Grief

Royal guards began flooding the chamber, their light footsteps echoing through the marble halls. However, as soon as they entered the room, they froze in place.

The guards gasped in horror as they witnessed the goblin king's gruesome demise. Their king, the mighty ruler of their tribe, was impaled on the spear of a tall and mysterious figure standing in the center of the chamber.

The room fell into an eerie silence as the guards stared at Kai, their eyes wide with fear and disbelief. They had never imagined that anyone could defeat their king.

As the guards stood still, a female goblin entered the room. She was short and slender, with long, dark hair and piercing green eyes. As she saw the gruesome scene before her, her eyes widened in disbelief and horror.

"Pon!"

She cried out something incomprehensible, her voice echoing through the chamber.

She rushed towards the throne, where the goblin king's lifeless body lay impaled on the spear. But as she drew near, the guards stepped in front of her, barring her path.

"Fal ek!"

One of the guards shouted something back.

"Fal ek approach sot!"

The female goblin, presumably a princess, looked at the guards in disbelief.

"Ko dake kahl?!"

Her voice was abnormally high. Well that was expected since Kai kind of killed her father.

"Spet human killed ten pon!"

The guards looked at each other nervously. One of them discreetly nodded and others grabbed the princess who was already wailing in grief and started to drag her out of the room.

Kai could deduce that the guards were probably taking the princess to safety, away from the king killer, him.

'Well, this is awkward...'

Scratching his chin, Kai carefully removed the spear from the goblin king's lifeless body, letting the corpse fall to the ground with a dull thud.

Slowly, small light particles began to swirl and shimmer around Kai. It was the process when one defeated a dungeon boss. They would be transported out of the dungeon and back to the entrance.

'I have around a minute before I am teleported out.'

Kai observed as the shimmering light particles intensified, their glow casting a warm, ethereal light upon the macabre scene. He knew that the teleportation process was a matter of seconds now.

As the last of the particles coalesced into a brilliant portal, a low growl emanated from the goblins standing everywhere in the chamber. It seems that goblins finally snapped out of their initial shock and were now slowly advancing towards Kai, their eyes filled with rage and vengeance.

Just as the first goblin lunged forward, a brilliant flash of light engulfed Kai, whisking him away from the menacing horde. In a matter of seconds, he found himself standing in the familiar forest clearing where he had first entered the dungeon.

"I'm back."

Placing his cobalt spear back into his Spatial Inventory, Kai took a moment to catch his breath. This dungeon was tough. Although it didn't take as long as he expected, the dungeon's environment itself was unexpected.

Even in his previous life, Kai had never attempted to complete such a dungeon, to kill a leader of an entire city. This was a new experience for him. Probably, most of the teenagers his age would be mentally strained after such a dungeon since he indeed kill, a living, thinking being with a family and a position of power.

This goblin dungeon was eerily similar to human civilization.

Fortunately, Kai wasn't normal. He was also tough, his emotions dulled after everything that had happened during his past life and the last year.

"It had to be done..."

Turning toward the shimmering and flickering dungeon portal that was slowly shrinking and fading away, Kai awaited for his rewards.

Thud...

Soon, a faint thud echoed through the clearing as a treasure chest materialized in front of Kai. Kai's eyes lit up with anticipation.

Usually after completing the dungeon, items would appear in the treasure chest as a reward for the dungeon conqueror. Nobody could explain how or why these items appeared, but it was an accepted result of clearing a dungeon.

"Don't mind if I do..."

Rubbing his hands together with a small grin, Kai stepped forward and opened the treasure chest. Within this wooden box quite a lot of items were neatly arranged. It was nothing crazy or overpowered, but it was still a decent haul for his efforts.

Within the chest there was...
