for the approval of the Mikaelsons and to be accepted as one of their own—Klaus also knew that would never be enough for a man like Marcel.

Marcel was not a man who would be satisfied by standing side by side with the others, being an equal, which he was not, neither in power nor in rank.

He was much like the original Klaus. He wanted to be better, to prove himself to be more than they were; he wanted to stand above, and that was something Klaus would never allow.

This was all supported by his actions in the past. Klaus recalled memories of forcing Marcel to choose between a life of immortality but without Rebekah, or a short human one but with her by his side.

While it may have seemed cruel at first glance, it was a test to prove if his words—his declarations of love towards his sister—actually held any weight beyond his own ambition.

And as he thought, he did not hesitate to choose himself, turning his back on Rebekah, his "oh-so-great love," leaving her with a dagger in her heart.

And this is not to mention how he later manipulated her into bringing back Mikael, only to have them hunted and chased away like a couple of mutts.

Once Mikael did arrive and they managed to get out of there alive, then what happened? Marcel once again turned his back on everyone, taking the crown for himself to reign in the city that was built by the Mikaelsons themselves.

However, this would not be an issue for long, as the serum would soon be introduced.

Klaus had plans to take the serum himself. Not only would it end his sireline—since it would require him to die to work—but it would also eliminate countless enemies in one fell swoop, including Marcel.

Initially, he had thought of making the serum himself with the help of Freya and Kol, as he did not want to wait or risk waiting for Lucian and Strix, but he was forced to quickly abandon the idea.

He could not allow anyone to know about the serum, which meant he would have to set up a scene for when the time came, where he would take the serum only after Lucian created it.

Klaus was no fool; he knew that in a world of magic and compulsion, with being watched from the other side, there were far too many ways for one to enter his mind or discover his secret by other means.

It was not a matter of if, but when. And when that time came, he needed to be ready.

He had no doubt that no matter how much they might come to love this new version of him, they would not hesitate to strike him down in order to bring back the original bastard, if that was even possible.

Unfortunately, this left him in a vulnerable state.

Vulnerable might not be the right word, as a hybrid novice could really best him in combat, or rather in close-range combat, but he was well aware of his limitations.

If he were to face against Dahlia, he would stand no chance whatsoever. He might not even fare better against the witches who were powered by ancestors, not to mention his whore of a mother.

Hell, even the Scooby Gang managed to get the better of him in the past.

The thought infuriated him, causing cracks to start appearing on the bottle. His anger was soon replaced with a devilish grin as the thought entered his mind of when he would visit the Salvatore brothers again and the new Katherine who would soon take over Elena's body.

After another big gulp of bourbon, Klaus brought his mind back to the present. He pulled out his phone as he looked at a message he had received a few hours ago.

It read, "Everyone located, awaiting your next order."

Klaus read it over and over, contemplating his next move. While he might not be able to take the serum yet, he had come up with a theory—another way to upgrade himself to something more, something stronger, something that would even surpass Hope as a tribrid.

He had everything he needed to test his theory, all but one.

He needed one powerful witch. Powerful in both craft and knowledge, but most importantly, one he could trust.

Klaus knew Kol could pull it off, but whether he could be trusted was the question that kept running through his mind.

Even if he were to ignore their past—all the betrayal and daggers—Klaus knew that in Kol's 1,000 years of existence, he had never loved or longed for anything or anyone like he did for magic.

When he turned into an original vampire, he was no longer able to practice it; he lost a piece of himself—maybe the most important one. It was much like how Klaus's wolf side was bound.

It's a terrible feeling: to have something, to want it, to feel it, but be unable to access it.

As much as Klaus wanted to do this, he knew the temptation would be far too much for his brother, and it would likely result in another betrayal. Even if Kol could practice magic in a human body, everyone knew it was only temporary, and if he found out about this, he would do anything to obtain it himself.

Temptation, coupled with the vulnerable state Klaus would need to be in for this to work, meant that if Kol chose to take advantage of this, the result would be catastrophic.

Klaus let out a growl of annoyance and anger, feeling stuck, when suddenly a knock was heard at his door.
