Chapter 1: Black Knight

"REALM OF THE GODS. EXPERIENCE BECOMING A HERO OF THE GOLDEN AGES OF THE THREE MAJOR MYTHOLOGICAL STORIES! GREEK! NORSE! EGYPTIAN! WILL YOU BECOME A HERO FOR THE GODS OR REIGN AS ONE OF THEM!?"

James turned down the T.V. so he could focus on finishing his virtual setup. Honestly, it was pretty easy when following the directions and going step by with the pictures. James connected two last wires, and the large visor lit up with green lights and a welcome sign moved across the screen from left to right. James took a deep breath, laid down on his bed, and put the visor on his face. He looked over at a large book, exhaled, and closed his eyes as he hit the start button on his visor.

'Here we go', James said to himself.

A disembodied voice was the first thing James heard.

"Register name"

'Uuuuh Zeus?'

"Username unavailable"

'Odin'

"Username unavailable"

'Fuckin hell really?'

"Fuckin hell really'" would you like to register?"

'No!'

"Please select Username"

'Magnus', James said

"Username 'Magnus' is available. Warning username cannot be changed once registered. Would you like to continue as 'Magnus'?

'Yes', James said.

"Welcome Magnus to the Realm of Gods. Reign as one of them".

Magnus found himself surrounded by darkness. The only thing he could see was a light in the distance and he began to walk towards it. He took five steps as a voice booming yet calm echoed throughout the unseen area, 'Have you come to take my light?' The man's voice asked.

'No. I have come to show something much better', Magnus said while reaching out and feeling for a wall. Once he found it, he began to follow the wall until he came upon a large rope.

'There is something better than the light I have here?' Asked the man.

'There is', Magnus said as he pulled down the rope and revealed a large window that showed the most beautiful scenery. The trees' grass shone like emeralds. Blue sky clear with no clouds reflected off the lake as if were crystal. A large snow-capped mountain in the background put the scene together. As if Bob Ross himself had painted this breathtaking scene.

'Whoa', Magnus said at the breathless view.

'You are the first to not fight me young warrior.'

Magnus turned to see a middle aged man that stood twice his height. His hair stopped at his shoulders and was adorned with precious gems. His skin was the color of leather contrasted with his golden eyes that shone like the stars of a night sky.

'King Arthur. It is an honor to meet you friend', Magnus stated.

Arthur raised his eyebrow and smiled while walking towards a large throne. He sat, then beckoned Magnus to come closer. Magnus walked towards him then stopped four paces from the throne.

Magnus saw the black armor Arthur wore. It was that fashion of the knights of old Britain. But what captured Magnus' attention was the red cape Arthur wore. It was beautiful. It was ragged at the bottom, yet the rest was untouched by dirt or filth.

'Kneel young warrior', Arthur commanded.

Magnus bent one knew and bowed his head as Arthur began to speak, 'For doing the impossible and defeating the King of Camelot, I, King Arthur The Black Knight, bestow upon you my title and kingdom. May you ever be blessed and victorious in the battles to come James'

Magnus' eyes went wide. He looked to see an empty throne. A red screen popped in front of and read:

"You have defeated the King of Camelot"

"You have gained the title 'Black Knight' "

"You gained the Cape of Ares"

"Congratulations! You have become the Ruler of Camelot!"

"Started Quest: Omnipotent; collect the other five God items, pieces collected one of six"

"You have leveled up!"

"You have leveled up!"

The screen kept repeating the level up note until it stopped.

"Congratulations , you have maxed out. You are the first player to reach level 100. You have gained: Sparta's Army, Roar of Ares." You have unspent skill points.``

Magnus took a deep breath then said one single word.

'Fuck'
