The village lay in ruins as Emily and her forces arrived at dawn. The air was thick with smoke and the acrid scent of burnt wood. Houses had been reduced to smoldering rubble, and the few remaining structures stood as charred husks against the morning light. Survivors, huddled together in groups, bore expressions of trauma and despair. Emily's heart ached for them, but she steeled herself; there was work to be done.
"We need to help these people," Emily said, her voice carrying both compassion and command. She turned to Valen and Seraphina, who stood beside her, their faces grim. "Seraphina, organize the healers. Valen, set up a perimeter. We need to ensure the safety of these villagers while we investigate."
