As dawn broke over the valley, a mist rolled in, thick and unnatural, concealing the way forward. Emily shivered, feeling a chill that was not only in her bones but in the air itself, as if the mist held secrets waiting to be uncovered. The relic around her neck pulsed, faintly at first, then stronger, responding to something beyond the visible world.

"We should be moving," Calem whispered, glancing around as the dense fog swallowed their surroundings, turning the world around them into an eerie gray void.

Emily held up a hand to quiet him. "Wait. I feel… something." She could sense a presence, an awareness lurking within the mist, watching them, testing them. It was as though the boundary between the realms had thinned, and she knew they were not alone.

"Emily," Mara's voice was a low murmur. "This isn't normal mist."
