Aizawa returned shortly.
"Alright, here are the results of the test." He said, projecting the scores in the air with his calculating device.
Exceptedly, Dante and Calvin came first and second, respectively.
With Momo Yoayorozu following in third.
Followed by the other students. Each happy they did not place last. That is everyone, but Midoriya, who had come in last, was happy.
He stared at his name at the very bottom of the list in shock and disbelief. All that was going through his mind was how he had failed All Might and his mother.
Realising what was going to happen to him everyone but a few looked at him with pity and concern.
Until Mr. Aizawa spoke.
"I have decided that last place will not be expelled."
What he had said reached Midoriya but took a while from him to process due to his shock. But when he did, he slowly raised his head and looked at Shota Aizawa in disbelief. Not sure if he was hearing things.
His fellow class, who had heard were happy for him, approached him to rejoice.
Momo Yoayorozu nodding knowingly was but to say something when the voice of Shota Aizawa fells again.
"However, there will be an expulsion today."
This caused everyone to freeze in their spot. Momo Yoayorozu included. She did not expect this.
'He shouldn't have the power to expel students. Yet, he seems so adamant on expelling someone. Even so, if Midoriya isn't the one being expelled, then who is?' Momo Yoayorozu racked her brain to think of someone.
Shota Aizawa spoke again.
"Calvin and Dante. From here on out, you two are to be expelled from UA."
His words stunted everyone present.
"WHAT??" They shouted in unison.
No one expected this. Calvin and Dante scored the highest in the class out, performing everyone in almost every category. Yet, they were going to be expelled.
The class could not believe what they were hearing.
Calvin frowned at this announcement. They had clearly performed well. They came in first and second, yet they were being expelled.
Was the teacher targeting them for a reason?
Dante, on the other hand, looked relaxed as always. With a slight smile, he asked.
"Mr. Aizawa, might I be able to ask what is the reason behind your desire to expel us?"
From what he picked up of Mr. Aizawa he wasn't the type of teacher to abuse his power or pick on a student. Although his action seemed cruel, they were usually for the best.
There had to be a reason behind his action.
"I do not owe you an explanation. But this would serve as a good lesson for the other students so I will give you one." Aizawa remarked.
"You're being expelled because of your approach to this test. While I do find your relaxed couldn't careless attitude irritating. I tolerate it." He paused. "What I can not tolerate is you applying that same attitude to this test.
This test is to help the school and yourself get an approximate of your current strength. So that you know your starting point and we know how to help you improve. But regardless of that, you did not take this test seriously, not once. Acting as though this was all a game."
Directing his gaze to the crowd of students, he says, "The moment you stepped through the school gates, you were no longer simple students but hero candidates. If you can't take a simple task such as these seriously, how can you be trusted with the lives of those we protect?"
Returning his gaze to the two, he continued, "You guys got in through recommendation, so you are well connected, and from your previous performance, you have great quirks and talent. But I'm not going to allow you to make a mockery of what it means to be a hero just because you have a little talent and luck. Unlike everything else in your life, this is something you have to earn."
Aizawa ended sternly.
The field was silent.
Hearing this, the previous smile on Dante's face slowly disappeared.
The students started to whisper.
"It did kinda look like that went taking it seriously."
"Yeah, like they weren't even trying but still to expel them."
"That's a bit much."
"Even if they weren't trying, they still came first and second."
"I guess UA isn't a place where one survives just with a great quirk."
"Yeah, a powerful quirk isn't everything."
The class started mumbling. All of which fell into Dante's ears.
"If you disagree with my decision, you can contest it. You have the money and influence to do that. But I will not allow you back in my class." Aizawa added.
