Chapter one

Serena's heartbeat slowed with each passing moment. She lay in the middle of a deserted road bleeding out. There was no one around to help her, no sign of life for miles away.

She could only curse her stupidity at that moment. It was so crazy to think of the reason that she was dead, the worst part was knowing that no one would miss her.

Tears ran down her eyes slowly. She didn't dare blink, her eyes stared at the moonless night sky burning with the thirst for vengeance.

She was feeling such an overwhelming pain from how naive and stupid she had been to trust the wrong people. Love was the cause of all the pain that she felt in her heart.

But it was too late, she was dying and there was nothing that could be done anymore. Those that had betrayed and used her for their benefit were enjoying their lives while she was dying away in the middle of nowhere.

Her heart grew cold. She pressed her lips together enduring the pain in silence. She had been destroyed by her closest allies, at least she thought that they were her friends. When her eyes opened, it was already too late to do anything.

She had given up on everything for someone that she held close to her heart. For five years she had been married to him, she had given him all of her heart and trusted everything that came out of his mouth.

He mislead her and used her to get everything that was in her name. For her money and properties, he played her like a game. One that he won, sadly she lost as she had no idea the game was going on.

The darkness around her promised vengeance on her enemies and she was willing to pay any price to get back those who wounded her. Physically, emotionally and mentally.

"Hah," she drew a deep breath, her heart was slowly nearing a stop. She heard the sound of tires nearing her, her eyes lit up a little at the ray of hope of being saved. She couldn't move or speak from the pain.

The car stopped not far from her, soon footsteps were walking towards her. She felt chills run down her spine. Before her eyes flashed two faces. One female and the other male.

"Poor thing," the female uttered. "You aren't dead yet," she added in frustration.

Serena gritted her teeth with the little strength that she had left. It was dark but she could recognize that voice anywhere. The voice of the woman who with many others planned her downfall, her husband's mistress and partner in crime.

"She will be soon," the male uttered. Hearing the voice that used to drive her crazy at that moment.

She felt disgusted. He was someone that she trusted to the moon and back. She never had an ounce of doubt about his character at all and the price for blindly trusting those around her was a lonely death.

"I can't wait to finally get rid of her. She is such a pain alive," the female spoke. Serena listened helplessly.

She prayed for their sakes that her souls move on after death, cause only goodness knew what she would do to them if her ghost came back for vengeance.

They had ruined her life.

"It will happen and we can finally be rid of her," her husband added.

Selena's heart gave out. She drew her last deep breath under the inauspicious moonless night. Her blood burnt with anger and hatred in her last moment before she drifted off into the darkness.

"She is dead," the woman said happily. She and the man carried Serena's dead body away from the road.

They took out tools from the trunk of their car and dug a grave for her in the middle of nowhere, once the grave was dug. They carelessly pushed her body into the hole and happily poured sand all over her.

Both of them were relieved to have finally gotten rid of her. Their lives were set from that moment on and they could care less about how unjust they had been treated.

"Let's never come back here again love," the female said. She didn't want Serena's ghost to haunt them or curse their happiness, the girl was just capable of doing that.

"Don't worry babe, I have no intentions of visiting her again. I could barely stand her alive let alone now that she has passed," he informed her.

He took her into his arms and together they walked away from the unmarked grave. Serena stood on the sidelines watching the whole thing, her soul had not left the place yet. Watching how they disposed of her body, not letting her family say goodbye to her.

Burying her in the middle of nowhere in an unmarked grave made her heartache. She was without words to say about the couple that happily embraced each other on top of her grave.

The life she led was so meaningless seeing how she met her end. She had given up her world for her husband, for them to have a happy life together for eternity. Heard from his lips that he couldn't stand the sight of her.

She felt so stupid for the choices that she had made. All that she ever wanted was a peaceful life with no drama. Just a lovely marriage and a sweet child to call her mommy. But now that had changed.

She hated the idea of a happy family and marriage. The only thing she craved was giving her enemies a taste of their own medicine. Getting them to suffer until they drew her last breath.

She found her soul moving. She didn't look back at her grave and let the mysterious force pull her away. She didn't see any bright light like she had heard and read about.

She was just being pulled away and weirdly, she was following the path her killers went.

She was too tired to care where she was floating too. Her soul floated until it made it to where her husband and her boyfriend had gone to. It was a resort not far from where she was murdered.

They packed the car and moved to enter the resort, she followed them in, she was shocked at the sight that she saw.

"She is dead and buried," her husband announced.

"Let's toast," her sister said. Many more people fetched their glasses and filled them with wine, everyone that she trusted completely was in the room enjoying themselves to the news of her death.

She clenched her hands into fists. It was heartbreaking to watch how many people came together to celebrate her death, she considered every one of the family but to them, she was only something to get out of the way for a better life.

She turned away from the scene. Even in death, she was still in pain. She floated out of the resort to leave them to their party. She felt an immense burning flame in her heart if given a chance. She would be the one toasting to their ends.

She would burn their worlds down one by one until they were reduced to nothing but ashes. She would wipe every source of happiness from their lives.

The force that pulled her towards her enemies returned and started to forcefully pull her away once more. She was drawn to a glasshouse in the city. She went along worried. She had seen enough betrayal for one day but death seemed to have other thoughts on the matter.

"Why do you do this to yourself?" nanny Fer asked in a worried tone. Serena smiled, it had been a long time since she had seen the face of her favorite nanny.

"I can't help it. It is the only way to feel that she is with me," a man too familiar with her stated. "You know it, well nanny, that I love Serena with all of my heart," he added in a pained voice.

Serena was shocked. She had never once imagined that he felt that way for her. It pained her how much she had neglected and overlooked those around her to please her husband. She has stopped being in touch with him since her husband told her that it was not good.

She scolded herself for her choices.

"I can't believe that she is gone forever," he said sadly. Serena neared him, she looked over his shoulder to see the message that he was busy staring at with teary eyes.

<<Damian, I need some time to stabilize my mental health and think things through. If you can then please replay this to my family so they don't get worried. With love, Sese..>>

The long message read.

It was from her phone and sent a few minutes after her death. She could hardly believe her eyes. Her husband and his mistress killed her and made it look like she left the country.

With her past of doing such things under his and her best friend's influence. She doubted that anyone would doubt the message.

She would be considered alive and no justice would be given to her murderers. "Despicable," she finally uttered before she closed her eyes and let go.
