Walking over, Nate took a seat on the floor near the other disciples. Glancing around, he noticed that aside from Selene, there was one other girl and three boys. Their gazes fell upon him appraisingly, with one boy even scoffing with contempt as he looked him over.
"They're planning to let this weakling join us? He's not even at the apprentice rank yet," the boy grumbled, his voice laced with disdain.
"Trever, be nice," the other girl chided, before turning to Nate with a warm, friendly smile. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Laura, a water mage. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"I'm Devin, a spear wielder," another boy greeted, before glancing at Trever, who was still glaring at Nate as if he were an annoying fly. "That's Trever. Don't mind him; he's an archer with a chip on his shoulder."
"I'm Rob, an apprentice-level fire mage!" the last boy exclaimed, his eyes wild with enthusiasm and his voice brimming with energy.
