Lust and Royalty, Part Five
Javir leaned against the balcony railing, her sharp, green eyes surveying the event below. Her head rested on her right palm, her left hand holding a glass of wine as a subtle pout tugged at her lips.
The dance floor was a whirl of color and motion, the couples spinning and swaying to the swell of the music. The only indication that Javir gave to suggest she even heard the music was the tapping of her foot against the ground because Javir's attention was focused elsewhere.
Scanning one face after another, Javir cataloged every person she saw.
[Agendas, plots, schemes, all in hushed whispers and careful conversations...] Javir sighed.
It was exhausting just to look at.
[Some things never change,] she thought wryly, taking a sip of her wine. [The players may be different, but the game remains the same. I'm getting tired just watching it all.]
"Well, well, look what the cat dragged in," a silky voice purred from behind her.
