If Nana's words were true, it's quite a difficult thing to turn back now. Kim Do-Joon is here now and he seems to be a really good guy except that...Uhh, *sigh frustratingly.
**Flashback**
Just about three months ago. It was dinner at Lao's on Valentine's day. The best and most expensive restaurant in town had only two customers seated across each other. It's really evident that Kim Do-Joon had the whole restaurant reserved for this meal.
They had only finished the appetizers when the waiters wheeled in the main course, set the table and disappeared again, leaving the two of them alone in the large space.
"Bon appetit" Kim Do-Joon dazzling as he smiled said to Dan-Bi and began to enjoy his meal.
"Hmm " Dan-bi replied with an insincere smile and to her concern, she felt a big deal of awkwardness. She didn't know why but she just couldn't stop thinking about this date.
Ever since she got into Kim Do-Joon's car, she had been in this battle in her thoughts. A debate about what she is getting herself into and she listed every thing she remember from the moment they met till now.
It was different from what she'd expected.
One, he doesn't know how to treat a lady, he got out of the car and walked off. He should at least wait till she gets out if he can't be a gentleman and open her door. Secondly, he is totally against holding hands. Is he courting her or taking her on a tour around the city like a tourist guide?. What more should she count, it will only make her run out of energy. In one word he is a Non-romantic, sadly he has no clue.
From her observations, she noticed that there is no bit of electricity between Kim Do-Joon and herself. Not even a spark. The two adults who should look like a couple out on a date for Valentine are just like two strangers having a from another planet, having a meal together with no idea of what valentine means. In short, it was so boring and the excitement you get on a date was no where to be found.
Heart: 'This is totally different, it's like the worst date of my life. No matter what I do, I don't think this is ever going anywhere.'
Mind: 'Oh no, don't forget why you are doing this, it's to get over Yo-han.'
Heart: 'Hoho, But can you?'
The voices in her head repeatedly countered each other. But she already gave this fellow some hope, there is no going back. She just wants to get this man that refuses to leave her every thoughts away from her mind and Kim Do-Joon is the tool she is relying on. For the sake of finding 'the happiness', she still wants to give him a try.
_
After Dan-bi's experience with Kim Do-Joon on their first date, she unknowingly stopped answering his calls, didn't reply to his messages and later cut of communication with him. Truly she decided to carry on trying him, but her grandmother was a wise woman who gave her a good advice and now she decided not to obey her mind but also not to obey her heart because the direction of her heart is impossible. Yo-han is gone for good, she can't return to him, Never! she only has to find someone else. Someone good.
Dan-Bi sat in a booth at a seafood restaurant with her best friend having a chat and the looks on their faces is very serious.
"What?, Why?, Why do you want to stop seeing him, he is a great guy." No-Eul asked in confusion.
"I know that, I just can't feel any chemistry between us. I also don't want to waste his time anymore." Dan-Bi paused and continued with a stutter. " I... I... I can't tell him by myself, I need you to do it for me."
"No, no, no way, there is no way I get to help you break his heart. You might not know but he likes you so much and he finally found a lady to show his mom who had been pestering him to get a girl. I think you should do it yourself." No-Eul rejected immediately.
Dan-Bi threw her hands in the air, somewhat frustrated, she was about to say a word when No-Eul interjected. "Hm, now that you are letting go of Do-Joon, are you planning to return to Yo-Han?"
"No!, no no no no no no no! Not gonna happen" Dan-Bi replied hastily. She sounded as if it's a taboo that No-Eul just said.
"I hope you find someone you like but I truthfully will say that you won't. You belong to Yo-Han, everything about you says so, you are just feeding yourself with lies. But I don't blame you, you must be irritated by his recent waywardness." No-Eul's commented nonchalantly, not knowing she had hit the wrong spot.
Her words angered Dan-bi and she angrily stormed off and left the restaurant.
"The truth is bitter." No-Eul said and continued her meal.
_
Dan-Bi sat in her office and recovered her thoughts after wandering off to her recent troubles for a while and resumed signing some documents and checking proposals.
A knock sounded on her office door and without waiting for her reply the door burst open with Kim Do-Joon standing below the threshold and a couple of staffs catching up to him.
"What are you doing here?" Dan-Bi asked in her most friendly way. She even managed to fake a smile upon his arrival. With this, he calmed down a bit and his panting regulated steadily.
Dan-Bi signalled to the staffs who tried to stop Kim Do-Joon all the way from the main reception to her own personal reception, then to her office door. With her gesture they all left and gave the Boss and her 'Tell him I am not around' boyfriend some privacy.
"Mr Kim, what brings you here?" She asked very formally.
"Didn't they say you weren't around?" Kim Do-Joon asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh, I am really busy that I don't want to see anyone so I asked them to relay the message to anyone who asks of me. I had no idea you would be coming." Dan-Bi replied and walked back to her seat.
"Hey stop feigning innocence, you are avoiding me, why, aren't we dating?" Kim Do-Joon asked firmly, rejecting to be deceived anymore. He thought she was busy all along until he heard the rumours when No-Eul was telling it to Do-Hyun this morning.
"Why would you want to leave me just like that? Ain't I good enough?, Oh, I am sure that compared to Yo-han, I am not lacking in any way, so why?" He asked again, getting a bit furious this time around.
"Oh, there is no reason to hide it anymore. Mr Kim, I think it's best to stop this game now. I don't want to keep this going on. Let's keep things strictly formal with one another from now on." She said and continued her work, not minding his presence.
"Yo-Han... You are doing this because of him isn't it? That bastard!!!" He shouted and didn't wait for a response before barging out of her office. His anger left traces even after he had only passed by minutes earlier.
She sat there quietly and watched the door slam against it's post. Just then her phone chimed with a message notification. She pick it up and saw what number it was from. Though it had no name, she still recognized the digits and can recite them even in her sleep. She click on the notification which took her directly to the chat box.
[Master Han]: Hi,... Uhm, I am not sure if you still have my number and if you don't, this is Yo-Han. Uhm, I don't know what to do or what to say anymore, I have tried all the tricks up my sleeves but still I can't get to make you forgive me. Actually, I know I was out of line for not taking you seriously. And forgiveness, I am not sure if you would believe me but I think I learnt how to do it now... Umph, I know you might not want to be my girlfriend anymore, I understand that you have my half-brother now, ehn?, I only wish you could give me the chance to remain friends with you. Just friends, like we used to be before it all got complicated. Just friends, nothing more. If you decide to agree to my request, I would like to meet you sometimes during the week. What do you say?
Dan-Bi was angry at first when she saw how long the message was but when she managed to read to the end, she felt a bitter lump at the back of her throat.
'So he also gave up on us.' She sighed heavily and turned her swivel chair around to face the windows.
'Just friends?' friends my foot, he didn't even mention his several affairs, he didn't apologise for those, he only mentioned how he wasn't able to forgive my family at first when there was no evidence to prove our innocence... Yo-han it's too late to learn to forgive, I guess you know that its of no use.
